  1. If you 'google' the ingredients of Dramamine, I think it is likely a similar product will be available in Australia.

On the other hand, most cruisers recommend 25mg Avomine. I buy mine at Chemist Warehouse - $9.60 for 30 tablets. Apparently it has the same ingredients as phenergan. This is what is recommended currently on cruise ships. It is an anti-histimine so can make a person a bit sleepy if they sit in a show or a movie, but not while you are walking around. I have just returned from a cruise to Antarctica. Travelling in a small ship, we were conscious of the movement. The tour company recommend the 25mg phenergan. One of the doctors was getting around the ship with a bumbag of tablets and was handing it out to anyone who asked.

By the way, I have been recommending Avomine for a few years. On a recent cruise, a woman who I didn't remember stopped me in a corridor to thank me very much for recommending it on a cruise sometime in the past.

Hi, thanks the quick response, my partner has tried Avomine, and it is our back up but it does knock her around a bit, but found Dramamine did not cause any side effects for her and felt 100% even in some very rough seas. We have also looked at some local "similar" ingredient products but found they did not work as well.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  2. They discontinued the egg shell foam toppers, regular toppers are still available.

What is a "regular topper" ? do these make the firm mattress, that I hear RCI use, any softer? DH has arthritis and has a memory foam topper at home, has lots of issues on firm mattresses.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  3. Hi

On a cruise that stops at Mystery Island, this will be our 3rd attempt to stop here on cruises over the years, last 2 times we have missed it due to weather.

A quick question, can you just get the tender to shore and snorkel nearby or need to do a "tour" ?

    Cheers

  4. Hi

On Explorer of the Seas, in Feb with stops in Suva and Lautoka, We usually do our own thing rather than pay the huge onboard mark ups.

As we have never stopped at these ports, anyone have any suggested tours?

I have had contact with this operator, so looking for recommendations or feedback on Moana tours.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  5.

I hope you were joking about shore excursions not being available to book until you board !

    Hey

Cruising in a few weeks with Carnival, found that all shore tours are booked onboard via the stateroom TV or the shore tours desk. Found that odd as I was sure we had booked shore tours on other lines before boarding.

I did wonder if the popular ones get booked out by those boarding first. Glad we have a 12pm boarding time...

  6. When we cruised on P & O pac dawn twice over the last few years, they had staff at all food locations at meal times offering hand sanitiser to all that entered.

It seemed a way to positively reinforce what people should do. I wonder if this should be the norm on all cruise ships as you will also get some grubs that won't do the right thing.

Before our first cruise we read about a hand sanitiser that stayed on for some time after applying, we have used that for all our cruises and will use it on our next cruise in Feb on Carnival Legend. So far we have not had a bug at sea.. so fingers crossed that continues.

  7. Hey

My wife and I will be cruising in early feb ( yay) on Carnival Legend.

At home we have a memory foam mattress topper on my wife's side of the bed as she has Rheumatoid Arthritis. She often has troubles sleeping on some hotel beds, but ok on soft beds.

Any advice what the beds are like on Carnival Legend? also can you arrange a mattress topper with Carnival Legend over the phone pre sail or should be buy a foam one and take with us?

    Cheers

  8. There is no need to line up in long lines on Carnival. They have 2 machines on board where you can add cash to your Sail & Sign account. One is next to guest services and the other near the Casino. It takes only a couple of minutes. You can also print out an account statement.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

    Hi

Do these machines take cash or you transfer funds from your Credit or debit card to your cruise account to save taking cash onboard?

    Cheers

  9. Hi

We are cruising on the 4th Feb, I fly domestically a lot for work and often get delays as well as seeing my peers get delays, its just not worth the stress. so we land in Syd around 1.30pm on the 3rd then a nice night at a hotel then cruise the next day..

To me its worth the extra when you consider what your cruise cost, plus have travel insurance.. for any other "incident".

    Cheers

    Steve
