That's all good, but Flights By Celebrity tells you to contact the airlines for a refund and the airlines tell you to contact your Travel Agent. It's a Catch-22 that makes for unhappy customers.

Sorry I relized I quoted the wrong entry, but my point is still valid.

same for us.  Celebrity says call airline, airline says must deal with travel agent.  I believe we are not going to like this outcome. We are booked on Norwegian but handled by ChoiceAir.  Norwegian won't cancel or reimburse ChoiceAir is not doing anything.

  2. We had a claim with AON in December for medical expenses relative to a kidney stone while on board. It took over six weeks to finally get reimbursed.  Now I can't begin to imagine the delays inherent with this virus.  You will probably get reimbursed but it will be a long process..  We also are also int same boat with AON currently (no pun intended)..

I started by saying “this is my crazy thought” Celebrity has not officially cancelled any cruises after April 10th.

Not so crazy.  Too much suspense for a relaxing cruise.  Our tenth TA. Ironically, we would miss Madeira for the 3rd time. , 2010, Serious illness, 2011 hurricane and now this.  The cruise gods are sending me a message.

D-Day would be after the so called current 30 day moratorium. Then the mad scramble.

My crazy thought is they will just take the Reflection out of service.

The ship is returning tomorrow to FLL as the current sailing got cut short.

Why fully clean, sanitize and stock for only one last Caribbean cruise of the season.

The TA on the 24th with the European restrictions is not going to happen so the Reflection would be empty until the Caribbean season starts again for her in Oct/Nov.

We are on the 24 Apr.  Where does it say not happening????

Read your policy, it will specifically state which perils are covered.

Since each policy is different, there is no way anyone, here, can specifically tell you what is or is not covered, your insurer, agent or underwriter of the policy is the best source for this information.

Yet, as a general rule and pending on date when the policy was purchased, etc. with the prerequisite documentation, it may be covered.

    bon voyage

We'll just have to wait and see once the dust settles.  Funds will be tied up for months etc. Our health is of utmost important. We are still on this cruise at least until the last day to cancel.  Miracles can happen. This will be the third time we will miss Madeira, the first was because of serious illness; second during a hurricane in 2011. And now this.  Are the Gods trying to tell me something??😩😩

CNBC right now, The CRUISE line policy submitted to the White House is BANNING ALL cruisers over 70 and anyone with a health issue.

Not official yet but its coming soon.

Where did this post come from.  I can find no reference.  Please cite.

  7. We've done 8 as well. 2 East and 6 West.   Except for a fall TA in 2011 from Spain to FLL (hurricane) every cruise was like a mill pond.  Enjoyable on the veranda.  Eastbound might be a little cool but the weather was delightful.  But best laid plans of mice and men yada, yada, yada!! Stuff happens.  If one is queasy , maybe avoid or be adventurous.  Storms are short lived for the most part.

  8. Of course. We haven't booked yet.  OBC is high enough to be a problem if not refundable. Sounds like a problem everyone should have, Right.? Tough to use on board.  Don't want to waste it in Shops. Not with Morocco on the horizon. We'll wait and see. Love this itinerary. On TA in April, will book at that time, get extra OBC and smaller deposit..

Do you not think the people that wash your dishes, sheets and towels, or stock the bars, or do the kitchen prep, or clean the public restrooms, deserve anything?  Because if you remove the gratuities, you will be hurting those crew members.

This is a very poignant point.  An unsung hero on board is the individual who cleans the restrooms and keeps it in pristine condition.  I feel that a little gratuity makes them glad that someone notices their effort over and above the daily gratuity charge.

Denny: Just to clarify. The NOn-refundable one used first. THEN refundable. If any refundable still left - always for me. it will go back on the credit card X has on file.

As to Woody's question - you ASK the TA before booking how much is nonrefundable and how much is refundable. Anythingfrom X (like taking the $300 OBC as a perk - or an on board booking OBC is always NOn-Refundable. MOST (but not all from a TA is refundable this as I said the major TA I checked with gives you the OBC but it's NOT refundable. Simple to ask Any agent BEFORE you put deposit down. They better know or find another TA.

While here and discussing X - the NON-refundable  OBC from X can be used at tables in the casino but can't be cashed in. You get special chips that you use and any wins are given to you in "cashable" chips. I usually have a $100 or so left in NON-refundable OBC and use for $100 in "marked" chips at the casino. I then find a regular gambler at one of my meals and offer them to the person at a 10% discount. They are gambling anyway and are usually happy to do it. So I lose $10 but don't need to spend the $100.

Steve, a great idea on the non refundable use in Casino. Never thought of that.

Now as mentioned, i need to know from my TA which is what.  Will find out soon.

The Skylon is way out of the centre of Dublin.

Which Hilton?  Not the airport Hilton, it also is too far out.

Russell Court is in a great central location (Harcourt Street) and close enough to St Stephen's Green etc.  The tram system is outside the door.  We havn't stayed there in years but would certainly consider it.

Clayton Cardiff Lane is reasonable location, but not much close by.  You could walk across the river (try using the bridge tho'!) and get the tram into central dublin.

If I was picking then either Russell Court or Hilton Garden Inn, Custom House Quay, which is also close to the tram system.

Hilton Dublin Charlemont street.  Center City.

Thanks. Hilton Garden is a little pricy. Russell Court sounds about right.  Will pursue.

  12. For our Dublin stay. We think the following hotels might be good for our first visit after our transatlantic.  We are very cost conscious and these are in our budget areas.  Any assistance would be helpful;

    Hilton Hotel

    Russell Court

    Dublin Skylon

    Clayton Hotel Cardiff

Any thoughts re. these.  We are seniors with 2 days available.  thanks.
