  1. 2022 on the Enchanted for Christmas there were 500 children celebrating often in multi generational family groups. Santa had a gift for every child and holiday activities were numerous. The children loved the pools and the ice cream!  As active adults without kids we enjoyed the seasonal celebrations, festive meals and activities offered around the ship.  Each day we discovered another Christmas tree made by various crew departments.

  2. We were on the Enchanted Princess over Christmas 2022 in an inside cabin. As childless retirees we did not mind the 500 children on board.  We try to select a cabin far forward thus making it dead end and limited traffic and noise outside our door. Noise was not an issue nor was finding a seat for activities or a quiet deck chair for reading.

The children enjoyed the pools and so they should but seeing large groups running around or screaming was not the case.  Santa arrived and activities were enjoyed by many generations. The kids seemed to always have an ice cream.

We would not hesitate to cruise over the holidays again and found it quieter than a spring break cruise.

  3. I also have only the Plus package showing up rather than Premier on the medallion app.  I have had numerous calls and online chat to resolve the issue but I still wait although they all acknowledge I have it confirmed.  I would like to be able to book my included speciality dining by using the credit vs. my credit card.  I can only wait and call again next week.

  4. I used my Libby library app recently on the Enchanted. I downloaded books prior to cruise but also “borrowed” a couple more mid cruise. Downloaded them in cabin to my iPad and my husband’s tablet.
it’s a great app and I had no problem on the cruise. My husband and I now use Libby regularly for free library books.

  5. On our last visit there we swam from shore on Water Island and easily reached the turtles. We are confident swimmers/ snorkelers and enjoyed this beach and day trip. I don’t remember the water depth as very deep or the distance too far. This photo was taken that day.645F3306-F3E2-438D-AFC8-8C4A588BF1DA.thumb.jpeg.11cbe5a593a90cacfe826d3ee5ba65c7.jpeg

  6. Ashburn Golf Club in Halifax is members only.  Brightwood Golf Club across Halifax Harbour on some dates allows visitors.  Brightwood is a very short taxi from the cruise port but is in Dartmouth.

Other Halifax area courses are quite a long taxi ride from the port.

  7. We did the entire open section of the Cliff Walk in May. Took the trolley to the start and picked it up again at the end.  Parts of the walk were easy but the more challenging sections required good balance and proper footwear. Our group of 4 active seniors had no difficulty but walking and hiking regularly are part of our routine. It was a breathtaking hike that still allowed for time exploring  Newport.BA1B7E87-D1B2-4093-AFF7-376F6BFAA603.thumb.jpeg.0dfb578361d7e8aec24983b8ec7988a1.jpeg

  8. We were off the Summit the end of May.  Bar staff also disliked the hard to open caps and mentioned they were often cutting their hands.  They mentioned that plastic was coming back and on our last day we were able to get water in plastic.

  9. Just back on the 23rd from the Summit.

Public busses were very insistent that we wear our masks before stepping on bus and sanitize hands before presenting cash ($4.00) or token ($3.75). Busses only allow seated passengers so if the bus has no seats you can’t enter.

private shuttles were not as strict with masking.

We are still wearing masks by choice at home when in public indoor areas and appreciated the mask protocols.

  10. I have seen both the original Anne, the musical and Anne and Gilbert. The original (book 1) is in a much larger theatre with live pit orchestra as well as a much larger stage. It has been on the same stage for over 50 summers with new sets and some of the earlier casts now playing roles of the older Island women.

My choice is the original. I've been to see it at least ten times in Charlottetown. CAA/AAA get a discount ticket. Avoid first row of balcony as the rail may be at eye level if you are of shorter height. Both theatres are a close walk under ten minutes to the port if you are docked, not tendered. I believe matinees are only Wednesday and Saturday.

  11. We did a similar cruise out of Shanghai in October on the Millie. About 50% were probably English speaking as first language from many countries. Many others had English as a second or even third language. Food had the traditional things one finds cruising with perhaps more International flavours in the buffet. We did not do speciality dining. Only local entertainment was available one night with a variety of guest entertainers along with the house bands. Biggest difference was the number of empty deck chairs as many guests preferred to be out of the sun and enjoying table games. Very few children were on board probably due to time of year. During our Manilla overnight in port many of the crew had a chance to visit with their families or even bring them on board. This to us was a highlight as we could see their pride in the ship as well as the excitement of visiting loved ones after so many days away.

We would do a similar trip again if the flight was not 19 hours!

  12. We took private shuttle from LAX directly to Anaheim pre cruise. We had a full day at Disney stayed at the same Anaheim hotel second night and Saturday morning the same shuttle driver picked us up and took us direct to the San Pedro port for our Saturday embark. No worries with our luggage.

At end of cruise we found a LA small tour company that met us at ship, gave us a full day tour and then dropped us back at LAX while our luggage remained safely stored in tour van.

This arrangement worked great for us, two east coast Canadians.
