  1. Hello!

I see that the forum layout has changed a bit and I'm having trouble finding an answer with the search function.

Does anyone know if the Sun Princess has a self-service laundromat, and if so, do I need to bring quarters/soap/etc. with me?

    Thank you in advance! :)

  2. We were on the Prinsendam not too long ago having a similar discussion with our tablemates. The only, and biggest, complaint was that the new coffee cups' handles cause burns. They are small and not designed well, so when filled they slide down so that the hot cup touches your finger! I hear that several people complained to the MDR staff about it. I can say, it took me by surprise and made me re-consider my choice of hot tea a few times!

  3. About two years ago.

They still have the onion soup for lunch in Pinnacle and in the MDR but the wonderful, delicious one on Pinnacle dinner menu is long gone. :(

Still off topic as I don't eat crab, but I DO eat French Onion soup! I prefer the room service version better than the MDR. I usually get it at least twice per cruise. May be worth trying to see if it's close to PG's!

  4. I was just looking for something about Cellular at Sea for my MIL as her Mother has been in and out of the hospital and MIL needs to be able to get calls about her care. We'll be on an Alaskan RT from Seattle. I've never used it before. Does it cost anything to leave your cell on with Cellular at Sea and how much for phone calls? Is there a set-up fee like for the on-board internet? I saw someone said they were able to use the phone in Alaska's ports, were there any extra charges for that? She doesn't get data, so I'm just asking about phone calls.

Sorry for all the questions! Since I've never used it, I have no idea how any of it works. Any help/advice would be great. Thank you all!

    And congratulations to dee2673! :)

  5. We live close to the Hilton Diagonal Mar and I second (or 3rd) it as a great choice. It would cost about (rounding up) 20€ to get to the port by taxi and around 40€ to get to the hotel from the airport (these are prices from my house, but I'm only about a block away). Another choice, (away from the crowds, but also near the beach) is the Barcelo Atena Mar. I have stayed there and it is comfortable with views of the beach and close to public transport. The Barcelona Bus Turistic HOHO bus even has a stop out front. I can't say much for the hotels in the city center as I haven't stayed in one.

If you end up at the Hilton, try Tagliatella for Italian food or Sagardi's for tapas. Mmm!

Ok, off my Barça soap box! ;)

  6. Thanks for the info! Will think about taking small amounts of local currency and paying for the rest with Euros.

We were on the Oosterdam, but later in Feb. We didn't make it to Doubtful Sound due to a big storm in the Tasman Sea. Never got to see the fjords :( We looked into the Australian circumnavigation with CelebrIty, but decided it was too many days at sea. What did you think?

  7. I know that in some places along the Med, the countries will accept either their own currency or Euros as payment (Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia all have in the past).

Can anyone tell me if Egypt and Israel do also? If anyone knows about Georgia, Bulgaria or Romania, as well?

We'll be doing the Black Sea and Holy Land so I'm researching to see if we need to purchase foreign currencies. I don't mind having to exchange and we collect coins from the countries we visit, so I have no issues with getting back change in local currency. Just trying to work out how much/what needs to be exchanged.

    Thanks for any help!
