Thank you have been on the boards and was told you don't get your cabin card until your cabin is ready after 1:30. Hubby is not thrilled, first had to take a balcony (only option available late booking) now cards left in the hall. Told him we will just check charges day one.

Me I plan to have a lovely adventure, I'm on a cruise and I make my own enjoyment. I booked us when I needed to cancel our anniversary trip to Venice. Can't fly at this time and while looking at home port (northeast) saw San Marco 😁, it had to be a sign so I booked, but only six months out so took a balcony. Had my favorite area aft but description didn't list a sofa (odd shape cabin 7495). Been watching face book for changes being made.

Plan to arrive after lunch but wanted to drop the carry one off hence FTTF would be good for me, but will just park someplace and wait. Told I would use boarding pass if I wanted a drink and he would get a soda. I'm going for the ship this trip though the two ports are new for me as a bonus, I don't count HMC as a port I'm not a beach person.

Getting excited, planning is half the fun, Laura

Carnival changed the cabin card distribution several years ago in order to speed up the check-in process. Assuming it will be the same as on other Carnival ships, your card will be in a sealed envelope in the message holder at your door.  This has worked very well, and I’m sure it will for all of us too!

Now question time. Just found out we don't get our cabin cards until cabin is ready and steward will give us our sail and sign cards.

Checked on FTTF as we can't get a suite (all booked) and I can't stand in a two hour line so will arrive after lunch time maybe about 1-1:30. Hopefully line are shorter as most folks want to be on board early.

Question 1 - Does CCL enforce the assigned boarding time?

Question 2 - Does anybody know how many outlets are in a balcony cabin? Gave up cabin 7495 because no sofa now in a standard balcony.

Question 3 - Has anybody done FTTF? And is this made available after final payment?

Question 4 - Has anybody purchased the cans of soda to be delivered to the cabin?

Well sure will have more questions having not sailed Carnival in almost 10 years.

    Thanks, Laura

You probably know that our ship has not yet sailed as Carnival Venezia, as it has been undergoing some changes in Spain for several weeks.  Some of your questions may not be knowable yet.  This ship was built just a few years ago for the Chinese market, so it will probably will have gone through some major refitting.
    1) Carnival has been making an effort to enforce boarding times.  In most ports they will have separate lines set up for different times.  If you arrive early you go into the line for your time slot, and you will eventually get on, possible earlier than your assigned time. Of course, I can’t really know how it will be done at this particular terminal.
2] probably nobody yet knows about electrical outlets,  but it is likely that there will be a couple of North American 110/120v outlets, and at least one European 220/240v outlet. (I’m assuming that the Chinese outlets will have been replaced.)  I would be almost certain that there will be some USB outlets as well.
    3) I’ve never purchased FTTF, because I’m too patient and too cheap.  Carnival needs the money, so I’ll encourage others to pay for it.  I’ve heard that there is a finite number of these sold, so I think waiting too long may leave you out.

4] I have purchased beverages in advance, and they have always been waiting in my cabin when I arrived.

Carnival, like other cruise lines, has changed a lot in 10 years. I’d imagine you may be disappointed in some changes, and pleased with others.  This ship is likely to be somewhat different than other Carnival ships. My advice is just accept what there is, and don’t let any frustration ruin this great cruise!   Others may have better answers to your questions, but some Roll Calls are slow, and I thought I’d offer what I could!

  3. There is really nothing scary in Cabo, unless it is the traffic. Be care when crossing the street. As a solo, you could consider cruising on Norwegian, especially on a ship (such as Bliss) that has studio cabins. It's easy to meet plenty of other solo travelers. It's fun to make friends with whom you can wander around in port.

  4. It's not a big concern, I was just wondering. I could probably find pictures of the solo lounge if I actually looked. LOL Thank you for your help :)

Breakaway and Getaway have identical studio lounges, and both have a small bar. The bartender is brought in each day for the solo meeting. Escape does not have a bar, although the solo host may have a bar server come in to take orders at the solo meeting.

  5. I actually bring my own disposable hot beverage cups. It's hard to walk around with one of those little coffee mugs without spilling. There was a short period of time a couple of years ago when The new CEO of NCL made a rule against taking any food to go. That lasted only a few weeks following the outcry from passengers.

  6. Unless it has changed in the past few weeks, O'Sheehans on Escape has a new and different regular menu than any of the other ships. As far as I know, it has not rolled out anywhere else yet. They do have some nightly specials, and prime rib and chicken and waffles fall into that category.

  7. You two will absolutely be welcomed in the daily solo travelers meetings. Be sure to go to the very first one on embarkation day. On the first day it often starts in a "public" area, then moves to the studio lounge for each subsequent day!

  8. Unfortunately, their prices change faster than they are updated on the website. I know how you feel. I was stuck on this with a transatlantic I have with NCL coming up in April. I think they underpriced it initially, and them it was going up almost every day for a while. I have to join with the group letting you know that pursuing this will be a waste of your time.

  9. My booking may be slightly different as I have not reached the final payment date, but here's where I see my prepaid grats. Online where the cruise details are located, there are tabs across the page for overview, messages, cruise planner, payments, etc. Under the payments tab, after "cruise fare" is "other items". One of my other items is "Prepaid Gratuities". Maybe yours is there too?

  10. Hi, all. Been lurking; I'm in a studio on the Getaway New Years cruise. This chart says the Haven restaurant and lounge are available to studio guests. Is that still true?

Absolutely NOT. Never has been as far as I've ever know. I've done six cruises in the studios. I see the chart, but I have no idea what that means. If somebody else does, I'll sure be interested in learning.

  11. There's something at Spice H2o nearly every night. In addition to 80s night and the white hot (or glow) party, there will usually be a Latin night, and Norwegian Night Out (on the slightly more "formal" night). Whatever they have for you, nobody does the nightly parties like Norwegian.

  12. They definitely do "check tickets" at For the Record. When the doors open there will be a line. They scan your card, which reflects your reservation. (I have seen them let in people who were not pre-booked, but I wouldn't count in that.) The good news is that there will be a standby line at the door. If you are not able to get a reservation, I would get in the standby line at least 30 minutes prior to show time. At 10 minutes prior they will start taking standbys. I have never failed to get in from the standby line, although sometimes it may be necessary to split up your bunch if it's a large group.

  13. Sadly, the Azure Seas was beached and broken up for scrap metal in Chittagong, Bangladesh on November 5, 2003. She ended her life as Ocean Breeze. I have a travel agency poster of her as "S.S. Azure Seas, L.A.'s first cruise ship" I think about her every day.
