  1. Family has sailed many times from Florida, New York, Vancouver and Hawaii but never from San Juan. We will be flying in the night before so can anyone recommend a hotel that offers shuttle service to the pier or within walking distance as there are 13 of us ages 18 months to 76. Also, when the cruise ends any recommendations for transportation to the airport for this large group? TIA

  2. My sister is bringing her 8 month old baby on the Fantasy in July prior to us doing 3 days in the park. How have people dealt with bringing baby food on the ship? Did you pack it and bring it or did you have it delivered to the hotel prior to leaving for the ship? Same question with diapers. Thanks.

  3. My in-laws have never cruised before and decided to take my daughter (22) and her twin cousins (18) on an Alaskan cruise sailing out of Vancouver in June on the Celebrity Millenium. They are flying in the day before and need hotel suggestions preferably that offer a shuttle to the dock or are a close cab ride away. Any suggestions?

  4. We were on the 4 day Enchantment that sailed on July 28. My family (DH, 2 DD ages 19 and 23) was with a group of 64 friends ages 5 to 65. We picked this cruise because it fit everyone's schedule. The majority of us had cruised before so we knew what to expect however none of us expected to cruise with 357 15 year old girls from Argentina. I was hoping their travel season would have been over by our cruise, but it was not.

Having daughters who have traveled a lot as teens, I can honestly say I would not have sent them as 15 year olds on a cruise in another country with limited chaperones, let alone male chaperones. My daughters traveled a lot with school and sports teams and we always had plenty of parents with us and made sure the girls acted appropriately. The 15 year olds on this ship didn't understand lines or that the Solarium was for adults only. Luckily, the ship staff dismissed them from the Solarium, and we just avoided the Windjammer in order to avoid them at meal time. Their style of dress exposes a lot more of them than American teens are use to exposing so just be warned.

Luckily my family stayed in the Solarium area when we were on the ship - which is very nice by the way.

The goal of this trip was to reconnect with old friends and we were able to accomplish that and make some great memories. The Enchantment doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of the newer ships, but the staff was very nice and we had FUN! Many of our group had been to Coco Cay before (we suggest getting chairs in the Barefoot Beach area to the right of the water rides) and to Nassau so we just enjoyed being together rather than putting a lot of effort into site seeing.

We had 8:30 seating in My Fair Lady and the staff was great. Food was just so-so but not horrible. The last night all 64 of us ate at Chops which has larger shrimp, great pretzel rolls and better steaks.

We all at least got the $20 per day Royal Replenish drink package with many of the adults getting the packages with the alcohol as well. I think the men got their money's worth on the alcohol. We liked the Coke drink machines - especially the different flavored waters.

The best lunch food is in the Solarium's Park Café as it has make your own salads, great sandwiches and nice desserts (including sugar free).

Don't miss the Captain's reception with the free champagne and the flag presentation where the staff members from different countries perform in the Centrium.

Most of us had superior outside staterooms with balconies on Deck 7. These rooms are great for 3 people but crowded for 4 so we got our daughters a separate room (great decision for all of us). These rooms had more than enough storage. Some might think the bathroom is small, but it was larger than one we had on a Carnival cruise. Our stateroom attendant was great and friendly.

Casino workers were very friendly to us as we had several veteran casino players in our group. Entertainers were entertaining. Since we were a big group, we made a lot of our own fun, which was fine with us.

Getting on and off the ship was very easy as we had all of our paperwork completed ahead of time.

This group had sailed together before on the Monarch of the Seas. A 4 night cruise seems to fit our schedules. I would love to try RCLs new ships but we like cruising with our friends and this ship allowed us to do so. We made some great memories and that's what made the cruise.

  5. Thanks for the report as we are sailing on July 28! How was Coco Cay? Was there another ship there when you were there?

I hope the teens aren't on our cruise, but I plan on spending my ship time in the Solarium. Did you go there? Was it empty of teens? Not that I don't like kids as my 2 daughters are going with me but they are 23 and 19!

  6. My dad has chronic pancreatitis which means he has to live with it all the time. He has a morphine disk implanted in his stomach to help him deal with the pain so going through all security gates is a crazy ordeal but he doesn't want to miss out on life. He has cruised with us on Disney, Princess and NCL and only once has he had to go to the ship's doctor. He really watches what he eats BEFORE he cruises and of course on the cruise. He loves the ice cream machines as he eats a lot of that. He also gave up drinking alcohol and sticks with cola as it soothes his digestive tract. Also, he only eats on the ship so he knows exactly what is in the food he is eating.

He also takes all of his medications in the original bottles. When he did go to the ship's doctor, what he had to pay he put on a credit card and submitted it for reimbursement through his insurance company when he got back. Just so you know you may never have another attack - and I hope you don't - that first attack is incredibly scary and something you never want to experience again. But don't let pancreatitis stop you from traveling.

  7. Is there a way to tell if another RCI ship will be at CocoCay the same day your ship will be there? We are sailing on the Enchantment July 28-Aug 1 and will be there July 29.

  8. How do you buy day passes to any of the hotels in Nassau (besides Atlantis)? I'm interested in the Hilton and on their website they have day rates for their rooms, but they cost $199!!! I don't need a room, I just want the beach with chairs, a place to get drinks and maybe something to eat. Thanks.

  9. I haven't sailed on the Enchantment before and had some questions about the Adults only pool area as I want to really relax on this trip. Nothing against kids, but I've sailed with mine for years and now that they are adults, it's time to take advantage of the adults only areas.

    1. Are there any sunny areas as I do want to get some sun or is the entire area under glass?

    2. Is there a bar in the adults area? It looks like it on the deck layout but I'm not sure.

    3. Is there access to the spa area from the pool?

    4. We will be sailing July 28-Aug 1, is this area ever full?
