  1. We are doing this tour next week and have arranged to go to the orphanage as well as visit with the local kids and we are bringing school supplies as well items that the orphanage needed.

We are also going to see the monkeys and sloths and possibly zip lining.

Contact Rony's as he will arrange for a private tour. I will report back after our trip.

  2. Looking for advice on excursions. We are trying to decide if swimming with the sharks is worth the time having to travel to get there? Is there a specific company that is recommended? It will be my teen daughter and myself traveling so we want to make sure we are on a safe tour as well.

Our other option is possibly going cave tubing.. we are trying to determine what would be better for us.

    Thank you in advance

  3. We are trying to find an excursion in Grand Cayman that has a catamaran and will also take us to Stingray city as well as to the Starfish area.

We have gone on the stingray sailing with captain Chip in the past and enjoyed it but he doesn't go to Starfish area and we really would like to visit that area as well.

Has anyone found a tour company that has a catamaran, goes to stingray city and also starfish point.

    Thank you!

  4. Just realized I forgot to book my family a hotel for tomorrow night when we arrive in Fort Lauderdale.

We are flying in tomorrow night and renting a car to drive from FLL to Miami. Our cruise leaves out of Miami so we need a hotel for 1 night.

    We would like something:

Near Miami Airport or on the way from FLL to Miami (as we have to drop our rental car off on Saturday morning)

    Safe area

Free overnight parking for our 1 night stay

Near a Walmart or store that we can pick up last minute items.

Thank you so much for any help! :)

  5. We are in Cozumel from 10am-7pm on Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas in a few weeks.

Looking for recommendations on which Dolphin Swim/Beach Day we should do..

It will be myself, DH, DS (12) and DD (11).. We want to do the Swim with dolphins and Dolphinaris seems to be the least expensive Dolphin Swim but it doesn't look like there is much else to do other than swim with the Dolphins. We are thinking of possibly doing the dolphin swim and then leaving Dolphinaris and going to Paradise Beach? Is this doable in the time we have in Cozumel?

    OR

We could go to Chankanaab and do the Dolphin swim there (although it is almost double the cost) and it doesn't seem that Chankanaab has a very nice beach (or one that you can just walk into as it looks like you have to use stairs)

We were in Cozumel last year for a cruise and really enjoyed our beach time with swimming pools at Playa Mia because we could lounge on the beach or use the mats to float in the ocean as well as use the really nice pools.

Looking for thoughts on doing the combo (Dolphinaris with Paradise Beach) or just going to CHankanaab and paying the higher prices..

    Thank you!

  6. Thank you everyone for your recommendations.

We are planning to rent a car in Port Canaveral and keep it until we fly out on Tues. Oct 7..

Thoughts on if spending 1 day at Universal is worth it as we will be staying at Hard Rock on site in order to get the early access as well as the skip the line access?

or should we skip Universal this time and try to find something else to do for 2 days in Orlando or Cocoa Beach? My kids are 11 and 12 so looking for something geared towards that age..

    Thank you so much!

  7. Did you ever find an excursion that was what you were looking for? We are looking for the same thing? We've been to Stingrays many times and LOVE the catamaran part of the sailing but really don't want to go back to the stingrays again.. would prefer to just sail ..

  8. I saved $27 over another reservation I already have. When I started the rate was over $140 so it was almost $100 off. My question is if they reject the code because I can't show card can I keep 2 reservations open so I can use my first one as backup?

They have no credit card number. Or will they see his name on 2 reservations?

    Thanks

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I don't know the answer to this but would love to find out if anyone else does? We are thinking of doing the same thing.. Making 2 separate reservations using 2 different coupon or BCD codes in case they don't accept our original reservation.

  9. There were quite a few.. and yes they are first come first serve..

There is a small building on the beach where they hold them along with snorkel gear I believe? I'm not sure if the snorkel gear is free as we didn't use any.

  10. We visited Play Mia on our cruise last October and really enjoyed it! Our kids were 10 and 11 and it offered a lot of fun for the day!

We purchased the all-inclusive with buffet and it was nice to be able to eat and drink all we wanted without worrying about budget.. I will say the buffet was not all that great as far as the food and my kids would have preferred to order off of the menu instead. I think if we do this excursion again we would do the all-inclusive for the adults and then just order food off the menu for our kids.

The inflatables in the ocean are fun but they are a ways away from the shore and it took a lot of energy for our kids to get out there. They do require you to wear life-jackets to go on the inflatables because of the long swim out.

I personally loved the free floatie mats available that you can use and just float around roped off swimming area. :)

The pools are also really nice and my kids spent a TON of time in there along with the waterslide.

Overall there is a lot to do and fun. We were the only ship in port on our day there so the park was very quiet with not a lot of people there so I'm not sure how it will be with 5 ships in port..

  11. Our cruise RC Freedom stops in Falmouth Jamaica and we are trying to plan an excursion as this is our first trip to Jamaica. It will be my DH, myself,

    DS (12) and DD (11).

We are looking at possibly booking a private excursion to Blue Hole with Courtney Taylor or Peate Taylor but I'm a bit worried my kids will be too young for this excursion? They are both fairly good swimmers and somewhat adventurous but I'm not sure if we should do this our the Rose Hall All-inclusive excursion instead.

Can anyone share their experience with Blue Hole.. Were there kids there, Is it a fairly safe excursion?

    or

Is Rose Hall a good excursion?

Thank you for your help! :)

  12. We are cruising on a Royal Caribbean cruise which arrives back to Port Canaveral on a Sunday.

We are not flying back home until Tuesday afternoon and are thinking of doing a 1 day pass to Universal Studios..

My thoughts are to rent a car in Port Canaveral and drive to Universal Studios of which we would turn in the car. (Is this possible to return to a nearby rental place?)

We have a free room at a Hilton property so since we are getting to Universal so late on the 1st day and not going into the park we thought of just staying at the Doubletree across the street for Sunday..

On Monday early morning we would move over to a room on-site of Universal at one of the deluxe rooms in order to take advantage of the Express pass options.

Tuesday we would take a cab or rent another car to go back to the airport for our afternoon flight..

I am looking for help and opinions on the logistics of this. We are trying to save as much money as possible in order to be able to take our kids to Universal on top of the 7 day cruise.. It seems car rentals are quite expensive.. Does anyone know how much to expect to pay for a cab from Universal to MCO airport?

I'm trying to figure out if we would be better off in renting a car in Port Canaveral and keeping it (and paying for parking) until we leave and return back to airport. It seems this would cost us at least $150 more for the 2 days..

THank you for any help you can provide!! :)

  13. Thank you so much for your amazing reviews! I have read some of your previous reviews and loved them.

I am VERY excited to read your review of the Liberty as we leave TOMORROW for Ft. Lauderdale and are staying at the same hotel Doubletree Gallery One. ( It looks like it is a great hotel in a nice area)

We get on the Liberty on Saturday and we are scheduled to do many of the same excursions your family did.. I am subscribing and hoping to read about your time in Cozumel, Belize and Roatan specifically and hopefully before Saturday! :)

    Thank you again!

  14. I'm curious if anyone ever got a answer on what the cost is to book Playa Mia?

I too want to book the excursion that includes adults open bar but no buffet? I know Mistugirly was able to book it back in May.

Also, has anyone just taken a taxi to Playa Mia and paid to get in when they got there?

  15. So I contacted Shore excursioneer and they stated that we could purchase the Adults all inclusive and for the kids we could purchase the day pass for $24.99 but they would not get food.

I know that in Mitsugirly review she stated that they purchased a package that just included admission and drinks and then they purchased the food ala cart. That is the option we are looking for..

Can anyone tell me where I can find that option?

    Thank you!!

  16. We are brining our 10 and 11 year old kids on our next Carnival Cruise. Our first stop is in Cozumel. We were debating on going to Playa Mia or Passion Island.

Can anyone comment on playa Mia as far as how far out are the water play on toys? My kids both swim well but I'm nervous the toys will be out too far..

Also, has anyone booked this excursion using:

    http://www.cozumel-watersports.com/excursions/playamiadaypass.html

Could I purchase the All-inclusive package for my husband and myself ($59.99 each) and then just get the kids a admission pass to the park ($24.99 each) or do I also have to purchase a all-inclusive pass for them as well?

Also, if booking through this company and we get to Cozumel and it's raining or weather is bad can we cancel and get our money back? Just curious if anyone has had any experience with this company.. Shore Excursioneer?

    Thank you very much!

  17. Love reading your review of Liberty! We are scheduled to go on this exact ship/itinerary in Oct.

We are also looking at doing the cavetubing excursion but I am a bit nervous whether my 10 and 11 year old will enjoy it? They are very well behaved kids and loved our 1st cruise last year but I have struggled with what excursion to choose for Belize and have narrowed it down to doing the cave tubing or just staying on the ship for the day..

Do you think the cave tubing is "exciting" enough to keep kids attention or is it just basically laying on a tube floating down a relaxing river?

Thank you so much for your review! It sounds like you had a great cruise! :)

  18. I was reading a previous Fun Times from the Destiny and saw that you are not allowed to wear flip flops in the main dining room?

I am wondering how much this is enforced? My husband was planning to wear cargo shorts and golf shirts to Cruise Casual dinner but was going to only bring a pair of flip flops and a pair of dress shoes to wear to elegant night.

I also was planning to wear nicer flip flops with a sundress as was my daughter.

Hoping someone can give some insight on this as we leave in 6 days and want to make sure we don't look silly walking into the dining room with the wrong shoes... LOL! :)

  19. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your review!! Thank you!

We are sailing on Destiny leaving Oct 1 and can't wait! This is our 1st cruise and it is the first time we are bringing our kids (9 and 10) to the Caribbean. Did you notice kids on the ship?? I'm sure there will be some but just curious if my kids will have "friends" they can hang out with on the ship??

    Thank you!! :)

  20. Love your review so far! We are going on the Destiny in 2 weeks and it is our first cruise.. Can't wait!

Did you book SAS as a private transfer or just regular? The reason I ask is that we fly in the day of our cruise and were hoping to find a transfer company that would stop so we could purchase soda ubt we have been told that they will not stop unless you book a private transfer??

Thank you and can't wait for more!
