    Using the Ships Doctor

    We found the ships doctor to be very reasonable on HAL. We were on a 41 night cruise (2 days in of course!) and both our kids got ear infections one day after the other. Doctors cost was less than our kids Doc in Seattle. The antibiotics were probably on the higher side as all out of pocket versus adjusted by insurance but with the next kid getting the same ear infection he was able to finish off the remainder of the bottle.

     

     

     

    It was funny being on HAL - The doctor and nurse LOVED seeing our kids come in - They squealed "oh we NEVER get patients this young, its soooo fun!" :)

     

     

    Wait, do you mean one kid finished the other kid's antibiotic prescription?

    So if you have your kids at adventure ocean before five they will be taken to the windjammer for dinner as a group with the AO staff. But they are in a small private section of the windjammer with fewer selections (pizza or chicken tenders). I'm sure the options vary a bit but it wasn't the windjammer my kids wanted to go to.

     

    Dining room pickup was at 6:45 outside of Grand.

     

    If your child has any kind of limitations (even temporary or possible issues), let them know. My son had a cast removed the day before we left and his thumb was still a little bit sore sometimes with activity or if he bumped it. I was surprised when he asked me to tell them it was hurting and the staff member told him to let her know if it hurt and then he wouldn't have to participate in the sports games. So essentially they HAVE to participate in the activities going on.

    The only "interesting" things on the oasis class ships NOT on the freedom class are (unless I am missing something?), in order:

     

    More specialty dining options/1920s party (pay more to pay more)

    The up-and-down-bar

    Central park and the boardwalk

    and the water show.

    freestyle soda is on the freedom but not the other 2 I believe.

     

    imo go with the $499pp before it's gone and spend the extra 200 on something worthwhile.

     

    Don't get me wrong, the Oasis class ships are nice ships... but so are the freedom class ships.

     

     

    And the Oasis class has the zip line.
