I really don't care what people are wearing, as long as they're clean and presentable.

I totally agree with  this statement.  As long as you are comfortable it should matter what you wear as long as you have something on LOL.

  2. People should wear what they want to dine in the MDR be it a tux or long gown and a tiara  or shorts and a tee shirt or come naked if they want.  I don't care, I don't look at others for how they are dressed nor do I want them to look at me.  I am on a cruise to relax, enjoy good food and drinks and spend time with my loved ones. not to judge others.

  3. I personally do not care what people wear to the dining on any given night.  My  and my DW's only request is that people be respectful of others in the dining room and enjoy the company of loved ones,  dear friends and new friends they have made on board.   If you want to dress up in a tux or long grown and tiara (lol) go for it and enjoy it, if you don't thats ok too.  I personally feel a nice pair of jeans/slacks, collared or polo shirt and loafers for myself and a pair of jeans/slacks, nice top or casual dress  for my wife is fine for any night on any cruise.  If you don't want to change  out of the shorts, tee shirt and sandals head to the Lido as we have noticed more people are doing every cruise we have taken on four different cruise lines.  Also, we have done 2 Princess cruises and 2 HAL cruises in the last 3 years and the majority of people are not dressing formally any more on gala/formal nights.

  4. The Hyatt House in Dania Beach is the best of the 4 hotels we have stayed near the FLL Airport and Port Everglades.  Free shuttle to airport, excellent breakfast included, very clean , quiet and reasonable cost to take a shuttle to the cruise port.  Decent shopping near by, easy taxi or Uber to Sawgrass Mills Mall,  lots of restaurants within walking distance.

  5. We have cruise both lines twice since 2015.  I love the Regal/Royal Princess ships they are a class act for sure.  The MDR (we ate most dinners in the lido buffet as it was more relaxing and a lot and I mean a lot of items to choose from) is so so however,  but the Crown Grill is amazing.  The ships themselves are very well laid off, spacious feeling as was our mini suite.

The Nieuw Amsterdam is smaller, quieter, MDR food is much better, lido buffet isn't as good as Princess, casino is very small and smoky.  However,  if you are going on a cruise to relax have a few drinks and some good food  for a reasonable price you cannot go wrong with Holland America.  We are booked on them again for later this year as their prices are lower than the other lines we have been on (Celebrity, NCL, and Princess) for a balcony stateroom with beverage package and  speciality dining.

  6. My post is not from 4 months ago it is a new one I created this morning.  NCL is the worst of any of the lines we have sailed be it for food or service.  Even on a previous cruise on the Getaway (we stayed in the Haven) the food except for the Haven restaurant wasn't much better but we wanted to give NCL another chance as others rave about this line so much.

We are not partial to any line nor are we overly fussy but when other lines have superior food and service for the same price or less than NCL you begin to realize it is not as good of value as compared to others.  Moderno was awful meat was tough, over salted, the salad bar was mediocre, desserts were terrible as was the service.  However, if you read my post I praised Cagneys, it was wonderful both times we ate there.  NCL has its fans and thats great and if you have a wonderful experience with them that is fantastic but no one should be criticized for having different opinions  of this cruise line.

  7. The food in the Lido was awful during our Nov 4, 2018 Western Caribbean cruise on the NCL Getaway, food was cold, tasteless, poor quality and very unappealing.  The main dining rooms were hit or miss some entrees excellent others disgusting.  Moderno was the worst meal we have ever had in any restaurant on a cruise ship!  Cagney's was great however, glad we ate there twice on this cruise.  NCL has a long way to go to match the wonderful food we have had on Celebrity, Holland America and Princess.

  8. Was on the Getaway 4 years ago and noticed most men wore shorts in all the dining venues. Is this still the case? Is a nice Tommy Hilfiger polo shirt /button down shirt and khaki shorts appropriate in Cagneys, Moderno , Taste and Savor ? I am trying to pack as lightly as possible this time.
