  1. You must do what suits you and yours, and make sure you enjoy yourselves.

I love the formal nights as it's rare that I get the opportunity to go "posh" (I'm a t-shirt and shorts/jeans type of guy), after the meal a few drinks and a boogie I make my way to the casino and pretend to be James Bond.... And guess what? Nobody cares![emoji106]🏼[emoji12][emoji106]🏼

The best way to be! :D

(Now i'll think of everyone being James Bond when I see them off to dinner haha)

  2. Once again, Thank you all for the tips :-)

The main dining room wont be out for us totally just on the nights required to wear DJ's/dresses.

For us as a family personally, we go on holiday to relax and we dont feel that having a dress up night really adds to our experience, on these nights we will happily dine in the buffet and then enjoy some family time, maybe watching the Fjords go by from the balcony or playing some games.

With 3 kids, this is just one less thing I dont have to remember to pack too lol

We picked up our tickets yesterday and are all ready for our holiday to now begin. :)

  3. Thank you all so so much for the tips! :-)

Booking at last minute really threw me as I would've been on here for weeks before booking a cruise, checking the rooms, entertainment, food etc.

So doing it the wrong way round (booking and then researching) has knocked me and really panicked that I had not done the right thing.

Afternoon tea sounds lovely (and delicious) and thanks for the tips for the theatre seats.

Formal night still makes me suck my teeth like a builder... lol

Not long to go now and I think the part I am finding so exciting is sailing from Southampton, I've heard it is a lovely place to sail out of. :)

  4. Hi Everyone,

Booked a Fjords cruise with P&O this week as a last minute thing due to being caught in the Tunisia issues, I have only ever cruised twice and both times with NCL - also have never cruised with kids before. (aged 9, 13 and 15)

Any tips on the differences I can expect between the two companies?

Also we are not fussed on the formal nights, can we give these a miss? I assume we can go to the buffet on these nights so we are out of the way.

Very much looking forward to the cruise and any hints and tips would be most grateful.

Travelling on Azura with a balcony and an inside room between the 5 of us.

    Thanks :)

  5. Thank you all for your help, I have now booked room 9561 which as you describe, is a sofa bed.

I may take up your tip and ask for a rollaway bed to separate them.

Once again many thanks and I can now start to finally look forward to the actual cruise :)

  6. Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help as me, the TA and RCCL seem to have conflicting information.

I am travelling in a family group of 6.

Firstly - Room 1804 PF grade family panoramic Ocean View.

RCCL website states this is for 4 people only but when my TA called customer services they said it was for 6 - Double bed, bunk bed and sofa bed - what is correct?

Also looking on the website it is offering me rooms 1806, 1856 & 1866 as a P2 grade also stating this fits 6, when my TA called customer services they said these rooms dont exist?! and offered room 1804...

Anyone been in these rooms and know what the actual score is?

FYI would much prefer 1804 as was looking at 2 inside rooms and 1804 only comes out at £300 more!

Thank you for any help!

  7. I was in an inside accessible room for 4 last year on Navigator, so they do exist!!

So they are not myth then :D

Back on to the TA then, she assured me there would be room in a standard inside and while I do believe her (looking at the pictures of the room type) I think it would be a sqeeze with the 4 of us and a wheelchair.

    Thank you for your help.

  8. Hi all, wondering if you could help, I am (hoping) to travel with my husband, daughter (10) and son (14) on RCCL Navigator of the seas next year and am about to book, my son is a wheelchair user and the TA has quoted on a standard inside room.

My question is can I book a accesible room that takes 4? or are they only for 2? I dont want to book 2 rooms as this pushes the price up.

    Any help greatly appreciated :-)

  9. I'm really confused - I've booked via the NCL website (UK) and want to make final payment, but I can't find any way to do it online?

I log in, I can see that it says my 'trip milestone' is "pay" so I click that - but no, that takes me nowhere.

I click "payment status" that give me information, but nowhere to actually pay. I'm genuinely at a loss - how the heck do I give them my money?

I had the same issue - apprently the only way to do it is to call them and pay.

    :)

  10. Last February we did not have a credit card authorized. We gave them 300 (this was for two of us) and that was fine. We booked an excursion that took us over that amount, and just walked down the counter to the account person and added 100. We were fine the rest of the cruise.

Fantastic, thanks for the info :)

  11. Hi Sophie

We booked flights to Rome direct with BA from LHR, £150 return which I thought was really reasonable as it includes luggage, food on board etc! I'd have easily paid that with Easyjet and still have to pay for the extras!

Wow! That is a really good price, we are flying with Ryanair, glamorous!!! Haha from Stansted and paying much more than that.

Well have a great time on board! :D

    Sophie

  12. Good questions...none of which I know the answer to - but am interested as a week today I'll be on it! Very excited - as I am sure you are....we are from the same neck of the woods too!

Have a great time Daisyduke, hope the weather is great for you, let me know how it went when you return.

Yes we are from the same area, may I ask a question? How did you do your flights? through NCL as a fly-cruise or did you book them yourself? I am interested as I booked mine myself but wondering if I should have booked as a package?

    Thanks

    Sophie

  13. Wow! You guys are a fountain of knowledge, thank you!

Was enquiring about the little pool as I would've liked to get on the front just to have a look around and wander someplace new :-)

The credit issue on board - I asked because I don't want to use my credit card at all and wanted to pay for my onboard use upfront without having my card pre-authorised, I might drop an email to my PCC and see what they think.

Fab that H20 is adults only - I am going without my children as a respite break (my son is disabled so always nice to have a break child-free and enjoy adult company only) so it will be nice to have somewhere to relax that is adults only.

Thank you for confirming the tour and price, I would be really interested in taking this tour as I am fascinated how such a big ship really functions.

Thank you all for your great answers! :D

  14. Hi All,

I have various questions and I know they come across as stupid questions (especially as I have already sailed on Epic once before, so I really should know) but I am travelling with my mum (her first cruise, only my second) and I cant seem to find the answers to some things and some questions I have found differing answers so I hope all you lovely, kind and knowledgeable people can help me! :D

The pool that is shown on the front (cant find the deck number) but it is a small circular pool that I have seen in all the photos of Epic, is this general access? or for the higher room categories? I couldn't find access to it nor mention of it in the general blurb?

Due to travelling on a budget I want to pay upfront with cash when I board for my on board account, so my account is in credit and I don't have a shock when I come to disembark - I have found that some places in the T & C's say $100 per day and then in the FAQ's on the website it says $300 minimum for a 7 day cruise?! Anybody have any insight?

The pool in the H20 part, is this adults only? and do they show movies or anything like that during the day on the big screen that they have there?

I have seen from looking around at other websites that sometimes there is a tour that you can book for a behind the scenes look of the ship, anybody know if this is available on Epic? and rough cost?

Once again, very sorry for my totally inane questions.

    Happy Cruising Everybody! :D
