We like ATD. We prefer the company of family and friends over strangers. We also like to eat on our schedule. Not sure if we would quit sailing on Carnival if ATD was cut but it would make us take a harder look at other cruise lines.

Comments Other than the mattresses, we were very happy with this cabin and location - perfect for cruising Alaska. The Lido deck over-hang kept the rain off us on the balcony. Inside the cabin we never heard any noise from the Lido deck. We did hear some Lido deck noise when on the balcony but it was not bothersome.

In my experience from last week, the rainy/misty Alaska weather is colder than what was predicted. Walking on the Glacier was even colder. Regardless of the weather we had tons of fun.

Try Mylocker.net. We like them.

I take a small fan on all my travels. I like the airflow and need the sound as background noise. My fan is about 5" in diameter and all metal. I take a 10' extension cord. It has lasted over 15 years. I always place them in my checked luggage and I've never had a problem.

This comes as no surprise to us. For us, our upcoming Alaska cruise is a one time event. This is due to time and money. Going across the country to cruise obviously more expensive. We have several other cruises we intend to enjoy before we start duplicating.
-
We always elect the Early Bird Check-in at the end of our cruise. We feel it is one less thing to worry about and allows us to enjoy alittle more.

Research is the best thing you can do in selecting which cruise is best for you and your family. We have our first Alaska cruise scheduled for May 2016 on Princess. We did about 6 months of research before deciding on which specific cruise and excursions to take. The many reviews and excellent advice here on CC made it easier. Friends who have been on an Alaska cruise are another excellent source. We now feel we have the best cruise for us. All the best.

Since they have changed their menu I really don't have favorite. It used to be the Blue Iguana with 1800. I have tried many drinks, never had a bad one at the Blue Iguana.
My absolute favorite drink is the one in front of me. When it disappears, I'll choose another favorite. :)

Got the upsell email for our last cruise. Upsell from a balcony on Lido deck to an ocean suite for a total of $200. We took it. Really enjoyed the extra balcony room. We booked our original cabin through our pvp at the early saver rate.

I have cruised the Caribbean in early November and early December. The weather during both was beautiful. Enjoy your cruise.

It's irrelevant if you, I, or anyone else on CC would never get bored on a cruise. It's only relevant if the OP's DH would. Cruising is a very niche way to travel. I know lots of people who have tried it and HATED it. Lots of them find it BORING! Others find it a very superficial way to experience new places. We all like/love cruising and the cruising experience but many do not.
You are correct - the OP's DH is what the point of this discussion. He may get bored on the at-sea days. Or he may find ways to happily occupy the time. It is up to them. My point in the original post was to state there are ways to have a good time on a cruise at-sea day without spending a lot of money or constantly eating. Anyways, I hope they have a great cruise.

If you are worried about going to certain countries, that's your instincts telling you not to go. Good luck.

I love sea days. I too need to be doing something. While I may stop a few times during the day, I'll usually spend it walking around the ship and checking everything out. I may read for an hour max. While the DW is napping, I'll be topside with my binoculars or at the gym. I've never gotten bored on a cruise. Have a great cruise. :)

We had and aft balcony a few years ago on the Carnival Freedom, deck 7. The cabin was directly centerline and airflow was non-existent when the ship was underway. In the sun it was unusable. We like to use our balconies alot. Therefore we will not book an aft cabin again. (I know, never say never! :))

There was in November 2014. I used it a few times.

I posted a bunch of photos of Liberty cabin 9206 in March 2013. I really loved the cabin and its location. The location is the best. The balcony is the size of the balcony on a regular balcony cabin - I did not at all. Plenty big for us. Enjoy your cruise.

Based on my experience, here are my worst ports for the world and for the US.
Alexandria, Egypt
Naples, Italy
Ankara, Turkey
Los Angeles
NYC
Miami
Having said this, Alexandria is the only port where I would refuse to get of the ship (and I have).

Last month, we had to go to the sports bar to watch the football games.
-
I'd like to see some new routes up north. Iceland, Greenland, maybe far north Canada. Seasonal of course but 2-4 trips a year would be nice.
-
I had GBP several years ago. I don't eat any differently on cruise than I do at home or on business travel. By now you know the feelings of being full, eating too much and dumping. You also know what you can and cannot eat (milk and sugar for me). My advice, eat to your new norm.
As for alcohol, I do not have the over-sensitivity that others have expressed and can drink as I could before my surgery.
Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Five Guys gets my vote. Not as good as the ones I make, but the best of all the burgers I've had in a restaurant.
Carnival Cruises - perks for Suites?

I like suites for the bigger balcony. I spend a lot of time on the balcony. I also like Priority Boarding and the larger room. My wife likes the bath tub.
