  1. We did the Chilkoot Tour August 2015 and took the train up and then got on the bus. The clouds were a little settled in still when we took the train up but it was still beautiful so I'm not sure it matters which you do first. I am on the Crown tomorrow and plan on doing this same excursion through Chilkoot but this time taking the bus up and train down. I don't know if it really matters and I don't think you can go wrong going with Chilkoot.

This was our favorite excursion and it was great to have a smaller group, our own car on the train, a smaller 12 person charter bus and an awesome guide that would stop whenever we wanted to stop. Her name was "Stanley" and I hope that she might be up there again this year.

  2. I booked a GTY balcony cabin for our upcoming Alaska cruise on the Ruby. I chose a BB category after looking at the deck plans. I figured that if we didn't get some type of upgrade offer the BB category balconies would be between state room only decks, mid-aft or mid-forward, and I would be happy with that. I also realized that if upgraded it could be any location on the ship that was considered an upgrade which could possibly be extremely aft or forward. The most important thing on this cruise for us was that we got at least a balcony because of the Alaska destination.

Today we got notice of a complimentary upgrade to BA category on the Aloha deck, which, although only one category up, is exactly mid-ship, and I'm very happy with it. Also, we are a little under three weeks from sailing and I was trying very hard to be patient and hope I wouldn't have to be checking a couple days before.

Good luck to you and hopefully you will get your cabin assignment soon.

  3. Can't speak to NCL as we have never sailed with them. We have liked going on Carnival but is a bit younger and rowdier crowd. Just got off the Royal earlier this month and really only had two not happy with things which really don't apply to the ship itself. The first thing was the embarking process because they weren't prepared for all the people. They stopped all lines including priority boarding where we were and when they started the lines again they had already let all the general boarding people that were already inside the terminal waiting area board instead of finishing with priority first. The second thing we were unhappy with was our room steward who was just average. For our room location I would have expected a top notch steward. All in all we loved the Royal, beautiful ship, dining experiences great, entertainment very good, and lots to do on board.

  4. Hi guys- I am looking at a Spring Break cruise in Mid March. We would leave from Baltimore, MD.

I am wondering if it will be cold for the 1st 2 days of the cruise until we get closer to FL. I am worried that if we do a 7 day cruise we will have a lot of cold weather until we reach warm waters. Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance!:)

I'm also wondering that too as we are leaving from Baltimore in January. Should be an interesting trip to pack for coming from California to cold weather than to Bahamas weather.
