  1. I am from the UK and always book via US travel sites. Last year we went with Costa and had to pay for water during the evening meal. It is true that American citizens have free water. But everyone else, if you do not have the beverage package, will have to pay

  2. Firstly there is a left luggage depot at Piazza Roma, on the same side as the people mover. I'm not sure if you can leave luggage overnight, but I don't see why not. We have travelled on the allilaguna, which does take longer than the bus. The allilaguna stops at st marks on the way to the piazza Roma. The bus ends at the piazza Roma and you can get a vaparetto from there where ever you want. This is where all road transport ends. We have done both, both are very easy. You can get tickets for the allilaguna either at the airport once you have gone through passport control or else at the dockside, which is about a 5 or so minutes easy walk and well signposted. Bus tickets are also available once you pass passport control. Although it takes longer and is a bit more expensive, I do like arriving in Venice by water. It sets the scene somehow.

  3. Great. Just how much wine is per glass, soda, average cocktail price. I'm trying to work out whether it's worth buying an AI package really. We've had one before, but to be honest, we went a bit mad cause Costas was so good. Had one on Norweigan in may and we didnt like it as much. My husband doesn't drink alcohol or tea and coffee so he is limited on the use he can get out of it. Thanks

  4. Does anyone have experience of taking their own soda cans on board. My husband only drinks soda, nor does he drink tea or coffee. Is it taken off you? I fear it could get extremely expensive if we have to purchase individual cans all of the time. it would be nice to be able to supplement at least some of the drinks for cabin use when we go ashore. Even if we were to get a soda package, this too would cost a lot.

  5. Can anyone who has travelled with costa recently confirm whether soda is served by the can or glass if you have purchased the AI package, and also is it definite that free water is not served during dinner. Thanks

  6. I have been on 3 cruises with Costa, and found them all very enjoyable. The announcements in various languages can be a bit wearing. One amusing anecdote from our first cruise was a show which featured a ventriloquist..... Yes...the same jokes in several languages! Food was the usual cruise standard i think, with a leaning toward Italian dishes. They always have a pasta course in the evening which is, in my opinion, excellent.

  7. My husband and I were on the Costa Favolosa in June and had the all inclusive drinks package. excellent value for money. We just got bottles of water from the bar or asked for some at breakfast to take ashore. This was the same for cans of coke. My husband does not drink alcohol but whenever I ordered a cocktail, I ordered an alcohol free one for him. Saved us a fortune!

  8. I used the link below. The owner is called Stephen Tryhane.

thriller-ocean-tours@caribsurf.com. I emailed him and he got back to me really quickly. There were 9 on our tour. Stephen stayed in the boat keeping a watch on us in the water and there was someone in the water with us. When the turtles moved away, we followed and Stephen brought the boat around near to where we were so that no-one had to swim a long way. One thing though, in the advertisement, he specifies that he will provide lunch. This is not the case now, we got nibbles, unlimited soft drinks and beer and rum punch after everyone finished snorkling. I think it was a good idea to stop the lunch bit as it left more time to do other things.

  9. My husband, 17 year old daughter and myself all did this tour on the 25th October 2007. It was wonderful! None of us had snorkled before, and I particularly am not a very strong swimmer, but Stephen was very careful and ensured that we made the most of our day. I would definately recommend it. He issues lifejackets, which can be blown up with air if needed (which I did and so helped a great deal). The only problem we had was the weather was poor, but this did not detract from the experience. Do not let the fact that you have never snorkled put you off trying this. You can do as much or as little as you like There are 3 stops - one to swim with the turtles, one over a reef and the last over 2 shipwrecks. Finally there is an opportunity to swim a very short distance ashore to the beach. There was no danger of returning late for the ship (this is docked just a short taxi ride away - as the weather was dull, we walked which took about 15 minutes).
