No explanation and I spoke again with them today. One could surmise from all of the posts that they are running low on operational cash flow and could not pay for hotels on front and back end of trip much else the ship. I should have known better since the airline tickets (saw receipt on delta) alone were $16,000 and the entire trip only cost me $19,000. Too good to be true usually is. Wish I had paid by cc rather than check.
Richard.
When pressed Vantage person said they cancelled their Portugal and Germany cruises for the season.
crossing our fingers for a complete refund but not expecting it.
so disappointed. My cousin and I are driving to Savannah next week for 5 nights instead 😫😫

Our May 12 trip was canceled at 4 pm today. I have no hope of a refund. Certainly will not go with them ever. Probably won’t be in business anyhow. Severely disappointed.
I figure if tomorrow we can check in 24 hours before it should be a go. Then a DIY trip…

American Airlines still shows us a ticketed but I’m sure they will be cancelled. I am devastated. .

Sent an e mail to vantage in regard to my Douro cruise May 12th and they responded within an hour and advised I would receive travel documents 7 days prior to departure
fingers crossed
richard and Kim Rehfeldt
I received email saying tickets to be issued two weeks before departure. We are on this same cruise. I am hopeful

we are due to sail the Douro May 12. Obviously it’s not happening. The Allianz policy we bought throughVantage states if tour company goes out of business Allianz can’t help us. So disappointing. I don’t expect to see any of our money returned

Cruising on Douro 3rd week in May. What kind of weather should we expect?
thanks

We used West Quay on recommendation of John Bull September 2019. Picked us up at the port gave us a tour around the New Forest and dropped us at Heathrow Hilton where we spent the night. Great driver, Mercedes sedan highly recommend

We are booked on a May 2023 Douro cruise with them. Family members had done it and loved it. I thought it was very expensive compared to Avalon which we usually cruise. We paid the full fare upfront for a slight discount. Later my cousin and I decided to get separate rooms as there was no single supplement. There was a $3,000 price difference and we only got a Vantage credit.

We will be on the Elegant Lady from 22 to 28th March. The itinerary is Koblenz, Aiken, Tres Karden, Cochem, Trier, Mettlach, Saarburg, Bernkastel, Traben-Trarbach, Zell, then disembark in Koblenz.
Hoping the river levels will be OK by then (we have been badly affected by Low Water on the Rhine in 2018). Thanks to Notermermaid we knew what to expect but most onboard our cruise had no idea.
We understand this is a beautiful area and we hope that we have a good itinerary as it is our first visit to the Moselle.
Did the Moselle in fall a few years ago, it is wonderful. Not a lot of commercial traffic. Seemed like our own river. The vineyards on each side are beautiful. Be sure to taste the local wine. Enjoy!

We are visiting Grenada on the Serenade on the February 10, 2020 departure.

Has anyone used this company? I’ve never heard of them before their tours are very reasonable and they have excursionsall over the world.
thanks in advance for any information.

Easy walk from port to town. Good shopping. Lovely restaurants on main square. For 15 euros we took a taxi to the lighthouse, driver waited and returned us to taxi stand. Beautiful location on a bay. Anxious to return.

Thank you Clarea.

Great report!
we did the exact same cruise in early May this year. We were the first cruise of the season and the gal checking us in at the terminal was a bit slow but it all worked out. Since it as so early in the season it was quite cool the whole cruise. In Windjammer it was always a hunt for a table as too chilly for anyone to sit outside.
felt sorry for the bundled up life guards as no one ever used the pool!
didnt get to use the balcony except to stand with blanket around us for sail ins. The sail in to Stockholm is amazing.
we dined in Chops the first night and had a window seat for the interesting sail out to the North Sea. Loved Chops. Dined there three times
we used ALLA Tours in SPB and they were awesome.
looking forward to the rest of this report, dp.

We have sailed with Avalon 4 times in Europe, always on the bottom floor. The room is compact with only a desk chair. We really don’t mind as we are usually up in the lounge or on deck. The bathroom is very nice. We were not bothered by any engine noises. Enjoy your cruise!

Came thru LHR on BA last week from Denver. Used the e-passport. Piece of cake. Actually my partner was confused on which way to put his passport in and after a couple tries we were immediately sent to a person who checkedand we got right thru. No more stamps on the passport tho 🙁

Anyone? Would like to visit but don’t want to rent a car.

Ate in Chops 3x on Baltic cruise on Brilliance. Agree that the petite steak was to die for. Only ate in MDR 3x and never had the parade. Final night in Windjammer. Got bored with Wj dinners. It was too cold to sit outside so WJ seats very crowded. Loved the cruise tho.
