  1. They will “contact” you when you board. There will be people all over asking if you need to upgrade. I tried doing it in advance, but the girl on the phone wasn’t able to do it. I didn’t have the patience to call back and wait on hold another 40 minutes to get someone else so just did it onboard.

For those that have to fly to FL for a cruise it is less expensive ( and faster) to go from the airport to Port Everglades than from MCO to Port Canaveral.

The cost to fly into FLL or MIA vs flying into MCO far outweighs the cost of getting to the pier. Our flights to southern FL are much more expensive and limited than to and from MCO. We also prefer to fly to MLB when we can for cruises from a Canaveral.

I realize no one has sailed yet, but maybe someone that sailed on another Edge class has an opinion?

Looking to book a SV on Beyond and right now all that is available is Deck 7 above Eden and Deck 12 below Ocean Cafe.

Wondering if anyone has experienced any issues in an SV cabin on either of these decks due to noise or any other issue?

    Thanks so much!

Well, here goes…we are on the Edge right now. Purposely booked 7315 after researching because the verandah and stateroom are a bit wider. Arrived on Sunday to our balcony door laying on the verandah and maintenance unable to fix it due to no parts. So we were moved to deck 12. The scraping chairs from the OV Cafe at 5:00 am are very loud. I’m assuming they are cleaning and setting up for breakfast. Not entirely thrilled to lose the stateroom we booked 10 months in advance and really not thrilled with the noise from deck 14.

We got our refund back to our credit card today. It took one week, and we are very happy with MSC for the way it was handled. It was a paid in full cruise leaving 4/11.

Did you submit the online form? Did you use a travel agent?

We submitted on 3/13 as soon as the cancellations were announced and I can't even get anyone at MSC to confirm I've made a refund request for my 4/4 sailing. Booking was made directly with MSC.

  5. April 4th was to be our first sailing with MSC, unfortunately, we may not be trying again. When the cancellations were announced, I immediately filled out the online form requesting a refund.  After about 3 attempts, the request went through, I got a pop-up screen that said my FCC would be forwarded to my travel agent. Well, I didn't use a travel agent, I booked online with MSC directly and I requested a refund, not an FCC. I took a screenshot to cover myself.  I never got an email confirming I had completed the form or requested a refund. Okay, the system was slammed, so I gave it a week before I called. I was told that I would receive an email 2 weeks before my sail date.

We were to sail in 11 days, no email yet, so I called again today. I spoke to 6, yes 6 people who couldn't figure out what to do. My sister had the same exact situation and an email was sent to her as soon as she called. Really, 6 people can't confirm my refund request? My confidence in MSC actually refunding my money is waning by the minute.

Anyone else having my this problem: under Booking Information it asks for your choice, either 125% FCC or Full Refund, then it asks for Ship, Date, etc. However I am not able to enter Ship Name. I have tried on both a laptop and tablet.

Both my sister and I were able to get the form to go through after several attempts. We did so within an hour of MSC announcing and posting the form however. I'm sure their system is slammed right now. If you can't get it today, try in the wee hours of the morning when most people are sleeping and not online.

What will the cruise lines do with all the ships in Florida? How many can port at one time? Oh Wow! The poor cruise workers will probably need to stay on the ships. Must be dozens of

ships that leave from Florida ports. Dont think 5000 passenger ships can dock just anywhere LOL!

They will anchor. I imagine they will take this time for serious deep cleaning and maintenance.

I’m curious as to why they haven’t made a statement publicly about this case. I check my email often, but not everyone does.

There's no way to know if the virus was picked up on the ship. Canada and Miami are a long distance apart. The passenger clearly had quite a bit of traveling after disembarking.

We were scheduled for 3/21 out of Miami and I have not received any communication from MSC. They had no problems emailing me upgrade offers, but can’t send me an email that my cruise was cancelled?

Please be patient. MSC got slammed with the people who chose to cancel on their own, then they had to deal with all of the Europeans who could no longer travel to Miami for cruises, now they have cancelled all sailings. I'm sure they're doing the best they can. The upgrade offers don't come from MSC, they come from a third party where they are automatically generated by computer.

Horrible, horrible decision.  45 days?!?? Disney is halting cruises until the end of March, 2 weeks from now. Carnival, April 10th.  If Disney and Carnival can start earlier why not MSC...give me a break.  This whole thing is WAY overblown. I was scheduled for my 1st MSC cruise in early/mid April, but now that it's cancelled, I will be asking for a FULL refund, and I'll NEVER EVER cruise MSC EVER again.  MSC is going to look like fools looking at all that money going out the window.  What they should have done is do like Disney, and then say "...and we'll re-evaluate cruises starting in April in a weeks time, based upon the current coronavirus situation".  That would have given them flexiblity to see how this thing shakes out.

Welcome to Cruise Critic. Isn't wonderful that you can afford to take luxurious vacations with your family. We have so many choices for our cruise vacations these days. Best wishes in your future vacations.

Anyone know what this means for the cruise leaving Miami today (Friday)? Had a friend who was supposed to be traveling on that... I know they were at the boat but haven’t heard anything since.

If they've boarded, they may let them stay overnight onboard and then give them the boot tomorrow.  I believe that is what happened to a ship in the Med earlier this week.

I am flying from Europe and according to Virgin Atlantic my flight is still on even though it’s an Air France from Edinburgh to Paris then to Miami. As Msc has just cancelled my cruise on the seaside for the 21st do you think I will get a refund for the flight which I booked separately from the cruise?

If I'm not mistaken, you weren't going to be taking that flight even if your cruise wasn't canceled. You need to contact the airline.

It says it will be available "soon".  Things are happening so fast they can't keep up

I got it to go through. I opted for full refund and the screen popped up that my FCC would be issued in 14 days. I took a screenshot showing my preference for full refund and will give it some time. I know they are slammed right now. And..the same exact thing happened to my sister when she just went through the online link.

I will take FCC with generous OBC over cash refund. I never have a problem finding another cruise to book.

I'm not canceling my cruise, but if MSC does, I will want a cash refund. I have a lot of money invested in my cruise that I want back in my bank account.

  15. The Governor of New York State has declared that all State Universities (SUNY and CUNY) are not resume face-to-face classes for the rest of the semester. All classes will be conducted online and students are not to return to their colleges after spring break. That is 82 colleges in New York State.

  16. Will Airborne help prevent COVID-19,  no one can actually say yes or no. I mean, that is the concern with this virus, it is so new, and so little is known about it. Likely, the answer is no, but it certainly won't hurt. You may give your overall immune system a little boost against other things. Common colds are viruses too.

We are heading to St. Thomas beginning in April via Carnival ship, we are debate on during this on our port day, thoughts? we plan to just relax in town for the day and do some shopping. Worth doing?

I think it's a do it once and you're probably done. We did ride up and the views are really nice. We probably won't do it again, unless we are really looking for something to do.
