We understand what Barbados and Sea Dream wants us to do. Our problem is they  want us to have covid test 24-72 hours before we board the boat.

Problem is we have to leave at least 48 hours before ship time,  so that means we have to get test before we leave our home town and get results which we find takes 1-2 days , so it leaves no time for us to do test , fly to Barbados, , we have to stay over night on Friday in Charlotte , so we can get AM flight to get to, boarding . Flight doesn't arrive until 3 pm on Saturday

Anybody can give us clue on getting test and get to boat and still have test results valid so we can board Sea Dream

    THANK YOU

While you still have a risk if you unexpectedly test positive, results are 24 hour turnaround now in most places, and you get an email link that takes you to the result. Assuming you test negative, you should have your result before or while in Charlotte, can print it out at your hotel in the unlikely event showing it on your mobile phone is not satisfactory, and should be good. Am not sure where you live, but here in Atlanta there are probably a dozen places where you can make an appointment and get a free test.  My advice if practical would be to make an appointment at two different testing locations the day before you leave so that reduces the risk of not getting the results on time. There are no 100% certainties in the current world, but I think we have to take some risks to give us the opportunity for some sanity so kudos to you for doing this.

We too received the last of multiple refunds within recent days.  We are relieved but sad since we had bookings out through 2022 we were looking forward to.  Had SD management bothered to make any constructive outreach at all  these past few months we might have held on for at least some of the planned voyages.  Mind you we have done dozens since 2008.  Despite pleas here and directly to SD management, nothing has improved all these months.  I’m not one to say never in these situations, so I won’t now, but SD has a lot to do to earn back the trust and confidence we & so many others placed in  them all these years.

I agree. What is so sad is if sea dream had just been transparent they would have instilled more loyalty rather than continuing their habit of poor communication when times get tough

  3. Yes I am from Oslo. Yes I have been onboard 13 times and yes I will travel again.

I think it is important to take the credit not refund. We all can help save tourism

My refund request was submitted March 17. I sent SeaDream an email last night requesting a status update. I received a reply within an hour saying that my refund would be forthcoming before the 90 days is up. We shall see.

We are on this sailing as well. Pretty sure if you are flying into Havana and she sails out of Ciunfregos you’ve got a long bus ride. We are flying into Santa Clara (spelling) and spending the night before we board

You are exactly right, our challenge is we live in Atlanta so the delta non stop on the return is strongly preferred which complicates our arrival in Santa Clara. But the bus ride would not be the ideal entry so will need to ponder! I also need to get my head around any issues surrounding us citizens popping into Santa Clara for the day prior to the cruise. I get the sense that Cuba would be just fine with it but technically the US would have a problem but I don’t believe there is much enforcement. Do you have any insight on this?

  5. Hi Guys,

Thanks. Good to be back looking. Like many SeaDreamers, we have been sailing the Caribbean with them since 2004. We have seen just about every island there is so mostly stay on board so my question reflected that we usually just take a special offer as that has been pretty good at no kids and not full. Saving a bit helps too but mainly the first two. Hope to sail with Y'all before too long.

A few special offers have just popped up....

  6. We are feb 4-11, so I think second half of your b2b

Then Trapper & I will look forward to meeting you. We will hopefully be very relaxed at that point, after a week on the ship.

Likewise, we will be flying directly into Havana but the cruise begins elsewhere, Seadream has said they will be offering transport options from Havana so we shall see. You have a simpler entry in San Juan.

  7. Can't imagine what it is like to have to make your own bed every morning. That's why we cruise every chance we get. Wonderful reviews, DPR. So glad you enjoyed your cruise. You have set a high bar for the rest of us who do reviews. Richb21, which Cuba cruise are you on? We are on the first out of SJU and then on to Havana for a b2b.

  8. There are different views on that set of questions, here are my two cents. In most cases, the main advantage to booking well in advance relates to how particular one is about where their room is located. In addition, some (but not many) voyages do sell out a few months in advance during high season, and in most cases selection of rooms is more limited. I have stayed on level 2 and 4, the only difference being a picture window on 3 and 4 vs porthole on 2, I would save money and stay on 2, but my companion insists that he was woken up by water splashing on the porthole so we are on level 3 next February. I heard nothing. On the other extreme, during low season you might find discounts a few months before sailing, I do not know if they will extend these discounts to those who have already booked, my hunch is that they may try to upgrade to a higher level if available rather than reduce the price, others on forum may know more than I do here. On other extreme, due to high demand, they actually raised the prices on some of the Cuba voyages a few days after they went on sale but this is an exception not the rule. On balance, I think booking via travel agent better, most should be able to give you a spa credit. Some on the forum have suggested that seadream may extend upgrade offers to those who book direct in advance if Those who booked via travel agent, but I find this of little value. I think if you liked windstar you will love seadream, browse through this forum and it will give you a good sense of things.

  9. I thought I would let those you of who are expressing interest in the 2019 Cuba sailings know what a disappointing experience we had trying to book these voyages. We have been happily sailing with SeaDream since the days it was Sea Goddess, so we keep close watch on what the yachts are doing. Having received Club Member emails about Cuba, there were 5 of us who had our travel agent contact reservations the morning of 9/5, the first day bookings were available. She learned at that point that two voyages were already sold out to charters. She got pricing and cabin availability information on what remained that we might be interested in. When she called back the NEXT DAY, SD had raised the prices by $800 a person. They would not offer us the price quoted the day before, even though it had been on the website earlier that same day. Their rationale was that there was a lot of interest in Cuba, and that they would sell out the sailings, even at the higher price. My travel agent insisted on being bumped up to the top of the administrative structure, and she says she was treated none too kindly.

Now I have no doubt that the Cuba voyages will sell out. But it seems to me that the company is being greedy here, and doing so at the risk of creating ill-will with its "regulars" who they count on to come back to the Caribbean year after year. After more that 25 years sailing on these ships, it may be time to move on. They say that all good things must come to an end.

I would like to think if your travel agent sends significant business to seadream they would be able to make a difference, that is really bad form on seadream, particularly for a loyal client. We held a Cuba itinerary day one and called seadream directly as our travel agent said they were overwhelmed by day one demand and were slow responding to their inquiries. Good luck.
