  1. We're sailing on the pride in 72 days! Just wondering if anyone who has sailed recently can tell me if they do any Dr. Seuss related activities yet in Camp Carnival. I know the full roll out has not taken place, but just wondering if they do any Dr. Seuss story times, crafts or movies or anything like that. My kids are 3 and 5 and really enjoy Dr Seuss' stories. Also if any recent (2014) cruisers have copies of the Camp Carnival Capers I'd LOVE to see some new ones! The most recent ones I could find were from May 2013. Thanks!!!!! :D

We were just off the Pride and no there was no Dr Seuss activities yet. I will try to find the Camp Carnival schedule and scan it for you. I guess you are looking for the 3-5 yr old program. It was very similar to the previous years one. Not much change.

  4. In my opinion both are over priced.

We usually book on our own and save $20-$30 pp.

    Bill

Very smart. I am looking to do that in Port Canaveral. Hoping to save at least $25 pp. That is $ for more drink of the day! :)

  5. Just for the sake of it I looked at excursions on DCL and CCL that were the same in Cozumel Mexico.

    Atlantis Submarine

    DCL $109 CCL $99

    Beach Break Playa Mia

    DCL $72 CCL $79

    ATV and Beach Break

    DCL $99 CCL $79

    12 Meter Americas Cup

    DCL $89 CCL $90

    Adventure Park

    DCL $75 CCL $89

They are pretty close one way or the other.

    Bill

Wow those are very comparable! I was basing it on totally different ports of calls and not the same ones since I am now booking excursions for a CCL stopping in Port Canaveral, Nassau and Freeport and a DCL stopping in St Maarten, St Thomas and Castaway Cay. Apples to oranges.

  6. If you have never been on Disney you would probably be very surprised how they hide the kids.

I've gone with my teen son one trip, my 5 yo grandson one trip, and once with just my wife and myself.

They have kids areas that keep the kids busy and out of site and they have adults only areas, even on their private island.

I wouldn't hesitate to cruise Disney again with just my wife if Disney would just lower their prices a bit.:)

    Bill

It's true. Disney does hide the kids. I thought we were the only ones with kids for the first 2 days on our cruise. I was also shocked how many people were there without kids. Many older couples without kids or grand kids with them.

  7. Yes it's nice that you can carry on booze on DCL if you are a drinker but how do you save on excursions when you cruise DCL?

I've sailed with them 3 times but not since the newbuilds entered service and always paid the same price on excursions as they other ships would have charged.

    Bill

I find the excursions on CCL over priced. Maybe I am not comparing apples to apples since the port of calls are different. Also as someone else mentioned Castaway Cay is almost like a free excursion in itself.

The other savings is the free pop on DCL but that isn't a huge savings. I was surprised how much less the alcohol drinks were on DCL than CCL. I guess Carnival makes money off drinks where Disney makes money on the fares.

  8. From a parent of two young kids who has sailed both CCL and DCL in the last year. Carnival needs more kid friendly attractions other than the kids club. There are plenty of adult activities and events but nothing for kids. DCL has the perfect balance of adult and kid friendly attractions. Yes it costs more on DCL but you save it on alcohol and excursions. Plus a balcony room is twice the size.

The Seuss at Sea is a good idea IMO. If you don't have kids....just avoid it. It won't affect the quality of your vacation just as the casino and night clubs don't affect the quality of my kids vacation.

  9. Flying in from Baltimore, we tagged a six-day Mexican cruise to our Carnival Miracle 15-day cruise to Hawaii.

Lots of people badmouth Carnival. We thought it was just right. We are in our 70s, and have more than 30 cruises under our belt. On all mass-market lines.

So I would not hestitate recommending that you include Carnival in your research.

The best buy is a 4K, which is a balcony cabin without a balcony -- an OV with openeable french doors sold as an inside at inside prices. This was our third time in a 4K.

On the Hawaii leg we had a relatively unobstructed view of the sea. 4122. Check the deck plan for similar cabins.

I have nothing against Carnival. The price is definitely right! The food and service is just as good, if not better, than the higher priced cruise lines. I am going to look into the Carnival a Miracle to Hawaii. Thanks for the tip.

  10. Depending on when you would like to cruise, one of these may work for you:

Princess offers a 15 day Hawaii cruise on 10/2/14 that is r.t. from Vancouver. They also depart r.t. from LA in February and December this year, on 15 day Hawaii cruises. Princess also has a 15 day San Francisco r.t. that leaves next month.

Holland America has a r.t. Vancouver on 9/19/14 which is a 16 day Hawaii itinerary. As well as a 17 day Hawaii on 11/15/14 r.t. from San Diego, and an 18 day e.t. from SD in Dec. '14, Jan, & March '15. I believe that both Royal Caribbean (10 & 11 nt.) and Celebrity (12 nt.) only offer the Vancouver-Honolulu and Honolulu-Vancouver itineraries.

Wow thank you for all the research. We are thinking of spring or fall of 2015 to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I am glad there are a few options. I guess I was searching the wrong cruise lines. Thank you so much.

  11. I am having trouble finding a cruise leaving and returning to the same port to Hawaii. Is there such a thing? Or do most of them port out of Hawaii and travel to all the islands? I would really like to leave from Vancouver or LA. Any suggestions which cruise line to look at. Thanks.
