  1. The new on board shops do not really have a stock of basics anymore, what they do have is very expensive, so try not to forget toothpaste, tissues, (especially tissues) for the dreaded cabin cough. Other than that you can get by, magnets are a good idea to attach tickets and horizon to cabin wall.

  2. Hi, are the photo packages the same price if we buy them in advance or on board? We are on Britannia for a week, and I see an unlimited package for £120 or a 10 photo package for £70

Will they be the same price on board or is this discounted for advance purchase? When we've sailed NCL and MSC it's always been cheaper in advance.

We are just off Aurora, the onboard offers were better than the pre book prices. The 10 picture package was reduced to £56 one day and the unlimited package was £100. They also had lots of buy one get one free offers. Normal prices were £10 per picture and £16 for a formal night, so the packages are very good value. Also picture book with all sorts of pictures of ship and details of itinerary and then 6 pictures of your choice for £30 very good.

  3. We will always opt for smaller to mid sized ship's, we enjoy the relaxed atmosphere they offer. That is without the hustle bustle of the all singing dancing entertainment like wave machines, climbing wall, go carts etc ect etc. We ultimately go on a cruise, to cruise, relax , eat, drink watch a few shows and visit interesting ports. Traditional cruising at its best I suppose. Not all changes are good ones, although that is just my opinion of course.

  4. Nevasa was my 1st cruise, an educational school trip to the Med aged 15. Fast forward 30 years with a 25th wedding anniversary to celebrate, I managed to covince hubby that a cruise would be special. we decided on Pacific Princess ( The Love Boat) around the Holy Lands, wonderful ship, fantastic 2 weeks. Since then we have celebrated each significant anniversary with a dream holiday, another with Princess , then P & O who we love, 45th Anniversary this year, Aurora and Norway awaiting us.

  5. I am sad that the traditional elements of cruising appear to be dissappearing from the P & O brand. I love the opportunity to take afternoon tea, makes a light snack an occasion and a friendly chat with fellow cruisers. I also love to dress for Dinner every night, it is part of the cruise culture to my mind. With all of these traditional elements going, it will become just a mode of travel rather than a cruise experience.

As some one suggested there are enough ship's in the fleet for a mixture of the more traditional and then the less formal concept, to suit everyone's tastes. You would know at time of booking what you were signing up for at least.
