The first German patients have recovered. All were connected to Wuhan. There are new cases connected to travel in Northern Italy. Several patients have minimal symptoms, 1 or 2  cases are serious. Germany recorded all the early cases immediately and physicians have published an article about it.

Leave it to the Germans to be organized, orderly and on top of things. We were recently there....everything, including roads, train stations, main Blvds. were spotless!  No surprise they have already published an article.

  2. We had booked back to back cruises starting on  the March 1 cruise that was supposed to start in Hong Kong (now Manila) .  We cancelled and Regent allowed us to apply the money towards another cruise.  Why go on a vacation when things will be so difficult?  Even if we are allowed to dock at a port (and maybe be allowed to disembark) just getting back on the ship and going thru all the inspections and fear is not my idea of relaxation!  No trip is worth that.  Thanks Regent for stepping up to the plate and allowing loyal clients an option!  Hopefully for those electing to brave it and go, I wish you good health and good luck!

  3. Interesting.....but that is not much help to those of us boarding in Hong Kong on March 1!   So far, Regent has been silent in even attempting to assuage our concerns!  I’m not a happy camper right now.  Everything I’m reading is just adding more fuel to the fire.  More cases, especially in places where we are supposed to be going.  I realize for Regent  it is about $$$$$$. I called Regent to see if we could exchange this trip for another......HA!

  4. Thanks for your information.  We also are supposed to be leaving for a March 1 cruise on The Voyager.  Starts in Hong Kong ends in Bangkok 28 days later.  Needless to say that along with the riots in HK as well as the virus, we are questioning this trip ( we are seasoned travelers but have never been faced with quite this much doubt). Unless Regent takes some serious steps, the travel insurance  that we purchased won’t allow us to cancel.

  5. Our trip started in Amsterdam to New York, and We are currently heading to Bermuda having left the Azores 2 days ago. Weather has been perfect and glassy seas....until tonight when it’s obvious we are feeling ocean disturbance from hurricane Florence which apparently is about 400 nautical miles south and west of us. The captain has assured us that we will be fine getting to Bermuda (although rain will likely be the prediction). No one knows what to expect as we sail to New York a few days later. We’re just happy not to be on the Princess Cruise which has had to divert entirely from their itinerary and are heading north!

Navigator is handling well and the stabilizers are doing their job.....and we are on the 11th floor forward! We booked late and took last Penthouse suite which has been great. We have always preferred lower deck midship, but this has not been a problem to our surprise. A gentle rocking but nothing too bad.

  6. No dumb questions.....they are all interesting and good info for somebody. We are currently on Regent Navigator. We are on the 11th floor in a Penthouse suite.....there happens to be a “very decorated “ door on our floor. Lots of badges of where this older adorable couple have been. Actually it is colorful and fun. Why not? Whatever floats your boat (pun intended),

Sorry you have felt that cruise critic folks are critical. It really is a wonderful site to get questions answered.

  7. Any opinions about the differences between the Navigator and the Voyager? We have taken 4 or 5 cruises with Regent, but never on the Navigator . We have a trip planned on Navigator and just wondering how it compares cabin-wise, and any general observations. Has the Navigator been upgraded recently?

    Thanks

  8. Having just read several posts about ISIS in the Med. I wanted to let everyone know that Regent seems very ready for any problems while on board (I can't comment on what happens on excursions). We took a cruise last May from Dubai to Barcelona. Once we reached the Red Sea, and until we left the Suez Canal, Regent had huge hoses on all of the open public decks (like the movie "Captain Phillips" In addition, they stationed security guards on all open decks. Aft on deck 5 was a large covered piece of equipment that looked quite serious (and disappeared once we reached the Med. In addition, we had a special drill telling us exactly what to do if we were inside the ship and something was happening outside. The Captain handled the drill very seriously and very professionally. We felt that all precautions were being taken.

I'm not too sure that I would do that particular cruise now, but at the time, things were still

quieter than they have recently become. As for the Med. I agree that anything can happen anywhere you happen to be.....at not necessarily on a cruise!

  9. We will be in Dubai for several days before our cruise in May. Are there any "rules" for ladies as to dress? I know it will be hot, but are longer legnth shorts and tee shirts o.k. Do people dress up during the day for touring around? Is it more formal in the evening at the better hotels/restaurants?
