Can you be more specific about the shopping area? does in have a name/ location??

    thanks!!

She maybe referring to the Lucayan marketplace (the name may not be correct) but it is a large shopping area near the Grand Lucayan resort.  It was not open yet when we were there, but our cab driver said it would be opening later that week.  So if there were no delays, it should be open now.

We are also doing the Dr. Seuss breakfast on the 11/4 Victory sailing.  My research says that it is booked on board and is a $5 per person charge.  There is an 8ish and 10ish seating.  Here is our sea day plan:

    8:00 AM  Dr. Seuss Breakfast

    12:00 PM  Sea Day Brunch

    3:00 PM  Afternoon Tea

    7:00 PM  Anytime Dining

Someone will have to roll us back to the cabin.

The Dr Seuss Breakfast menu is a Dr Seuss version of the Sea Day Brunch, so I doubt you’ll want to do both.  The breakfast is fun, enjoy!

  3. We just got back from the Grand Lucayan, my daughter is 8.  She loved having the pool to play in along with the ocean and sand to dig in.  Kids are $10, adults $20.  They had a dj playing music and running games (water balloon toss for example.) Our taxi driver let the Taino beach crowd off first then took us, they weren’t far away from each other.  I didn’t see much of Taino, but I think the Grand Lucayan seemed nicer from what little I saw.

  4. We just got back from our Bahamas cruise, definitely proceed with your plans.  The water and beaches are gorgeous.  We stopped at Freeport, you could see storm damage, but (at least on our route to the Grand Lucayan) you would have no idea of the severity.  I was shocked how good it looked.

Half Moon Cay was absolutely stunning, prettiest water I’ve ever seen.

Nassau looked as good as always, lots of construction, but the beach was nice & the water was pretty.

here’s what we did in Freeport:

We took a taxi ($5 pp) to the Grand Lucayan resort.  Day passes are $20 pp, $10 for kids.  The taxi was $6 pp back to the ship.  The resort was in good shape, some shingles were missing from some of the roofs.  There wasn’t very many people, but it was a beautiful day.  We enjoyed the beach and pool.

  6. We are back from our cruise on the Freedom.  Crafts were each seaday at 9:00 am in the Atrium lobby.  We had 3 seadays, the first day they made Halloween cards for the cruise director (Hey TJ!) next they made a cute fall banner, lastly they made beaded bracelets.  There were people of all ages and abilities, my daughter really enjoyed it.

  8. The port area was cute, there was several restaurants and a large pool (salt water) with a swim up bar. Lots of the typical cruise ship shops around. None of it is particularly authentic, but you could easily spend the day in that area. I didn't notice anywhere for massages, but I may have missed it.

  9. The other choice was big French Key. We had 4 adults at $35 each, and a just barely 6 year old that he didn't charge for. It was just our group, but we were paired with a larger group at Daniel Johnson's, after that it was just our group again.

  10. The last time we were in Roatan it was with Carnival and we docked at Mahogany Bay. We booked the fun & sun tour with Victor Borden that included a city tour, the monkeys & west bay beach.

We docked at Coxen Hole. This time we checked out Daniel Johnson's monkey & sloth place, but didn't want to do a tour that also included a tour around the city. So I looked for a tour that had a stop at Daniel's place & the beach.

The owner of Roatan Ocean Adventures took care of the negotiating in advance, he told us we'd need to pay x amount extra to stop at little French Key. We were there from 11:30ish to 3:15ish, we weren't told there was a time limit. Food was not included, we did use the kayaks and paddle boards.

  11. We were in Roatan on October 18, we scheduled the tour below with Roatan Ocean Adventure. Herbert Woods is the owner, he was responsive to my emails. I liked that his tour didn't include a city tour since we'd already done that on our last visit.

    Monkey Fun And Beach Break

    (Cruisers)

If you are looking for a relaxing and fun-filled day on Roatan, we have the perfect excursion for you! This adventure takes you to see the fascinating jump on your shoulder monkey’s, interact with a sloth and hang with the exotic birds. This tour gives you the opportunity to bring out your inner kid again. After a great time at the park, we will take you to soak up some sun on one of the most popular beach spots on the island, where you will have access to all of the facilities such as beach chairs, showers, restrooms, a bar and a restaurant.

    $35 per person

The day we arrived was a bit rainy. When we got off the ship we made our way out of the port complex and the other operators were helpful in pointing us towards Herbert. As we met him it began pouring rain, he pointed us to a shelter and met us a few minutes later. We gave him full payment up front which made me a little nervous, but I reminded myself of all the positive Trip Advisor reviews. He found us in the crowd and pointed us towards a nice green minivan and introduced us to our driver/guide for the day. He was great, very friendly and most importantly a safe driver!

We had discussed possibly visiting Little French Key, as opposed to the two included beach options for an extra pp fee. Due to the weather I wanted to wait to decide. Our guide took us to Daniel Johnson's to see the monkeys & sloths. There was quite the wait, but we were happy with our visit. I'd say I left with a slight preference to Victor Bodden's monkey business, but it was good too. After the monkeys Herbert checked in to see what we decided, we decided to head to Little French Key. Due to my late decision we had a bit of a wait for a boat to take us to the island, but it was a great deal, so worth waiting for. Herbert asked that I not mention the price because he's currently working to offer a set package that includes a visit there. Little French Key was great, we really enjoyed our visit. Due to the rainy day, there wasn't much of a crowd which worked out great for us. We asked that the boat pick us up at a set time, they were there waiting for us and our driver got us back to the ship in a quick safe manner.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

  12. We were there in May, only photos were offered. The prices were ridiculous, very off putting they charge that much. The cheapest we could get was $35 per picture. The CD was outrageously expensive, they came down a tiny bit from the original offer, but hardly any. I believe the price of the CD is based on how many people are in your party.

We enjoyed our experience, but the photo situation did leave us with a bad taste in our mouth.
