  1. That is correct. Last cruise we used our EDL's and left the birth certificate and naturalization certificate at home.

That's what I thought. And that's what the FAQ sounds like to me. I've been panicking all night because I couldn't find my birth certificate. I have 2 of my husband's, 2 of my son's, 0 of mine. No clue how that could be. Last time I used it was 2 years ago, at the same time as my husband, to get our passport cards.

  2. I want to visit Cable Beach because it looks so lovely and there is a chance to see some marine life while snorkeling. We have our own gear for snorkeling. I'm just worried about the times our ship is in port... 1pm to 7pm seems pretty short to me for a beach day plan. Would you still think Melia is worth it for a day pass so my parents can enjoy the pool and shade? Would it be better to just use a public access to Cable Beach? How is the beach at the public access locations? Is it $30 a person nicer in front of Melia? We do plan to take the bus so that will help keep the cost down, especially when compared to the Carnival beach excursions offered. Due to the port time it should be easy to eat a large meal before getting off the ship and not need to eat off the ship unless we see something we'd like to try. The daiquiri shack I've read about across from the resorts is definitely appealing.

Trying to keep things as inexpensive as possible while still having a nice time. This was a very unexpected trip and so we weren't able to budget much for excursions.

  3. I spent an extra $2-3 per day over 8 days to tip the servers/bartenders who were waiting on us a lot. For about $20 extra we had drinks waiting for us at bars and servers who would bee line for us on deck, MDR and in shows, got a few "samples" and overlooked an extra drink that exceeded my husbands daily limit one night. It was well worth it. We were never snubbed on the majority of drinks that I didn't add an extra tip to or treated any differently. It was an 8 day cruise at the end of October on the Legend and we never left the ship in ports so we spent a lot of time talking to the bartenders and waiters too.

  4. I would pass. Not much to see out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for most of the cruise. Hawaii is expensive so I'd rather use the money to do excursions. But that's me and we prefer the quiet, dark interior rooms. We did take a balcony for Alaska and that, was worth it. But there is beautiful scenery the entire cruise to view.

  5. I would like to know if all the food options are open on Embarkation Day. I know the Buffet will get really crowded, but I'm not sure if I want to just order something from the Dining room. Choices, Choices, Choices. What will be my choices?

The dining room will not be open. Lido buffet areas only including deli, fish and chips, Mongolian wok, guys burgers, blue iguana
