  1. Hi there.  Just wanted to share our experience from our first cruise with a renal scooter.

Both the cruise line and the rental company said the scooter would fit through the cabin door.

Let me tell you that it did not.  Even if it did there would have been no where in the room to store it.  This was in a standard balcony cabin.

However, our stateroom attendant told us that we could leave the scooter in the hallway during the day when we weren't using it and he would store it it out of the way and charge it at night.  Every morning it was parked out side our door ready to go.

I think this was possible since we had an aft cabin and there wasn't a lot of traffic.

We are not in an aft cabin for our upcoming cruise in October.  So fingers crossed we are able to make the same arrangement.

Just know that if you are not in an ADA cabin that the scooter will NOT fit inside or even if it did would take up a huge amount of space in the room.

  2. Does anyone have thoughts on staying at the Hilton Newark Airport?  I have the Embassy Suites booked right now but the Hilton Newark Airport is about $50 cheaper and has a restaurant on site.  We are flying in the night before our cruise on October 23rd and just need a place to crash and have dinner.

  3. I also believe you have only 30 days from the time the certificate is issued to book the cruise. This was a new requirement they just implemented recently. We received a free cruise certificate from our April Freedom cruise. We could not sail on any of the published cruise in 2018 on the back of the certificate so we used the $1000 off for a cruise in 2019. This was for a free balcony. You also have to sail within one year of the issue date.

  4. Cruisegirl6 - I'm trying to find out if the Harmony stays on ships time while in San Juan. Do you remember? I am booking a private tour and San Juan will be on Atlantic time vs Eastern/Ship time in November. I'm guessing she stays on ships time but would like confirmation.
  5. It's also good to know what Pier/Terminal your ship is docked at. In November we were sailing from Terminal 3 in FLL. I didn't know this at the time and when I requested our Uber just put in Port Everglades Terminal.

The driver was deaf and we couldn't help him with directions. He took us all the way to the other side of the port. Instead of a five minute trip it was a 35 minutes trip and three times what it should have been.

My bad and I've learned my lesson.

  6. We are Diamond and have always purchased the drink package. We do enjoy the drinks, water, specialty coffee's etc. So you just need to calculate how much you drink in an average day and decide if it's worth it for you.

I don't like the wine that is offered in the CL so we don't usually have drinks there. I also don't like the atmosphere of the CL's on the newer ships so tend to not get drinks here before dinner.

A typical day for us is an adult beverage such as a Bloody Mary in the morning or maybe an adult coffee. One or two drinks with lunch. Drinks by the pool. Drink before dinner. Drinks with dinner. Drinks after dinner. You get the point :p:D:eek:

For us it's a bargain. But as you stated in your post it's an individual decision.
