  1. Of course it is possible your neighbours may have been sitting on their balcony and needed or wanted their light on.

Although we all like different things, we too must consider what others enjoy on the balcony that they have paid for. As a rule, I don't turn the light on when out on the balcony, but I do like to have the door open to let the fresh air into my room. I use the little table to prop the door open for a while in the evening. This usually doesn't affect the a/c as it's cooled down when I do it and it freshens my room so I sleep better.

Again, we all have likes and dislikes, but there seems to be a lot of 'rules' on what not to do on your balcony so we don't 'ruin' everyone else's cruise. Personally, I do what I want to do and if someone else has a problem, then we can discuss it.

Let me clarify, the light was on all night, every night for the entire 8 night cruise. The steward would turn it off when he cleaned. If they had been sitting out there with the light on that would have been their right, who am I to dictate what they do when they are out there? But they weren't. We knocked on their door with no response so they weren't even in their cabin and their drapes were pulled. Yes, I was that neighbor who peeked around to see if there was someone out on the balcony I could speak to. Door shut, blinds pulled and empty chairs. So there wasn't anyone to discuss it with.

  2. Yes, please be considerate with your balcony light. We had a balcony on our last cruise and the neighbors always and every night had their light on so we couldn't enjoy the moonlight on our balcony. We had to have the drapes pulled every night so we could sleep. It definitely interfered with the night time enjoyment of our balcony. It's very inconsiderate! I'd rather have the door bang.

  3. Addition to my packing list ~ Ziploc baggies. Transfer the cheese to a baggie so it doesn't dry out in the fridge until I'm ready to eat it. Will they give extra toast slices if you ask?

Cheese wouldn't last long enough to need a baggie. [emoji2]

  4. Now I'm thinking about this for DH and I. If it stays under 40 dollars each for a 7 day cruise. So will I be able to use it for frozen drinks at the rum bar and margarita bar? I'm sure it will work for drink of the days. We like the fu fu drinks, we're not huge drinkers but if we had 4 drinks a day it's a deal right? We have a 7 day cruise coming up on The Liberty in Feb. really thinking of doing this.

Definitely get Cheers on Liberty! They have the Alchemy Bar which is totally worth the price of the program. Drinks there run about $8 and 4.5 drinks pays for the program.

  5. Love the 4K (French door) cabin! Light and air on a budget. Although you can't step out like on a balcony, laying in bed listening to the water works great plus you're back far enough the room doesn't heat up with the sun beaming in.

As for interior cabins, I pack a small flashlight for everyone in the room. It's just enough light to move around the cabin without waking anyone up, plus you don't get fully awake with bright flashing lights in the bathroom.

  6. Usually I fill it out after final payment. I save all the documents as a PDF and store to my Dropbox. There always seems one change or another (OBC, upgrade), so I save another PDF. I hate wasting all the paper if I have to reprint. Then I print a week or so out. It also gives me an electronic copy of all my paperwork if there is ever a problem. I can get to the documents where ever I can get in the internet.
  7. I don't feel the need to exchange email addresses with my room steward, I just want to know who to address my questions to. I see a group in the hall, it's awful not knowing which one to ask for extra towels. On our last cruise we never did figure out who was responsible for our room but on our first, we still remember Randy and measure them all by his excellent service.

  8. I think you hit the nail on the head. You can travel the length of the U.S. without needing anything as I.D. (except driver's license in the case you're stopped by the cops). In Europe, you need a passport to travel to each country (many of these countries are as large or smaller than one U.S. state). I didn't have a passport until I was 24 years old. Many of us grew up with parents who wanted to explore the U.S. first (and that can take a lifetime to do!!!).

And don't forget, up until September 11th you could also travel through Canada and Mexico with only your drivers license and birth certificate. I lived near the Canadian boarder, most if the time they didn't even stop you.

  9. Buy Carnival Gift Cards. You can put them on your S & S card when you get on board right at the kiosk, they don't expire and if you have a balance, they're refundable. Cruise cash may get applied to the booking number, are non-refundable and you can't use any leftover money for a future cruise.
