  1. On some cruise lines if you book in advance the have a lowest price guarantee and will give you cheaper price if you exact category price drops during. This guarantee often expires 60 days before sail date, so that if the price drops say on 45 days til the ship sails you're not guarantee.

I tried to find this information at the Holland American site but couldn't. Does anybody know if they offer a lowest price guarantee and at what point is it no longer valid (30day to sail? 60 days?)

    Thanks

  2. We were on a cruise in the Caribbean when hurricane Tomas was also there, in the Caribbean. Our ship made a change in it's itinerary and traveled 100's of miles south of Tomas. Tomas was proceeding northerly. Our ship then at one point turn around and began coming north again.

The only difference for us was that we missed a port of call, and for a few days the weather was overcast with some rain. But the seas were calm. We still had a great time!

  3. LuLu hi, that's a good idea.:)

A funny thing about being overdressed vs underdressed.

On a NCL cruise, I had my tux on and my wife wore a formal evening gown. We head out to dinner and EVERYONE we pass is wearing shorts and t-shirts.

My wife was uncomfortable being overdressed, but I was OK with it myself.

Last cruise, we were both a bit under dressed, my wife was OK with that, but I felt out of place.

So I guess it depends on the person and of course just how formal or informal the ship is.

  4. I use to take a tux with me. The last cruise I didn't take any dressy clothes, so I was reluctant to go to the formal nights in just dockers and a button up shirt, so ended up in the buffet for dinner instead. That was a bummer for my wife. So....

Next cruise I will take at least something that is dressy.
