  1. We often travel with 4 in a balcony room, although have never been on the magic. We each use a 25" suitcase and have had no problems fitting them under the bed. If you also have the smaller carry on suitcases, then you can just store them inside the larger ones under the bed.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was planning to do too! Then Mom asked if my suitcase would fit under the bed and I had a moment of panic, lol!! :o

  2. I am starting to pack to board the Magic next week! We will be 4 in a balcony room, (category 8B). Mom will meet us at the port, I'll be packing for myself, husband and daughter.

What size luggage will fit under the bed? We have a larger suitcase that I'd prefer to pack but only if it fits under the bed. I don't want to use up closet space with my luggage.

    Thanks for any suggestions!!

  3. I am on the ship in 16 days, and loved reading about your days at Amber Cove and St. Thomas.

Amber Cove we have reserved the Ocean Cabana (me, DH, daughter (9) & mom (70s). I figure we can take daughter to the pool slide, and zipline and enjoy the cabana too. Mom really shouldn't get much sun and hubby wants to paddle board too which I've read is in the same section. Expensive but so looking forward to the relaxation!

At St. Thomas we have also booked the Champagne Catamaran. We'd like to do the Skyride to Paradise Pt. after the snorkeling, but don't know if we'll be too tired when we return. Did you feel in need of a rest after?

    Thanks!

  4. The RFP on the Magic is so much fun!! It is kid friendly. They have the ring & hook games on the tables, shuffle board, checkers and the bean bag toss game outside.

Try the fried pigeon peas, they're really good.

    It's such a fun atmosphere!

Thanks, I'm really excited to play shuffleboard with my daughter. There was a shuffleboard table where my dad used to take us kids when we were little. Good times, good memories.

  5. The RFP on Magic was my absolute favorite place to hang out. I just loved the girls in there. I dont remember snacks but I never asked for any. Various food items for fee will be on a menu. I didnt try any but what I saw looked great and prices seemed reasonable.

They were outstanding to my 5 year old nephew! If you like mojitos, Id suggest trying their Ting mojito. It was most excellent!

Yes, I do like mojitos! My hubby makes a great mojito, so we'll have to order up some Ting mojitos just for a taste test!! :D

  6. A few questions, since I've read a lot of positive comments on Red Frog Pub...

What is there to do when relaxing in the Red Frog Pub (ie..Is this where the shuffle board table is? Sports on TV?)

What kind of snacks are offered and which foods would be an extra cost?

Is Red Frog kid friendly for a 10-yr old?

Any difference for Red Frog on each ship? I'll be on the Magic.

Thanks! For all the reading I've done the past few months, the closer September comes, the more questions I think of. 30 days!!!!! :D

  7. Neodymium magnets worked on the Carnival Legend. We used them to hold up our 30th wedding anniversary decorations. The doors are metal (on that ship), but require very strong magnets because of the thick covering that makes them look like they are made of wood. The good news is these magnets can be very small and work fine. The bad news is they can get lost in your luggage and cause major headaches at security screening. The magnetic field creates a large black spot on the viewing screen. Be sure to keep them out of your luggage if you decide to use them. Voice of experience and embarrassment here.

OMG!! LOL!!! Things like this always happen to my husband because he is a gadget guy and has things on his keychain that sometimes is not allowed through security (like a tool that will cut your seatbelt if your car crashes in the water). This has helped me decide, I'll go for the Command Strips!!!

  8. I use command strips/hooks and or magnets. I prefer using magnets since it is quicker and reusable.

Will the magnets work on all Carnival ships? I've used them on Disney but I think when I was on the Paradise they didn't work. I'll be on Carnival Magic in Sept and like to make something fun for the door. Don't know if I should go with magnet or Command Strips.

  9. Happy to have YTD on the Magic in September! We've always done early dining, this will be our first experience with YTD.

We are a family of 4 (3 adults, 1 child), and I'd like to know if anyone suggests requesting a specific seating area in the dining room. Are window seats available? We'll likely dine no later than 6:30 or 7 so the sun should be up and I'd love to be able to look out at the sunset if we're still dining at that time.

Anyone with favorite servers on the Magic?

    Any other tips for YTD?

  10. I've looked at some of the Snorkel/Dive excursions offered that I can book online. I'd like to know if any of these are offered at the port if you haven't booked ahead of time? Grand Turk is our last stop and I don't know if the family will just want to kick back at the beach or do an excursion.

My concern is that the Conquest docks at 8am the same day, and the Magic (which I'll be on!!!!) doesn't dock until Noon. So Margaritaville and the beach at the port will likely be totally packed.

If there are people at the port offering a snorkel trip to the Wall, I can wait and see what we want to do while we're there.

    Thanks for any help!

  11. Oh no, hope this will only be a small glitch in your planning.

Since your letter states that they will still have kids programming, hopefully that means that they will have events for the little ones at different locations, such as a dance party in one of the clubs that my daughter (6 at the time) loved on our last cruise. This event was a "drop off" event in the afternoon on a sea day, so it was still kids only, we dropped her off for the party and picked her up about 60-90 minutes later.

I hope you all have a great time!

  12. Hi all,

We're sailing on the Magic in Sept :D:D:D

My 9 yr old has enjoyed the kids clubs on previous cruises, she's pretty sociable. But now she's at an age that she can sign in & out if permitted. I do not intend to allow her to sign in & out by herself, but have no objection if there is a group activity with counselors outside of the club area.

Can anyone tell me if they bring the 9-11 yr olds out of the club for group activities? Also what are some of the activites for this age group in or out of the club?

    Thanks!

  13. I'm looking for suggestions for arriving at Port Canaveral for my Magic Cruise in Sept. FTTF is sold out, and we are not yet Platinum (okay, really not even close yet, this will be our 3rd cruise on Carnival and first out of Port Canaveral)

I've checked my Boarding Pass, we do not have an assigned check-in time. I do not mind getting to the port early if I can get inside (not wait on a line outside in the heat), and hopefully get a low boarding number, but the "official" Carnival information indicates check-in does not start until 12:30? I know I've read plenty of reviews where folks have checked in earlier and been on board around that time.

On the "later" side of arriving, what time would you arrive so you'd be there after the long check-in lines dissipated?

(As I said, I don't mind getting there early, but this will be a family debate until we are up and on our way!):p:D

    Thanks for any recommendations!

  14. The spa and the gym are next to each other. The spa side has a controlled access door that leads into the T-pool and various saunas along with one special shower.

The gym side is open to everyone and the locker rooms have a couple of large showers and a smaller sauna. I don't recall a steam room.

That makes sense. Thanks for your help, it clears up the fog that invaded my brain last night trying to figure it out ;)

  15. Sailing on the Magic in September. My mom has always enjoyed going for a steam or sauna. Are there any services, such as the steam, sauna, or even the showers in the Spa area that are included with the cruise?

I saw that a 7-day pass is available for $139 single / $219 couple for the Thermal Suite & Thallassotherapy Pool, or $40 for a day pass if its not sold out. We have 3 adults and not sure if we'll make use of the spa area, or be just as happy if we find a spot to sit over at Serenity.

  16. We just returned and we had Leo and he was awesome ! Will definately use their service again when we go back to Cozumel. He took us anywhere we wanted to go and was very informative on the history of Cozumel.

The service was excellent. We have always been leary about using a private tour on the islands, but after reading so many positive reviews we gave it a try. Was very well worth the money we spent ! Had a great day !

We are scheduled with Leo in just 2 weeks! We are doing the chocolate factory but really don't know what else to do with our dd(6) and mil for the day. Playa Bonita looked fun and pretty. Any suggestions from your day?
