We are now back and had an amazing trip. We were a three generation family. Traveled with two 10 year olds amy my parents in their 7Os. You all were so kind with all my questions. If anyone has any I can try and answer. But overall the trip was top notch.

Thanks all this is very helpful. Once more question if we run out of punches mid week can we buy another one?

I have two questions. Can anyone use the punches on the coffee card for the drinks (can my husband and I share)? For the bottled water delivered to my room i can't seem to pay with OBC. Why not? thanks!

We were just offered upgrade in star princess Alaska June 9 for 7 days. 169/pp to upgrade from balcony to mini suite. Is it worth it? We are new to cruising. We will be traveling as a family of 4. Two ten year olds and two adults. Thanks!!!!

How do you know if the price went down on a cruise?

Hi there,
We are scheduled for Adventure Bound trip of Tracy Arm. Our cruise also cruises Glacier Bay. Are these two things similiar? Will we be sorry that we did Tracy Arm only to see the same looking things a few days later?
-
Thanks, everyone for the great advice so far. I am starting to narrow things down and now have more questions.
We will be on the Princess Star in June going from Vancuver to Whittier with stops in Ketchikan, Skagway, and Juneau. We will have three generations (grandparents in 70s, parents in 40s and two ten year olds).
In Juneau we have decided to do Adventure Bound to Tracey Arm (YES! one decision made!)
In Ketchikan my 10 year old daughter is DYING to fish for salmon but since we will be on a long boat ride to Tracey Arm I am hesitant to schedule another long fishing trip out on the water. Is there a way to do a short one or to fish from shore?
In Skagway my kids want to see the sled dogs but we won't do helicopter ride. Is there a tour we could book that would allow us to see the white pass and do the dogs?
We would prefer a tour that we can book outside of Princess.
Lastly, in Whittier....we are scheduled for a late night flight out of Anchorage so I was hoping to have an excursion that would take us somewhere intresting and then to the airport. But when I look on the Princess website nothing is listed. Is that odd?
thanks again!

I am thinking about taking the Adventure Bound boat to Tracy Arm. I have two 10 year olds that will be with me. Has anyone done this with children? They are good kids and like adventures and scenary but a 10 hour trip seems like perhaps a bit much. Thoughts?

We are all signed up for the princesss star northbound on June 9. I had a question though about the two days on glaicier day and college fjord. Are these at sea days? Or does the boat port so you can get off? Thanks!

hi all
We are looking at a June sailing on the princess star. Goes Vancouver to anchorage. We based this mostly on the recommendations here. We will have two 10 year olds with us. Two parents in their 40s and grandparents in their 70s (active).
The reviews on the star are mixed. Is the ship really in that bad of shape? I know aLascaux is not about the ship but the itenerary but we want to have a nice ship as well. Thanks!

Never cruised before. We are in 1690. Two adults two 5 year olds. Is this a good cabin?

Hi all,
I will answer the questions I can:
I had never been on a princes cruise so I did not know what to expect. That said I though the condition of the ship was outstanding. Everything looked in order. The food was good. Not great, but good. It was what I expected cruise ship food to be. I found the Crown Grill just fine but the pay up Italian to be better. We ate most nights in the MDR. The service there from head waiter Paul was outstanding. We had two with dietary issues and he really went above and beyond.
As for Vancouver Place....we got there around 1:30 or 2. We were on the ship within 30 minutes. No waiting at all. It was like we were they only ones there. So I think we missed the main rush. Which was just fine for us.
We didn't see the puppies in the plaza but in our excursion in Skagaway we went to a mushing summer camp so we cuddled them there.
I agree with the poster about the staff. In 7 days we did not have one bad experience with anyone on the ship. What a great group. Also the beds were amazing. We had bunk beds. We all slept like babies.
