  1. Hi Everyone,

I'm a mom to a 1 year old and fellow cruiser and I wanted to share two videos that might be helpful to the parents and grandparents here on CC.

The first one is titled "Infant Cruise Packing List" and the second one is "Infant Cruise Tips".

They are both on youtube, not sure if I am allowed to post the links though, they are both travel and cruise related. :D

  2. You have one thread worrying about TSA locks and your bags being searched and then this thread worrying about the naughty room. What are you packing that is causing the concern? All bags are xrayed so if you are packing alcohol, they will see it, they don't always pull the bags but it will be visible. If you are packing something illegal, don't bother, they will pull the bag, find you on the ship and have you removed. False bottom cans won't help either, search the forum and you will find a thread posted by someone who was removed from the ship, prior to the ship leaving port, due to his "hookah tobacco".

We are not packing alcohol as we are not drinkers! This is our first family cruise on Royal with 2 seniors and a baby. We plan on bringing in legal diapers, baby food, apple juice and bottle water. lol. :D We actually got a signed doctors letter to bring the baby stuff on board so we are doing everything the right way.:D

Wish more people did research before they cruise.

  3. The reason I am curious is because this is my first time cruising on Royal Caribbean. I've only sailed on Carnival twice so I am completely new to how RC does things. :D

Yes, I have another post about luggage locks because there is a group of us going and we want to know how others fared with the locks if they were even worth it.

And no need for assumption that we are trying to bring some illegal on board. lol. We aren't even bringing alcohol because we rarely drink and traveling with a baby and two senior citizens!! Only thing we are bring is baby supplies! Diapers and lots of diapers. :D

  4. We just bought several luggage locks that are TSA approved for $10 each. I'm concerned after reading that they can still be cut off at port by security. I'll not be happy if they are cut off!

What is your success rate with luggage locks and how would you recommend others use them? Someone suggested locking them after boarding and when putting them in the hallway, but wouldn't your luggage be searched upon return and your lock could still be removed and taken?

Does security carefully go through your bag or do they mess everything up that was neatly packed?

  5. FYI: I was told by two Royal Staff that you must get a doctor's letter for a baby in order to bring bottle water, formula juice and snacks. The letter must have child's date of birth and full name and both parents name on the letter. Must be on letterhead and signed by the doctor.

I just got my letter last week and so happy, the staff told me that I can bring as much as I need now for us and they won't question us as long as we have that letter from the doctor.

Some people say you don't need a letter but I wouldn't risk it as some people have had stuff taken away. If the RCCL staff told me I need the letter for baby stuff than I'm am going to follow what they told me to do.

Bring as much disposable items as you can as well as a good umbrella stroller, baby carrier and backpack style diaper bag. :D

We are taking our baby on Oasis in a few months! :D

  6. Hello,

We are sailing next year on the Oasis of the Seas RCCL with our 15 month old baby. There are quite a few differences between Carnival and Oasis child options. I know on RCCL you can pre order Gerber foods and Huggie diapers but they are very expensive. I'm sure Carnival has something similar. We have sailed on Carnival and loved it but being that this our baby's first cruise we wanted to go on Oasis since they have the nursery on board even though it costs $6-8 a hour depending on what time of day.

There are some great packing lists on here for babies if you search.

I would suggest getting a passport for the baby if you don't have one already. A umbrella stroller will be a life saver for you if you don't want to bring a car seat with you on board. We just bought a Ignite Umbrella stroller on amazon for under $80 and our 10 month old loves it. I would also suggest to bring a inflatable baby bathtub you can buy at babies r us for $8.00 if your baby doesn't like taking showers. Those cheap plastic bags for dirty diapers are great that babies r us sells. Buy disposable bibs, forks, spoons and sippy cups that "Take & Toss" sells. Lysol or Clorox wipes for wiping the cabin room down is a very good idea. A backpack style diaper bag is great for carry on and going in port. I highly suggest buying a travel baby carrier if you like to wear your baby.

I'm sure you guys will have a great time with your little one!

  7. That would be Carnival, not RCI where they technically allow you no beverages other than the two bottles of wine per stateroom. However, as Bob pointed out, this restriction is rarely enforced except during spring break.

I looked on RCCL website and never saw anything about the bottle water or soda. I called and spoke with a lady named Jessie. She was helpful and told me people are not suppose to bring water on board. I told her I have a baby and need nursery water for mixing formula, she said to get a doctor's note to bring with me just in case they give me any issues about water or juice. :D

  8. My TA e-mailed me back this morning and explained to me that the BOGO deal with kids sail free would not help us.

Our price is lower than what they are offering now for Oasis of the Seas in January 2015. She said the bogo would raise the 1st and 2nd passenger rate and we would wind up paying more even with our child being free.

We are still happy regardless because she thinks we got a great deal for 3 people in a ocean view connecting cabin on 9th deck including prepaid gratuity, insurance fees and taxes for under $3,000. My in-laws are in the connecting cabin next to us so it's all good!!!!! Will save a little money on the babysitting too. HAHAHA

We still saved money without BOGO.

  9. We have two connecting ocean view rooms booked for January 2015 on Oasis of the Seas. We have not made final payment yet and do have travel insurance.

We have contacted our TA and waiting to hear back from her to see if we could apply the kids sail free offer to our booking without having to cancel or change rooms.

  10. Hello,

I read on a social media site "other than CC" last night that there was suppose to be a new RCCL Bogo sale going on starting today and one of the offers was kids sail free. Can anyone confirm this?

My dh, lo and I are booked for Oasis in January. We have not made final payment yet and do have travel insurance. We have e-mailed our TA to see if the Kids Sail free offer could apply to us since we booked a month ago but have not made final payment yet so would like to know if we could get a credit for our lo.
