Checking to see if anyone has used the day pass at Melia Vacation Club. Seems like they have a lot of activities included in the price. Also drinks and food are unlimited. Will be in Cozumel in March of 2017 and looking for a less crowded beach option. Thanks in advance.

This is Presidents Week Vacation for a lot of schools so I would imagine that there will be quite a few families with children on board.

Will be in Cozumel in April of 2016 with 20000 "close friends". Any suggestions on a beach excursion that won't be to crowded. There will be 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 teenagers, 13,15 and 17. I imagine Mr. Sanchos and Playa Mia will be wall to wall. Kids are pretty active so just sitting on a beach might be a stetch for them. Will be doing snorkeling trips in Cayman, so just looking for some R&R in Cozumel. Thanks for any suggestions.

@jkswonder, we have a 5 passenger room booked for this week, after reading this thread i found out it was Spring Break for NY schools, which my kids attend, but we wanted a quieter week without 1500 kids, so we may be giving up our room. I will know by tonight if we change weeks.

For what it's worth, did anyone notice that Breakaway and Getaway were NOT included when they were talking about taking the charge away for the Asian restaurants/noodle bars. They said they were taking the charge away on 11 ships. I believe there are 13 ships total. So I would not get your hopes up that there is no charge on Getaway and Breakaway.

If your read the post it states that the fee is not waived on the Sun and Skye. So that should make them free on the Breakaway and Getaway.

Probably set different prices to gauge the results. See how the number of $7.95 orders compare to the $4.95. If there isn't a significant difference set the price at $7.95, if there is set it at $4.95. This will be implemented on all ships, just at which price? The Yankees doubled ticket prices when they built the new stadium, $100 for a bleacher seat, evryone was in an uproar. They still sell out every game. Go Bosox!!

Like most of the posters I feel the charge is ridiculous, but for my family of 5 that have always cruised on RCCL our first NCL trip is still a deal with the added charge. In 2012 on RCCL we had an inside cabin for a 9 day cruise out of Baltimore, one of my children stayed in a friends cabin so we only needed one. That cruise fare alone was over $3000, plus tips for dining and room attendants, add in our bar bill, it was well over $1000, plus the soda package for the kids. In 2013 we purchased adjoining inside cabins for the same cruise so the cruise fare was over $4000, plus tips. Purchased the UBP for around $1000 and the soda package for the kids for around $40 each, so the cruise was well over $5000, before any additional spending on the ship. I came across the NCL deal they are offering and booked a 7 day Western for April 2016 we chose a family ocean view and selected the UBP. Total with taxes, port charges and insurance of $2700. I guess if we order room service for breakfast at $4.95, we are on the Getaway, each day it only adds $35 to the bill. I imagine if that charge is made permanent and all the other freebies aren't offered it adds some to the budget. But with kids sail free and free UBP or UDP, it is still a deal.

@Riley's Mom, all three of those spots you mentioned are on the same beach. Taxi is probably the same to each resort. Bananarama has cruise package that includes transportation for $30 per person. Here is the link.

The bartenders will let you take the cap with you on beers if you've gotten to know them. Generally I think they aren't supposed to do it.

 

The mixed frozen drinks are ice and premix as everyone else says. They're still pretty good.

 

It does include drinks at Labadee and the other destination they own.

 

It does not include the cups. You will have a hard time getting them to sell you the cups on a place like Labadee if you have the package for the difference.

 

You cannot tip extra with the package which I think is a negative.

They will let you use your SOs card or friends card to get a drink per card.

 

based on all the comments about wines being out across the various ships and our experience with higher end drinks being unavailable on the Indy I probably would not buy the package next time and would instead bring two very good bottles of wine on the ship and buy drinks day to day.

 

Assuming a wife and husband in a room for 7 days, $700 buys an awful lot of drinks. Probably more than most can drink I think.

It is true that you do not get a receipt to add a tip but what stops you from giving the bartender a cash tip? I purchased the package for a 9 day on the Enchantment and got way more than my monies worth and also took very good care of the bartenders at the R Bar where we spent most of our time.

Do you know if Lightning Wave is still performing on EOS. We sail again 2/16 and had a blast with those guys last year.
