  1. Food is not complimentary, as it has been well and truly paid for, as part of the cruise fare.

Part of the problem, as I see it, is that cruiselines sell a dream, on which they can no longer deliver. The marketing doesn't match the reality, hence people's disappointment.

I long ago learnt not to attend events, like "talks", which were just held to sell services to passengers.

Like you, I enjoy myself whatever I do, but I am not fooled by some of the recent enhancements by some cruiselines.

Marion, as a seasoned traveller, like yourself, we have learnt that you get what you pay for. We have never had a bad day at sea, We can choose what we want. You will always get the groaners, expecting the dream like you say

that is advertised. We know that shipboard life can be exciting, relaxing, or on a bad day a sea with rough weather - horrible. Just choose your cabin carefully, do the research. It is sites like Cruise Critic that is invaluable to first time cruisers. Mid ship balcony is the way we go. Looking forward to our South Pacific Journey hopefully on calm waters.

  2. We are booked on the 13/3/2016 from Brisbane Cruise, As we have cruised with many companies. When it comes to Australian Cruising, we get the feeling that because we are laid back in nature, that they will not go that extra mile like on the European and Baltic cruises. However saying that I am going to hold my reservations and test the waters ourselves. I have found that the Princess Cruises were disappointing in Australian and Asian waters. It will remain to see how RBL go. We have been using RBL for a long time and do prefer them. It will be interesting to see if they have the service we have experienced abroad in Australian waters.

  3. With the new dedicated mezzanine check in level now operational we are able to start check in a lot earlier as we do not have to wait for the customs area to be cleared so we are aiming to start check in around 9:30 ish but passengers checking in early may still need to wait till the ship is cleared and ready for new guests which normally is around 10:30 -10:45.

If you are at the OPT at 10:30am you will be able to go straight through to the new Gold C&A line and be on board by 11:00. Disregard the 2:00pm time on your docs, by then the vast majority of guests(except a few stragglers ) will be on board.

Thank You For The Update Travelling On Diamond 27th March. As We Have Luggage For Three We Are Not Wanting To Carry It Around Sydney With Us .as We are On Caribe Wecwerecadvised That 3pm Was Check In. So Relieved That We Dont Have To Wait Till Then We Look Forward To Comment On The Terminal .

  4. Hello Everyone, Just found this group, We are Queenslanders who love to cruise. Our most recent one was to the Mediterranean on Mariner or the Seas which was fantastic.

Have already booked a cruise for 2014 and one for 2015. I think the sea salt has got into our blood. Gail

Can you provide any other suggestions? I'm not interested in doing the train to Harwich. I will be staying at the Doubletree Westminster for 3 days prior. The Londontoolkit bus provides hotel pickup.

    Thanks, Roseanna

We also are planning to go up to Harwich the day before 25.5.2014 and thought we could get a bus. Not happy about the stairs at the station with luggage. Private Car are very expensive I think the Cruise company charge around $100 Australian per person not sure on a return. But Im not sure if they go up the day before the cruise or just on the cruise day. If you find out anything let me know.
