  1. Cloudyrain - I am a fellow 30 something and have been on a few cruises now. My husband and I had our honeymoon on a cruise and he says he will never do another land holiday ever again. On our recent cruise we seen a lot more younger people than on our previous cruises so I think it is becoming more of a thing for the younger generation like ourselves. We certainly enjoy it and it is good to wake up in a different port every day and see a bit more of the world as opposed to going to the same place for a week! Happy cruising x

  2. We are just off the Discovery and stayed for a week in room 8527. We booked a late check out cabin through the week and although we could not keep the same room we got the one next door (8525) which we much preferred space wise. 8527 is an inside cabin and 8525 is an inside plus cabin. There was slight noises in both cabins but didn't overly bother us. 8525 has an interconnecting door I think as there was somebody in 8523 trying the handle at one point.

  3. Tips are all included on Thomson ships however we tipped those staff that we thought worked hard (cabin steward, waiter and particular bar staff). No fixed dining times in Gallery 47 although it gets busiest around 8pm. We went early and got a table for 2 no problem. They do a Dress to Impress night which we did not attend but did see people dressed up for it. All dining rooms accept dress jeans and shirts for men. The Surf and Turf Restaurant and Kora La Restaurant you pay extra for which you need to book (can be booked once boarding ship as they get busy). There are self service machines near reception where you can make dinner reservations and also check balances etc. Hope this helps. If you need any more info just reply. We are just back off the Discovery and had a great time. x

  4. Cruise in May to Majesty we picked up luggage tags at arrival airport and our recent cruise from Aberdeen we were asked if we were going on a cruise and our cabin numbers were put on a sticker and on to our cases at the check in desk (on the TUI Discovery). I wonder what the procedure will be on our next one!

  5. Thanks all. This will be our first time doing cruise only as it worked out cheaper to book everything individually. 3rd time on Majesty and it is great that everything is included until leaving the ship. Being up north can only get flights included in the cruise between May and October. Hence we have to go from either Glasgow or Edinburgh and that's why we have booked everything individually as given the itinerary we can fly back to Aberdeen with Thomsons on the 3rd May.

  6. good morning all fellow cruisers. My hubby and I are off on the Majesty at the end of April but I booked everything separate so I was just looking for clarification as to what happens for check in to ship on a cruise only. I am guessing that since we won't have luggage tags (not flying with Thomson) that we just turn up at the port and then proceed as normal but get issued with our boarding passes there??? Any thoughts/help gratefully received. Thanks.

  7. We also went to Paleokastritsa and would recommend it. We hopped on the bus and it was only a few euros each way but this was when we were staying at a hotel in Gouvia which is about 10 mins outside Corfu town itself (hotel stay after the cruise). I guess it might take about an hour or so to get there from the town centre but the bus would definitely take you there. Here's a useful link for bus times:

  8. I am with you on this Nancyneptune. Hubby and I are in Aberdeen and would love to do a transatlantic and wouldn't even mind having to go from Edinburgh or Glasgow but there are no Scotland flights and we would have to go to either Birmingham or Manchester to try and fit in around other flight times and then maybe have to book a hotel as well!
