I did not see the lighthouse when we arrived into Portland in the morning. In the afternoon when we left Portland bound for Bar Harbor we did sail towards south and did see the lighthouse on our Starboard side before heading north.

This the best I could do with my mobile.

Boston is nothing but history and things to do. I lived in Boston for many years. You could spend a week touring and still not hit all the high points. A few things beside museums, sporting parks, etc would be: Boston Freedom Trail Walking Tour, Boston Duck Tour, Boston Hop-on Hop-off Trolley Tour, Harbor Cruise Tours, USS Constitution, Cruise, Bunker Hill, Faneuil Hall, Boston Public Garden.

 

Cambridge just across the Charles River, Lexington & Concord 30 to 45 minutes away, Salem 45 Minutes, Plymouth 1.5 hours away. maybe if you posted what interest you it would be better.

3 of us will be in Boston for one day in early October 2018. Would appreciate any suggestions for private companies/small group tours of the city and surrounding area. Have seen the HOHO tours, and we can go that way, but would like to see what more experienced travelers suggest first...thank you in advance!

What is your hotel budget? What are your bed size requirements for 3 people? Can you do 2 doubles? A king and sofabed? Two queens are hard to find. I assume you are flying in - what time do you arrive? Dinner requirements? Do you use Uber or Lyft? Any New York sightseeing objectives?

If we could stay at less than $200 for the hotel, it would be great. Almost any room type would be good...we can adapt for one night. Flying in late afternoon or evening. We were thinking about a shuttle to the hotel if the property doesn't have one. And not fussy about dinner as long as the food is good!

My two friends and I are cruising in October out of Cape Liberty and have never been there. Any suggestions for a moderately priced hotel for the night before we leave? And is a shuttle from the hotel a better idea than a taxi? Thank you in advance for making it easier for us! (Newbie jitters...)
