    Quick question ....

There are 3 of us sailing on Quantum in October.  DH will buy a Deluxe Beverage package,  I'll get the Refreshment Package (I don't drink!) by calling them. Will my 16yr DD have to get a refreshment package too or can she get the soda package?

No she will not, its only for anyone in the room who is 21 and over

  2. We are going on Anthem in September, we've been on RC cruise including Anthem many times, but I am contemplating a premium drink package for the first time, I know they require all people in the cabin to purchase the package, I have read that people have called and they have given you a Refreshment Package for a person instead, my husband doesn't really drink so two drink packages are def way too expensive, I was just wondering, do they still do this, meaning give one person a premium and the other a refreshment package? What reasons do people give to have them do it? Ideally I would love to get a Premium and just a soda package, but I'm sure they wouldn't do that. Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!

  3. My point is the hurricane is unpredictable right now they will probably wait until the day of if any changes were made because they want to see how the ocean is THAT DAY. I live in NJ and down at our shores this whole week the ocean has been insane, I don't think we have anything to worry about since the hurricane is going to make landfall shortly, I only worry about the size and the affects on the atlantic all the way up to NJ. When I went on an NCL cruise to Bermuda we found out THAT DAY that the iterinary changed. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that we don't have to worry about it.

You 'guarantee' that we'll find out when we get to the pier? That's like saying parents will know if it's a snow day when you drive the kids to school and it's closed.

Of course, if there's no last-minute itinerary change, no prior communication is necessary. If there is a weather-influenced change as drastic as Bermuda in mid-Sept vs. Halifax, then I'm fairly confident we will learn that no later than 2 days in advance of sailing date. We gotta know how to pack!

  4. I will be on the same cruise as you. Last year we were diverted on this same cruise the end of Sept, we went to Portland ME and Halifax, we found out 2 days before, BUT Maria was pretty close to us. With this hurricane I guarantee it will be a decision made on Saturday and you'll find out when you get to the pier. We've done Bermuda about 10 times and Portland, Halifax is no where near as nice, BUT i have to say we had a good time in Halifax. Portland is gross and smelly, we came right back on the ship. The silver lining was we got half our money back. As much as I don't want to miss Bermuda 2 years in a row, i much rather be safe than sorry, I trust whatever decision they make.

I just finished reading all 180 posts in this thread. :-)

We are supposed to sail Saturday on Anthem out of Cape Liberty to Bermuda. Waiting to see what happens. Right now, Anthem is in Halifax on a scheduled 9-day Canada/NE cruise, so no hurricane impact. If our itinerary does change, I wonder how close to Saturday we would be notified? I saw one poster say last year, it was 2 days early.

RE: the joker who said "I'd rather sail in a hurricane than go to Nassau." Well, haha. You know what? Nobody says you're forced to get off the ship when you're in ANY port, so if you're not a fan of Nassau, just stay onboard and enjoy having most of the ship to yourselves. We've done exactly that on more than one occasion and it was very enjoyable!

  5. You can't do a cruise to no where, you have to go to a foreign port. Whether you go to Canada or Bermuda, at least one, if not both of the storms are going to be an issue.

Hopefully, Anthem can come down from Canada as planned so you all can leave on Saturday and try to get out to calmer waters as quickly as possible.

i know i know, I said that! I was being funny

  6. The problem is, if it doesn't go there it has to go to NE and Canada (for those of you who don't know, by law a cruise ship HAS to go to a foreign port, hence Canada) I mean the weather is no better there! Let's do a cruise to no where where there are no hurricanes, is that even possible right now? Going to suck if we don't go to Bermuda :( Even though I go every year, I would still miss it. I've been doing Bermuda is September the last 9 years, only once it was diverted and that an NCL cruise that just sucked the entire time.

  7. Thank you I hope so too, Bermuda is out favorite place in the world, would be bummed to not go there. So far looks good, but this Jose got to get his but moving or go away LOL

Sorry, it's just an expression. For us, travel is all about experiencing something different than what we are used to, and being flexible when things don't go as planned. We would take such a situation as an opportunity to see and do something we hadn't chosen. Who knows, we might end up liking it! But I do hope you get the tropical vacation you are hoping for!
  8. Considering the fact that, I don't know, you don't KNOW ME don't tell me I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face. I don't like scenery, I don't like "cool weather" and I don't have any interest in Canada, if I did I would book a cruise there. The cruise line would have to do what it needs to do and I know that, I rather stay on the ship and hang out then go to Canada. If there isn't sun and a beach I have no interest. I think that's my choice and that's ok.

Well, that would be a shame, and rather like cutting off your nose to spite your face. There is lovely scenery, history, and activities in the ports.

But I do hope you get to go to Bermuda as planned!

  9. I leave on Sept 23

Two years ago our 5 night Bermuda sailing from Cape Liberty went to St. Johns' New Brunswick. I am also on Saturday's sailing.

Anthem of the Seas: September 9 Bermuda cruise

While it is our intention to provide confirmation on our specific plans 48 hours prior to departure; the situation with Hurricane Irma and its impact on our Bermuda itinerary is unpredictable. We are actively monitoring the weather systems in the Atlantic for additional clarity. Please know that we are confirmed to sail on Saturday and it is our intent to go to Bermuda. If the weather becomes problematic, we will provide an alternative itinerary.

We will be working with local authorities to assess and understand the impact of Irma and when it is appropriate to visit. If the impact of the storm requires us to make a change we will of course notify you immediately.
