I have just contacted MSC re PCR test requirements for boarding Virtuosa in Dubai on the 26th March. They have stated that for fully vaccinated passengers they require a PCR test 72 hours before embarkation , even though this is not required for entry to Dubai, and then another PCR test on arrival at Dubai airport.
Does anyone have experience of the actual requirements that were applied on a recent embarkation in Dubai.
Thanks -
Showingdiva,
Many thanks for sharing your response from MSC in respect of the “six months vaccination issue”.
-
Many thanks for the update. I did contact MSC this morning and they said I could travel as I was fully vaccinated and had a Covid cert.
Enjoy the rest of your cruise and thanks again.- 2

I contacted MSC re; the health questionnaire and the specific question " Have you had a Covid 19 vaccination in the last 6 months"?
I was advised that if fully vaccinated and in possession of a Covid19 Vaccination certificate that I could travel, even if the last vaccination was more than six months before embarkation.
However I would feel much more comfortable if this could be confirmed by someone who has already travelled and whose last vaccination was outside the six month timeframe. Hopefully someone shall be able to post confirmation of this.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks Beamafar, that would be really appreciated.
We are flying Ryanair from Dublin the day before the cruise and staying a night in Barcelona afterwards.
Hopefully the flights will be relatively trouble free and we will resolve the issue over the “vaccine within six months issue.”
Enjoy your cruise and many thanks.- 1

My wife and I will be at the time of departure by about one week.

Thanks. If I get on the ship I will. Lol

Hi styles27, I’m from Ireland and it looks like this requirement is only for European cruises. Enjoy your trip

It does not mention it on the MSC website. However the question is asked in the health questionnaire contained in the e-ticket, which has to be completed prior to boarding. My cruise is due to depart from Barcelona in November but I cannot say that the same question is asked on the e-tickets for cruises departing from other regions.

I shall contact MSC direct and seek clarification on this issue and I will post their response, although I’m not hopeful of a definitive answer given the experience of many who have tried to clarify test requirements in the past few weeks.

This is contained in the e-ticket for a Mediterranean cruise departing from Barcelona in November 2021.

The MSC health questionnaire asks "have you had a Covid 19 vaccination in the last 6 months"? What if your second jab was more than 6 months before embarkation? Will you be allowed to board the ship? Has anyone else had to deal with this issue?

I also noticed the question referring to the vaccination within the last 6 months. Can you provide an update on your embarkation and how you dealt with the question ?
Hope you were able to board with no problems. -
Thanks Beamafar for the clarification. It’s just a pity that the website didn’t clearly state that it was “for passengers from”.

Just to add to the confusion with reference to the UK website. Does
COVID 19: MEASURES TO EMBARK FOR NON SCHENGEN COUNTRIES
mean for travel to non Schengen countries? Or does it mean for passengers who live in non Schengen countries?
The wording is very confusing! -
Hi,
If you take the MSC trip to Petra the Jordanian Visa is included.

Thanks for all the information about Daikoku pier. Really appreciate your help.

Thanks for the information about the excursions. However their Larrival time at Narita is late afternoon and after the departure time of the flight to the UK which is at 1.pm.
Any information about taxi or shuttle bus services from Daikoku to Narita Airport would be greatly appreciated.
-
I booked directly with MSC. I will contact them again to see if they have decided to provide transfers however on the three occasions to date that I have contacted customer services they have said they do not have transfers available.
Hence my desire to find out about alternative arrangements and cover all bases.
-
Hi,
I contacted MSC direct to enquire about transfers to the airport and they confirmed that the ship was docking at Daikoku pier.
-
Emmas Gran,
I have taken your advice and posted on the Asia Board.
Thanks

MSC have advised that the Bellissima shall be berthed at Daikoku pier, rather than at Osanbashi, Yokohama. They have also stated that they do not provide any transfers to Narita Airport on the date of disembarkation on the 19th April 2020. Does anyone have experience of the facilities at Daikoku pier and particularly the availability of Taxi/transport from the terminal ?
Thanks in anticipation.

in MSC Cruises

thepla,
many thanks for the update on PCR tests for embarkation.I have been trying to get clarification from MSC as to the requirements for boarding and got conflicting information from the contact centre as opposed to the information on the website. You have reassured me as to what is needed to board the ship.
Have a great trip.
Thanks again.
