I just really prefer to be fully in charge of my booking.  I don’t use a TA or a PVP but anytime we’ve had questions or needed assistance we’ve had great service from the carnival line.

You don’t lose any control of your booking when using a PVP. You only lose control with a TA.

  2. I just got the first upgrade/upsell that I actually accepted. I have had several offers in the past but they always cost too much for it to be worth it to me. My wife and I will be on the Sunrise in October and I got an offer to go from a balcony on deck 7 to a Lido balcony for $36. We like being on Lido and usually get that if available. It wasn’t available when we made our original booking, but now that it is available and only $36 more, I accepted this one.

Not on the ship, sorry. Many on the ship are scrambling to rearrange travel, so checking in on cc probably not a high priority for them. Celebration should be next up to dock. Should dock between 1 and 2pm. Horizon just docked. Then the waiting game begins. Your embarkation will be further delayed. Not sure why communications from Carnival have stopped. Have a great cruise after you get through with today's mess.

Carnival has been providing updates approximately every two hours since early this morning. They said next update would be by 2pm.

They can, but they don't have to.  If you book online and then contact the PVP, they are helping you for free.

I completely understand and agree. However the post that I responded to stated that the PVP couldn’t help in that case. They can, but as you pointed out, they certainly don’t have to.

ALWAYS call your PVP first. They have changed the policy so that if you reserve a cabin online, they don't get credit for booking the cruise, and they can't help you with that booking once you do that.

Actually this isn’t completely true. I thought my PVP would get credit if I put it on hold but didn’t pay anything until I called him. When I called, he told me that he would not get credit since I put it on hold online, but he still helped me with making the payment and said if I need anything else for this cruise to feel free to contact him as I have done on previous cruises that I booked with him.

  6. I understand how this works for the contestant on stage. For those in the audience who have tickets, if I understand correctly you have values attached to the case numbers on your card. You must match the amounts on the cases on your card to what the amount is for that game and the more matches you get, the bigger your prize. Is that correct?  Are prizes cash going on your account or what are the prizes?

I can understand that if the excursion is away from the port area (i.e. going to a specific beach club that requires a cab ride or ziplining which requires going to a specific spot in the forest or something). this one is directly in the port area and Carnival wouldn't need to provide any formal transportation other than walking us over to it or having their staff meet us when we get off of the ship.

If you stated that in your original post, I overlooked it. If the excursion leaves directly from the port area and everything else is the same, it seems that Carnival should honor the guarantee.  I would point that out to them and ask once more for them to reconsider your request.

thanks for sharing your experience with it. They had shared that the one i linked to didn't include transportation to the actual excursion, but theirs doesn't either (even if it is implied). In every single way, the two excursions are comparable and even the names of the staff are the same in the reviews. I emailed them back to have them reconsider, but was surprised it was denied in the first place.

I have successfully submitted 2-3 excursions under the guarantee and the guarantee has been honored each time. I only submit if the excursion includes the same time, activities, locations, amenities, etc. If an excursion does not include transportation from the port to the location of the excursion, I would consider it different enough for Carnival to legitimately not apply the guarantee.

I have a cruise scheduled August 7th. I emailed them my information and proof of ownership to the applicable email address two weeks ago. Then, as a back up, I also mailed CCL my information and proof of owning more than 100 shares.  For those of you who have done this before, how long does it typically take for that OBC to be applied?

I submitted my request on June 17th and received confirmation of my obc on July 7th.

  10. I got my first ever upsell offer today. It was for a 4 day cruise on the Freedom in August. We currently have a balcony on the Lido deck which is our preferred location. We were offered to move to a suite on deck 7 for an additional $974. Obviously, I passed this “offer” up. Definitely not worth essentially doubling our cost.

  11. I will be taking a cruise with my daughters in May that stops in Costa Maya.  At this point, there are no excursions that we have decided to take.  This will be our first time to Costa Maya.  Is there much in the immediate area of the port to see/do?  Thanks in advance for any info.

  12. They don’t. They have crumbled ham and vegi’s. I have never seen bacon and they have never told us no and took it to add to his omelet. He always washes his hands and also uses the sanitary stations when he enters the buffet

Every ship I have been on in the last few years does have bacon available for omelettes. I always get bacon in mine.

  13. We have FTTF, so I know we can check in before our scheduled check in time, if we desire. Normally we arrive at the port at about the time of our scheduled check in, but this time, early times were not available when we did online check in. This will be our first time sailing out of Miami. What time does check in normally begin and what time does actual boarding normally begin in Miami?
