  1. My husband and I shared the internet package in August on Pacific Explorer.  If you are on the internet and someone else tries to log in using the same credentials, the first person will be bumped off, at least that was our experience.  So yes, you can all share the 1 internet package but cannot all use it at the same time.

    Hey all,

Can someone please help me.  If I am doing 3 back to back cruises with Royal Caribbean, and on the first cruise I go from Gold to Platinum, then on the 2nd cruise I will be going Platinum to Emerald... One of the rewards on platinum is the Welcome Waters & Snack + Beverage Selection, but it must be ordered 7 days in advance.  How does that work?

    Thank you in advance.

The welcome snack and beverage used to be selected in your online profile however that has changed in recent years and now I believe you have to call Royal and specify your preference.  However, since you don't actually qualify for these just yet as you haven't yet accrued the points, as others have pointed out you may have to see the Loyalty ambassador for this.   Usually the snack at these levels would be 3 or 4 cookies on a plate from windjammer and 2 bottles of water or soft drink of your choice in your room on boarding.

We also moved from Platinum to Emerald on a back to back a few years ago and received our Emerald pins on the cruise we earned the points but we might have been lucky!

Hope you have a great time 🙂

I understand it's a long shot with everything that is happening and we have not booked anything yet - received promotion email from Celebrity and was thinking of taking advantage of it since the deposit is refundable up to September 15th.  Guess worst case scenario we'll just have all the information for when we are able to cruise again... thank you though!

We did this exact itinerary in 2013 from Sydney and just loved it.   Not sure why in the pic you provided they have Willis Island half way down the QLD coast, even the blue dot is way off!   though, like someone else mentioned this is not an actual stop, more like a sail by with a weather forecast as Willis Island is basically an island weather station with lots of birdlife!

I have lived in Cairns for 27 years and honestly we haven't had a 'true' wet season for many years so I wouldn't make any decisions based on the wet season or possibility of a cyclone forming otherwise you may never actually get here!   I would count on it being hot and humid as others have said though.   I think the borders being open is the bigger issue and I'm not sure that is going to happen.   I have Radiance booked out of Brisbane for November (intrastate) and I don't even think that is assured!

Good luck though and I hope you can visit us in the not too distant future.

  4. My parents have stayed in the Deck 9 accessible cabins 9553 & 9557 and I think they were spacious and not claustrophobic even with the sofa out. I have some photos which I will try and post...hopefully they will help you make your decision. (These two rooms are a mirror image of each other).

    Good luck!

  5. Hi [emoji3]

When I know the ship and date I want to sail I go to a website that focuses only on cruises they show all the cabins available for the category but when I visit royal website they hide those good cabins n show only those that are in the worst position.

✔️Why Royal hides the best cabin from us but make it available on other travel websites?

If you want to check if a particular cabin number is available on the Australia site (assume this works for the US site as well?) just select 2 cabins when doing a dummy booking and pick any cabin category that is NOT a Guarantee cabin, click on 'Change Stateroom Assignment' - you can then put in any cabin number and it will show you if it is available or not. Note though, this is not a good method for accurate pricing!

  6. Can't answer all your questions but I have traveled a few times on P&O with toddlers and have found milk easily obtainable. Usually at breakfast there are self serve milk jugs or milk on tap for cereal which you can use to fill up bottles/containers for your little one and and you will have a small fridge in your cabin on the Jewel that you can store milk in for when you need it. Outside of breakfast hours you can still get your bottles filled with milk at The Pantry, you just may have to ask a staff member to do this for you as they don't have jugs of milk for self serve apart from breakfast time. You can also take your bottles to any restaurant/bar (including Waterfront) and they will happily fill them for you with milk. Also, staff will sterilise bottles etc on request, in fact our room steward offered many times to take our spare bottles and have them sterilised too!

We have always purchased the water on board as you can't bring bottled water with you. The last P&O ship we were on last year was Eden and I think (from my bad memory) the water that you purchase in cabin was around $24 for 6 x 1.5 litre bottles (buy 4 get 2 free) but if you think you would drink more than that then $39 for 12 bottles for pre-purchase would be better. You can take the water off with you when you leave if you don't drink it all on board.

As far as the anaphylaxis is concerned, I would not rely on the ticked box alone and hope someone takes note of it, I would be mentioning it to your waiter and guest services, room steward, kids club and any other staff who may be involved in food preparation or in regular contact with you and your little one, just to be safe :)

Have a great holiday, I'm sure you will be looked after well!

    Hello,

Will we be boarding the Jewel and are curious to know about drinks for a 3 year old.

He only drinks water or milk, so we will probably end up with the in cabin water service at a exorbitant $39! for 12 1.25lr bottles.

What about Milk - can I purchase a glass of milk? He drinks Baby Cino's too - (just milk, no chocolate or marshmallows, just the froth) Does anyone know if they do those? How much they might be?

Can you use your OBC towards these drinks?

He also is anaphylaxis to peanuts. I have put that down on the website - the online portal - but it just says "food allergies" which is the box i ticked. Do i need to further call them and tell them its a matter of life and death? We have a epipen. Do i need to tell them about that also?

Thanks, sorry if I sound strange, just the way it is with a toddler.

    Thanks

    Catherine

  7. Have just booked Pacific Eden from Cairns in October. My husband loves Crown Lager and rarely drinks any other beer . I thought I read something about it somewhere but now can't seem to find any info ???. Also we have booked an ocean view cabin as the balcony cabins are all taken . Can anyone recommend a nice place to sit outside and read ? Are there deck chairs on the promenade deck ? Thanks in advance :)

We were on this ship last year and we don't really drink but they did have crown lager for $7.50 on the room service menu, I assume the bars would be the same? As for reading on the promenade deck, there are definitely lounger chairs along each side which are shaded of course and would be lovely to relax and read a book. If you like the sun then at the oasis on Deck 10 back of ship (adults only area) there are many very comfortable lounger thick padded chairs to lay down on in the sun. I do have pics but unfortunately I'm not too tech savvy and cant get these to post!!! sorry.

  8. Thanks Adele for your reply. we are taking 3 elderly family members on their 1st cruise and dont want any accidents trying to have a shower haha . Did you enjoy your cruise on the Eden ? there are certainly some not good reports around !

Yep, we sure enjoyed our time on the Eden, in fact my husband and myself are going on her again soon (September)! It is a smaller ship but once on board I didn't feel like I was on a small ship as it seemed spacious enough. The public areas were tastefully decorated, the staff were wonderful and we definitely had a relaxing holiday. Food was generally tasty though we are pretty easy pleased!

One thing to note, only balcony cabins and above have fridges so if anyone in your party requires a fridge for medications for example (as my mother did) you can organise this prior to the cruise and the fridge will be in your cabin on arrival. Also, one of the cabins we had didn't have very good air conditioning so my husband went down to reception to enquire about a pedestal fan and they sent up a mobile air conditioner!!! i thought that was wonderful!

My elderly mother has mobility problems (bit unstable on her feet and lung problems) so she had a 4 wheelie walker with her and she did have a bit of trouble getting into the bath (only because it has a high edge) but there are well placed secure hand rails that are helpful, they also have a rubber bath mat which my mother found she didn't require. I think mum mentioned something about a step, not sure if the steward offered this to her or what but that may be something to keep in mind if any family are having trouble...though having said that I'm pretty sure if they are in interior cabins they will only have the shower cubicle so shouldn't have any trouble.

Pacific Eden is a lovely ship, I hope you all have a great holiday :)

  9. Looking to book cruise on Eden with elderly parents. Have read that the showers are over baths ! Can anyone who has been on Pacific Eden in an Interior or Oceanview cabin tell me what their bathroom had - Shower recess or shower over bath ?

Have been getting conflicting answers from P&O and other websites !!

    Thanks in advance

We cruised a few times on Eden last year in 2 different Oceanview cabins and 2 different Balconies and they all had a shower over a bath but the interior room that my uncle had was a shower only - no bath. I believe all interior cabins have the shower only.

    Hope this helps :)

  10. Hi,

I think you would be assigned a cabin in the OA cabin category...if you look at a deck plan for Pacific Eden these would be the dark orange cabins mid ship deck 5. I don't think they would ever sell for anywhere near $7000, although I too have seen these massive fares quoted on various websites with a sale price also listed - a sales gimmick I think! I also think that what you have paid is probably a normal average price, if that helps.

Last year I sailed on Eden a few times and we had an oceanview on Deck 6 and it was quite comfy for the two of us but these cabins have the window that looks out onto the Promenade deck and even though there is a film on the window that supposedly you can't see through during the day, of course with the light on or at night, you can see right in hence we kept the curtains closed most of the time. Then we had an oceanview quad on deck 5 and this room seemed bigger in that it had a 3 seater sofa bed whereas the deck 6 oceanview had a 2 seater couch. Not alot extra I know but that was the only point of difference I noticed so in my opinion you have the better room booked on Deck 5.

    Hope this helps!

  11. Thanks Adele

We are heading to PNG on the Eden in 2 weeks and there has been very little info and our roll call is virtually non existent.

Did you happen to go to PNG? If so could you give me a bit of a run down on the ports please. I don't expect issues with the ship as have been on many lines and as I don't expect a lot from P & O I won't be disappointed. We are a group of 5 and it is first P & O for 1 and first cruise for 2 so hopefully everyone will be just happy to be on a cruise.

If you went PNG did you have any vaccinations, medication etc?

Have just got back from Japan and haven't had time to check with my dr yet.

Yep, we went to PNG though I can't speak about the ports since we didn't end up getting off the ship! combination of rainy weather, hubby had activities booked and the last stop was abandoned due to it being too windy for the tenders. However, we are going back in a few weeks with extended family so will do the ports on the next trip. Sorry I couldn't be of more help in this regard.

We didn't need any special vaccinations or medications. They organise your electronic PNG visa for you and add the fee of $6 to your onboard account.

We just love cruising and getting away from work so are pretty easy pleased but we loved the ship, there are plenty of public spaces to chill out, the decor is nice, we didn't have any trouble with staff and service or food so I'm definitely looking forward to going back on her in a few weeks time.

    Have a great holiday!

  12. We're sailing on Eden in a couple of weeks and sadly my partner will have to work most of the time. It'll all be managed by email so we'd like to conform that new internet pricing has been introduced.

We have found the following -

On longer sailings of five days or more, the aforementioned Bronze social media plan also applies for the same price, however the structure changes for higher tiers. For more general internet access to browse websites or download email, guests can purchase blocks of megabytes starting from $19 for 100MB, $39 for 250MB or $69 for 500MB, each valid for one device. Guests have up until the end of their cruise to consume the purchased blocks.

At the top of the tree, a Platinum package is also available for cruises longer than five days, with full and unlimited access, with no download limits for the entire cruise priced at $99, again for one device. This same package can be purchased at $20 per day for users who may require heavy for short periods of up to a day at a time.

Can anyone confirm the above pricing structure on Eden, and P&O Oz in general?

Hi! we got just got off Pacific Eden last weekend and paid $79 for the unlimited package (7 night cruise) as we wanted to Facetime our two young children. The unlimited package is normally $99.

We bought a VIP Photo package (can't remember exact name but it is well advertised on the ship) which was $29.95 and included the 2 embarkation photos printed as well as a digital copy on a P&O USB, $20 off Scenes DVD and $20 off unlimited internet. This meant we actually paid only $79 for unlimited internet and as we always get embarkation photos and Scenes DVD, we thought this was good value. Of course if you have no intention of buying embarkation photos or the Scenes DVD this may not be as economical!

We could not connect in our cabin though had no trouble connecting in all the public areas of the ship that we tried.

    Hope this helps!

    Adele.

  13. I've included a couple of photos but I must apologise for the poor quality as they are screen grabs from videos I took.

I think they will give you a general idea about the bed on the wall (which was never folded down by the way) and the white metal 'bracket' that was on the floor. Please bear in mind though that we moved the double bed to be flush against the right hand wall (looking in as you walk into cabin) so the configuration we had was not the norm (though the first pic of the double bed was taken before our room attendant helped us move the bed against the wall!)

    Hope these help!

    Adele.

  14. No problems at all. It had a third bed on the wall (left hand side as you walk into the cabin), not one that comes down from the roof. We didn't use this as we had a cot. My husband and I moved the double bed against the wall and had the portacot underneath the bed attached to the wall, if you can visualise!! So definitely a double bed. There was a metal bracket on the floor for the third bed that jutted out and might be easy to trip on though we never tripped on it. I will try and find some photos as I did take pics of this room. Yes it was refurbed though I only noticed new carpet, perhaps the linen and curtains may have been new too though I couldn't tell!! We had been on the Jewel in a balcony cabin back in 2011 so in comparison I only really noticed the carpet and perhaps the linen chair cover.

On the August 2013 cruise we were on they were changing all the mattresses on deck 10 cabins over when we stopped in port Vila, our cabin wasn't changed but that was while they were still doing minor work after the dry dock so I don't know if mattresses or other things were changed after our cruise.

Interesting that you have connections to cairns, it is nice up here except for when we get cyclones!!

I'll look for some cabin photos and figure out how to upload them...I'm a bit new to posting :)

  15. We were in 6123 on Pacific Jewel just after the refurb last year. It was very quiet, we certainly didn't hear any noise from the Marquee.

The only noise I remember was when we first arrived in port vila and *I think* they were letting the tenders down or the anchor (I'm not sure which), it made a loud shuddering noise that only lasted a few minutes, having said that, my 18 month old daughter slept through it so it wasn't too bad!! I was worried about being up front as we are usually mid to aft but honestly I liked this room and had no problems. Enjoy your trip!

    Adele.
