  1. Tatty?? Definition of tatty is worn and shabby, in poor condition, of poor quality. IMO that is not an accurate description of Solstice at all after having spent 16 days on the ship last month.

Yes, worn and shabby. Just spent 19 days on the ship within the last week. Compared to our experience on the Mercury, the Reflection, and the Infinity, this ship ship needs some attention.

  2. Currently on the Solstice, and I have never had so much problem with erroneous charges. Book two Chef’s Tables, charged for three. And you do not get a receipt, just a slip requiring no signature. A Cellermasters tasting that was charged and adjusted, and refunded, then recharged. Why? Credit for a laundry mishap that snagged several pairs of slacks, but still billed for cleaning several days later. This cruise we have had to track down over $500 worth of errors and credits promised. Of course the Hotel Director can not even return a phone call.

Interestingly, anyone we asked was having issues to a greater or less extent, but always in Celebrity’s favor.

  3. I beg to differ, while the staff has been excellent with the exception of guest services, the ship is tatty. The chairs in Blu need a good cleaning. Towel and sheets are too worn to be acceptable. Carpets look bad in hallways. Would I cancel a cruise over it, no. But it is not in great shape by any means.

  4. Still Code Red on the Infinity. Overall both service and amenities are lacking. It is clear they are trying to get ahead of it, but in the most disorganized way possible. Venues are not opening on time, particularly the Constellation Lounge, always at least an hour late. The machines in Cellar Masters are malfunctioning and no one cares. Modern Luxury=indifference. Definitely our last Celebrity cruise, regardless of our status. There has to be a better option.

  5. We have been thinking about trying Celebrity because we like their smoking policy, but Princess is pretty good too and we have been mostly happy with them. Our big concern with trying Celebrity is what we have read about the music, specifically:

Loud techno music even in dining room,

CEO ignored concerns about this in a recent CC Q and A session,

Staff has been ordered not to reduce volume even if requested to by many,

Extra speakers have been placed outside the shops to blast music even louder.

If all of this is true, we are concerned. We could cocoon on our balcony to avoid noise, but unless we order room service, we would still need to be exposed to thump/thump music while eating. That won't do.

I read that some fast food restaurants are playing classical music in their parking lots to drive away lurking criminals. Is Celebrity doing the same thing. Blasting techno music to drive away those who don't spend enough money drinking and gambling. We don't drink or gamble and I hate to go where I am not wanted.

The Reflection has loud music in the atrium, but due to the openness of the design, it carried. Oddly the library was open to the atrium, and too loud to read in. On the other hand, Blu, Cellarmasters and the Relaxation Room were all reasonably quiet. I can't handle all the bustle of the MDR, and still relax.

  6. Cellermasters is not closing, they are removing the machines. Which is interesting, because they are so well received on RCCL.

We loved the system on the Reflection. I love to try new wines, and the small pours are great. Found a few new favorites. I am curious how the new set up will work. If anyone know, I am curious.

  7. Sorry my last post was garbled. Was distracted by football playoffs and didn't spell check. Shane told me that the enomatic machines were not maintained. The contract withy the company that provided them is over. Shane said that the machinery would eventually be removed from all the Cellar Masters.

Any idea on the timeframe? Sailing on the Infinity on March 30th, and Cellermasters and Blu were the reasons we choose Celebrity.
