What does a meet and mingle Cruise Critic party consist of? Our roll call has a hundred and eighteen signed up.

We are a group of 18 people that will be on the same cruise with you. We are staying pre-cruise at the Drury and then again post Cruise. I've been concerned about how to get to the cruise terminal since our hotel is right next to the parade route on the other side. I'm hoping taxis won't cost a fortune since they will have to go all the way around I'm assuming. Any advice how to get to and from the hotel to the cruise port including after the cruise is over where we are staying the last 3 days of Mardi Gras.

We are staying pre and post cruise at the Drury. How bad will traffic be to get to the cruise port on Feb 19th and back to hotel after cruise on Sunday Feb 26th? I'm having a panic attack about closed roads due to parade route right next to our hotel ... Any suggestions or help

I advise against it. We rented ATVs and a car purposely backed into one of the guys in our group when we were stopped. They police came and they said he was at fault and demanded $1000 cash or he was going to jail - we only had $650 and had to negotiate the fine down so they would release him. You're young and a target. I say rent an excursion van driver for the day and let them drive you where ever you wanted to go - be safe.

Can someone tell me if you can open the dividers between the balconies on the Summit ? Or verandas as they are called.

My work (military) has blocked the Edventures website - says its not safe due to phishing.

I used the 7200 points towards $50 OBC and sent in the request. All I got back from MC was that it was aproved for the $50. The $ never showed up before I sailed on my S&S/documents. I figured I would just wait until after I got back and then complain with MC if it didnt. Well, sure enough when were getting on the ship and being handed our S&S cards the lady said as she handed me mine: "And you also have $50 On board credit on your account". - Yippie, This is a great way to start off a cruise!!!! so - they will show up and it was on the first day!

I would just watch what you get in Mexico - Ive had 2 problems with them.

One time I thought I was getting a bottle with 100 pills in it -I saw the bottle, handled the bottle and then purchased it. But between buying and recieving it - they did a switcheroo when they turned and put it in the sack for me and I got home with a bottle that only had 50 pills in it. I watch real close now and check before I leave the store.

And the second problem was - when I got the pills home (Ethromycin) and opened the seal on the bottle they smelled so bad (like the fertalizer I put out on my lawn) that I threw them out. So Im cautious on what I get now in Mexico.

Okay, I want to be sure I have this straight. (Sorry, I am a slow learner.). And, I am not referring to platinum pins.

 

1. Carnival used to give out free pins at PG parties but now does not, correct?

 

2. You may purchase ship pins in the gift shop now, correct? Are these the small gold

tone pins with the ship's name engraved?

 

I am asking because I purchased pins on my first two cruises. On our Dream cruise there were no pins with the ship's name. I may have missed them somewhere though I did ask in the gift shop.

 

I purchase pins at special events and all our travels. I believe I saw some really neat display ideas/frames on Etsy but they were rather expensive.

1. Correct - no more pins at past guest party.

2. Correct - so far I have seen the gold ship pin with the ships name on it on the ships I have sailed on in the gift shops. None of the red funnel pins as before are sold.

Just returned from San Juan - here the scoop on Victory...

They sell booze at the first corner. Didnt buy from the liquor store but they were selling mini bottles outside of it. Even if you did buy at the liquor store - no problem just stuffing your purchase in your carry-on bag. My friends and I purchased A LOT of minis. Sticking them in pockets, purses, bags. As you round the second corner is a check point to scan you and your bags. (I frankly think these people could care less what you have as I had a bottle of wine and a almost full water bottle in my bag and they never took the time to look at either). We also bought water and coke at that stop and they went through the scanners without even a second look. Then as you reach the end of the walkway after that scanning you come to a couple of carnival guys next to another scanner. We all just walked past them with our purses and bags but one of our guys beeped so they made him go back through and (of corse his pockets were bulging from the minis-7 in each pocket) He actually beeped because of his belt buckel - he had to take that off & they asked if he had anything in his pockets - well of course he fessed up and pulled out all the minis which they confiscated at that time. I think if he would have kept his mouth shut he would have gotten away with it.

We also had 16 checked luggage bags that had rum runners in most of them. All bags got to the rooms but 2. One was because it had a mini DVD player in it which they had to pull out and show what it was. The other because she had 4 bottles of wine in it. She had to surrender 3 of the bottles until the end of the cruise. So carry any WINE you plan on bringing on board dont check it. Hope this helps... We had a blast doing our cabin crawl with our libations...

My only stamp from all of my cruises is the one I got in Guatemala. They stamp it just after you leave the ship and enter into the area where they have all the shopping. I will leave mine with the pursers desk on my next cruise since we hit 7 islands in 7 days.

Besides it helps you find your cabin much easier after a night of partying and walking down a hall where all the doors look the same.
