  1. Unfortunately, I haven't done both yet, BUT can come back in early November and give you a report from that perspective if you want.

I've gone solo and I had a great time, even though it was difficult to meet other single solos. I've also sailed with a friend who's married on a line that offered singles events. I missed most of them to hang out with my friend. This time I'm trying a singles cruise as a solo (October) and, though I'm not really expecting anything from it, at least I'll have reason to believe the others are also single, so there won't be any partner toes to step on.

    When I compared 'solo vs singles' pricing, I was even luckier than trivimp... only had to do a total cost comparison to know the singles cruise was a better buy. My solo singles balcony (unobstructed) was $24 less than the solo (unobstructed) balcony via the cruiseline. Win-Win!! Especially with the extras: pre-cruise chat site to meet the others, hosted parties, group-seating dinners, potential excursion partners & mixers...whatever they are! And, if I go to a get together or two and decide I don't enjoy them, I still got my unobstructed balcony cabin for a little less money :-}

Are you going on the Carnival Dream Halloween cruise? I am:D I never did a single cruise before.

  2. Hi, Just wanted to let people know I just booked today a back to back cruise on the Carnival Dream-Oct.4th 11 nights,Oct 15th 10 nights. I am a past passenger with Carnival so I got some great rates with good obc's. I paid $1035.97 including port and taxes for an inside cabin(category 4B),with additional $100 obc from Carnival and $25 from my travel agency for the Oct.4th 11 night cruise. I paid $950.13 including port and taxes for the same inside cabin, with again $100.00 obc from Carnival and $25 from my travel agency, for the Oct.25 10 night cruises. I think these were pretty good deals! For past passengers of Carnival these are called journeys cruises, and you need to include your Carnival membership number to get these good rates. Thanks to whoever earlier this week posted about these cruises! Bye for now,Kendra

    See you Oct 15 Kendra:D

  3. Carnival's 10/11 day cruises dropped about $200 today for guaranteed insides. The three cheapest in today's drop list are the Dream starting October 4th, 2015 from New Orleans to SJU; Sunshine starting November 28th, 2015 from Orlando to SJU; and Sunshine back again to Orlando on December 9th. These are all about $100/day all-in (fare+tax+tip). Other 10/11 days dropped also, but not to this level.

I could not find this either.

  4. Carnival dream out of San Juan in October inside can be had for $958. Take in consideration airfare for San Juan and New Orleans.

Strange but the air fair I got from Boston to San Juan is very good and the coming back from New Orleans to Boston was very high. I think because the return is on a Sunday. If I stay in Nola another two days I save $200.00 Rather spend that money on a hotel then air.

  5. With my past guest discount:

Oct 4.2015 was listed at $786 for 11 days.

Oct 15.2015 was listed at $756 for 10 days.

But I was slow booking because of personal matters

Presently showing $878 and $838, I booked both legs, I now have a 21 day solo cruise for just over $2100 USD. If I had booked when it first showed up I would had the same cruise for less than $1900 USD for the same 21 days.

I was just going to post that. I just booked the Dream for Oct 15. I got an inside spa cabin which I am excited about. Wish I could do the week before also but I can't be away that long.

  6. Hi, My name is Kendra, from Illinois. Looking for a fall cruise,12 days or longer,or a back to back cruise. If anyone comes across any of these cruises with low single supplements, please let me know. I usually book inside cabins. I have been on HAL,Princess,Carnival,RCCL,Norwegian and MSC cruises. Thanks for any info. Kendra

Hi Kendra:) I didn't get to say goodby on our cruise. I too am looking for a fall cruise. Was booked on the Dawn for Oct but the date was bad for me. Let me know if you find something.

  7. Both Celebrity and RCL do an 11 day repositioning cruise from Honolulu to Vancouver in April 2016. I am booked on RCL and am very excited about this cruise which I booked during the BOGOHO sale (buy one get one half off). Great roll call - lots of experienced cruisers. The Rhapsody used to do this route, but in 2016 it will be the Radiance. Love the RCL radiance class ships - did two TA's on the Brilliance this past year and loved the people and the ship.

I tried to look this up on RCL bur couldn't find it. Can you post a link? Thanks.

  8. Good afternoon..I don't know how you are getting these prices..I have tried for the last couple of days to book RCL solo balcony w/o single supplements fee & they keep showing double occupany rates? Is there a trick I am missing? I would love to travel around Sept this year or beginning of next year but can't get the rates you are posting:confused: Any help would be appreciated...:D

Are you putting in for 1 passanger? It will automatically say for 2 so you need to change that and then the single rates should come up.

  9. I just booked an Inside GTY with only a 24% supplement (double occ is currently $849). Plus there is a $115 Inside or $225 Outside Crown & Anchor savings certificate, which will hopefully get added on top of the $100 OBC deal I found at a major online TA. Taxes/fees are only another $77. Nice ship and itinerary (5 ports)--I did a very similar cruise on the Jewel (sister ship) 3 years ago, and for more money. A 13 nt cruise for under $1K (assuming the 2 OBC deals come through) seemed too good for me to pass up, especially since I'm from the Boston area and am saving 1 flight.

When I just rechecked the same TA website, the Inside GTY is gone but OV GTY is still available, though that happened before and the Inside GTY came back, so maybe it will again. OV is still a great deal, especially with the $225 certificate. But if this is any indication of availability, you should act fast. Good luck!

I was originally booked on this one but when DB decided not to go I switched to the Oasis and Allure. It is expensive but I really want to experience the Big Ships.:D You will have a great time. I have done this repo before and always have a good time.

  10. The itinerary was the Western Caribbean...

    Cozumel

    Grand Caymen

    Jamiaca

    Labadee

I had a cabin in AQUA CLASS.....I rarely book in that category

because it usually way more than I want to spend but I was treating

    myself for my birthday.

Oh, if you are sailing with folks you know? Easy Peasy then:);)

    And glad to help:D

Funny because I have a C2 balcony and I don't usually book that for the same reason. But I figured first transatlantic,ya know....

  11. Hi:) yes, I always sail solo. I had a wonderful time. We had a very

friendly roll call (which is a nice thing:)). I would say see if there

is a roll call started and participate in it. Great way to meet other

    cruisers.

The ship itself? She is beautiful!:D...if you have any specific questions?

    Let me know.:)

I will be with a group of people I have cruised with before so that is good. My roll call seems very friendly. Where did you go and what kind of cabin did you have? Thanks for being so friendly.:D
