  1. Hi Dan,

Are the rumours true of a loyalty scheme?

Are regular Thomson cruisers rewarded for loyalty with the odd "surprise" on their cruises? (eg a free trip or lunch at the Captains Table?)

This summer me and the family are going on 2 cruises which will be our 8th and 9th with Thomson in 5 years.

    Look forward to your reply

    :)

    Hi Pedro,

I'm aware that Fraser answered this question in his last Q&A, which you can view through the link at the top of the forum.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  2. :eek::eek:

hi dan......long time no see..hope all's well in thoms towers

any news on the bonded baggage situation for montego bay/dream itineraries this winter? or will we have to do the airport carousel/immigration thing?

    also

visa situation for cuba.....ie will we be charged at the last minute again (as happened in 2011)

    thanks

    Hi Geo,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone. You'll be pleased to hear that we'll offer bonded baggage for both Thomson Dream in Jamaica and Thomson Celebration in Barbados itineraries in the Caribbean this Winter coming, so there's no waiting around to collect your cases.

With regards to Cuban visas, these are included in your holiday for British and Irish passport holders.

    Thanks,

    Dan.

  3. Hi Everyone,

Just to clarify regarding visas for Turkey, previously we’ve had an arrangement with the local authorities in Marmaris and Dalaman that meant fly-cruise customers were exempt from needing entry visas – as fly-cruise customers are classed as ‘in-transit’.

Unfortunately the new regulations don’t currently have the option to implement a visa waiver scheme. The local authorities are still working with the Turkish government to resolve this but have advised us, in the meantime, to let you know that you will now need a visa to enter Turkey.

All Cruise & Stay or Stay & Cruise customers already need to buy the visa, as well as anyone on a beach holiday.

You can buy your visa for $20 online before you travel by visiting http://www.evisa.gov.tr

Or, you can purchase it on arrival at Dalaman Airport for £20 UK Sterling cash.

We're also in the process of contacting all customers affected by this so that they're aware ready for their arrival into Turkey.

    Kind Regards,

    Dan.

  4. I'm hearing reports of a small fire yesterday on board Celebration whilst in dry dock, caused by some welding. Can anyone confirm this and any news on any damage?

    Hi Grez,

We’re aware that a very small fire broke out onboard Thomson Celebration on the 7th December whilst the ship was in dry dock in Hamburg.

The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries to any of the crew. Following checks of the ship, the crew returned to their duties on board. Please be assured, there has been no damage or any impact to planned sailing dates.

    Thanks,

    Sammi

  5. well have been trying all day to get access to the seat booking as my Thomson is saying 76 days till departure add on the 14 days makes 90 days and still it says sorry seat allocation isnt available yet, now I know I am not stupid I spend my working life preparing company accounts and doing vat returns so will it be available tomorrow or will I end up having to ring an expensive phone number and be left on hold for 20 minutes being told how important I am to them. Thomson stop making things so hard.

    Hi infoqueen,

If you'd like me to take a look into this please email your reference number to thomsoncares@thomson.co.uk.

    Kind regards,

    Lisa-Marie.

  6. Hi all,

We can see there’s been a lot of conversation around our seating system and the majority of them about our 90 day rule for selecting seats. A few of you have mentioned the reasons we have this in place such as potential aircraft changes, different durations etc. And you are correct, but there are other reasons as well and currently there are no plans to change our Airlines seating reservation system. Some of you have also suggested moving it to 83 days from the flying date, but you will still have the same issue for a customer on a 7 night duration travelling the week after a 14 night duration customer. The reason we advise it has to be from the return date is so we have both flights available to book on our system. I hope this helps clarify a few points and as always we appreciate your feedback. If anybody ever needs help with their seating you can contact us via thomsoncares@thomson.co.uk.

    Thanks,

    Lisa-Marie.

  7. thanks thoms for this answer

ok so we are 6 pax

is this why on a 2 3 2 (long haul) config we cant book a single row of 6 seats? as there will be either a window seat left empty or one seat in the middle of the middle left empty?

usually we try to book either: 3 rows of 2 (windows) or 2 rows of 3 (in the middle)......is this where we are going wrong??

are you saying that we could actually book 2 rows of 2 (window seats) plus 2 across the isle??

    Hi Geomagot,

On a 2 3 2 configuration aircraft you’d be able to book 2 window and aisle seats and then 2 in the middle e.g. 37AB CD FG. However you’re right, you could get creative and look at other set-ups like 37AB C then 38AB C or even 37AB CD and 38AB. As long as there isn’t a single window seat left, we can generally book any other seat configuration.

    Regards

    Lisa-Marie

  8. Hi All, Thanks for your questions regarding our Select Your Seat policy. You’re correct in saying that our current policy is that seats can’t be selected until you’re within 90 days of your return date. This is because there are system restrictions on the Flight Extras website, which mean that customers have to book both sets of flight seats at the same time. As some holidays do have different durations, flight plans will therefore open a little earlier for some on the passengers on shorter holidays – but as we’re now unable to reserve seats manually and for separate legs, you still wouldn’t be able to book your seats before 90 days of your return date.

However, if you book this facility and forget to select your seats prior to departure, you will still be guaranteed seats together for your party – and if we’re unable to honour this for any reason, you will be entitled to a refund of the cost for the affected leg(s).

Furthermore, I’ve noted that one or two have you have reported that seats across the aisle aren’t classed as seats together – but this isn’t the case. If you’ve booked the Select Your Seat service you will be able to choose seats across the aisle, as these are classed as seats together. The only restrictions that apply to pre-booked seating (other than welfare/infant bookings) is that a single seat can’t be left by the window. This is why some of you may’ve been unable to select this configuration of seating for your party. I hope the above’s helped clarify any questions you’ve had around the Select Your Seat service.

    Thanks,

    Christina

  9. It's a web site error. When you go into the site using the ship, Majesty, it is just showing 4 cruise itineraries, mainly Italian, but when you make a block booking on (I think it was 27th June) it comes up Adriatic itinerary.

Sorry folks, in too much of a hurry to give you Breaking News, should have double checked before posting.

    Thanks for flagging this Jakanne.

I'll pass this over to our Web team to look into so hopefully it'll be back up to speed soon.

    Kind regards,

    Lisa-Marie.

  10. Hi Lauren

Thank you so much for the reply, You have restored my faith that an important question properly asked will receive a definitive reply.

Could I ask if any discussion took place as regards a two minute talk at the lifeboat drill emphasising the need for scrupulous hand washing as well as the use of sanitizer, when you have a captive audience, was considered.

    Many Thanks

    Clive

    Hi Clive,

It's not something we currently have set in place but we'll pass your feedback on.

    Thanks,

    Dan.

  11. I started this thread in order to try and get the view of Thomson medical people. Questions such as does anti bacterial work or if it is only anti viral that works what is the rationale behind still using anti - bacterial. If hand washing is top of the list (and I agree it is) why don't they extend the lifeboat drill a couple of minutes to include anti noro virus measures.

Sadly, even though I wrote in a non combative manner The Thomson team haven't yet got round to answering it.

I will however keep reminding them that this is so important to Thomson cruisers that we really need their experts opinion.

    Hi Clive and Anne,

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. We've been looking into this with the relevant team.

They've come back today and advised that the hand sanitizer we use claim a broad spectrum of effectiveness against both viral and bacterial pathogens. The guidance from HPA (or PHE as it now is) is that proper hand washing with soap and water is the best method of hand hygiene. We should always consider the hand sanitizer as an addition to hand washing and not a replacement.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Lauren

  12. Help anyone.

Just returned from the dream and they take your bottles away and give them back on last night.

They run out of Pinot Wine on our 3rd day of our 14 day cruise, so I got 3 bottles in the port and took them to my cabin, I went up to deck 10 smoking deck and asked for a bucket of ice and 2 glasses, the waitress said that I should pay corkage of £8 but as they didn't have any bottles of Pinot she allowed us to drink them.

All of a sudden 2 glasses of Pinot was ordered by friends we met on board so they did have bottles but only sold it by the glass!

I said to the waitress how do you get the glasses if you got no bottles, as bottles are on the drinks menu, She replied I am sorry sir but she has been told to only sell glasses of wine not bottles.

The 2nd week I got 3 bottles at the port agin and they were taken off me and put in storage until last night to pack in my case, who wants to take Pinot home when we can buy it cheaper in sain....s 3 for £12.

I had 1 on Sunday morning and gave the other 2 to the bar staff who really appreciated it.

A man called Creig who was suppose to be a top man from thomson management spoke to me and he said what's on the menu they should sell it to you, and was going to look into why are they selling glasses and not bottles.

If anybody on this forum knows this man Creig I would like his Surname.

    Hi Grab,
