  1. Thank you all for your replies to my question! The majority opinion seems to be to book, request the price match, and then cancel if denied. And, I'm encouraged that several of you have successfully claimed the price match. So, we just booked the excursion and applied for the price match. I'll post an update once we hear back from Carnival on the claim.

  2. How easy is it to claim a discount through the Carnival Shore Excursion Best Price Guarantee?

We will be in Grand Cayman next month and are looking at the Crystal Cave tours through Carnival which has a very high price of $114.99 per person. On the cave website there are links to 2 tour operators that have tours for $89 and $65. These are both publicly available tours and advertise their prices, so I believe they would qualify for the discount. However, I don't want to book the Carnival tour and then be denied the claim due to 'fine print". :)

If you have successfully claimed the lower price guarantee, I would appreciate your advice!

  3. Hi, I'm on your cruise! So looking forward to the Vista for Christmas.

It is my understanding the first formal night will be on Christmas. As other posters have mentioned, how dressy you want to be on elegant night is up to you.

There are self serve laundry machines on the Vista so your plan to just carry on and do laundry is totally doable. We always carry on about 4 days worth of clothes and then take some downtime to do laundry half way through the cruise.

  4. We just got off the Splendor yesterday. If you click through on the option to pre-purchase the internet plans, I think you will get an error message and can't pre-purchase. Splendor is not one of the ships that is offering pre-purchase on the internet plans.

We paid $35 for the social plan and $136 for the premium internet plan for our 8 day cruise.

The internet service on Splendor is a joke, think 90s dial up service, and prepare to be frustrated if you need to depend on it for work.

Husband had the premium service since he was on call. There was some work he could not do because of the slow internet. He was able to answer his emails, but it was frustratingly slow. Not sure how the value plan will handle emails. No email with the social plan. We texted using facebook messenger with the social plan, but were never able to post pictures to facebook. (kinda defeats the idea of social media, right?) Had to 'borrow' husband's plan to do so. (You can log out of one device and into another with any of the plans.)

Other than the internet service, we really enjoyed the Splendor and had a fabulous cruise. Enjoy your cruise!

  5. Actually, I don't think you can pre-purchase the internet packages for the Splendor yet. Try to go through with the order and you will run into an error message.

Only available on 2 ships at the moment.

Thanks, you are correct! I clicked through and got the message that the plan is not available for pre-purchase for this cruise.

  6. I just noticed we can pre-purchase the internet plan through the Fun Shops for our Splendor cruise next week. The prices they have are $4.29 / 10.25 / 17 per day for the social / value / premium plans. Are these the same prices they will charge if we purchase on board the ship? Is it cheaper to purchase now? Debating whether to purchase now or wait.

  7. Thanks for all your helpful replies! From your responses we are gathering that it is unlikely we'll be able to connect the Dot to the ship's wifi. And even if we can connect we'll need to purchase the premium internet service ($25/day) to stream our music. We'll go with our Ipod and bluetooth speaker instead.

    Happy Cruising!

  8. Has anyone taken an Amazon Echo Dot on a Carnival cruise? We're sailing on the Splendor in less than 2 weeks. We always take an Ipod and blue tooth speakers with us to play music in the cabin and are wondering about taking Alexa instead. Is it possible to connect the Dot to the ship's wifi, particularly to stream music? We're assuming we would be able to log the Dot in to the wifi using the Alexa app on our phone. Would we have to pay for the Dot as a separate device on the internet plan? Would the ship's wifi be fast enough to stream our music? would love to hear from anyone who has actually tried this.
