  1. I checked on visacentral and it is saying that I do not need a visa (I do have a passport) to enter Canada because I am a U.S citizen. I am leaving from Seward AK. I'm just looking for confirmation that this is correct. I'm sure I am worrying for nothing but I just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row.

    Thanks

  2. My husband and I brought cargo pants on our trip. Glad we did no extra packing and we did have days that we zipped the pant portion off into shorts. We went at the end of July beginning of August. We may go back next year and as far as shoes go on the land portion I'm bring trail runners. As others have said layering is key.

  3. We just got back from Alaska and went through Hoonah travel adventures in Icy Strait. The boat fits 18 people max we had 16 passengers on our tour. The boat is comfortable and clean. The tour was amazing and we both wished we had more time with this tour. The boat has an enclosed area and an open area in the front and back of the boat. This allowed people to move around and get good pictures and videos of the whales.

  4. Hi apachemd,

The first thing we looked at when planning our land/cruise tour was our budget and planned from there. We like to splurge on vacation but I don't mind saving a penny or two. Check out the toursaver book it has 2 for 1 coupons.

Second, we needed to decide if we wanted to do a cruise tour or DIY. We decided we are more of the DIY type people. I want to be able to stop if I want or sleep in. It seemed like the cruise tours were always wanting the bags or people out early.

Third, we needed to decide where we wanted to go. We looked through a few Alaska books, pulled out a map, read reviews, and researched places we thought would be interesting. A few of the reviews I really enjoyed and thought were helpful are listed below.

We've only cruised on Royal Caribbean. We're really happy with the ships that we have been on in regards to service, food, cabins, and the ports.

I can't comment on Alaska yet because we are heading there at the end of the month. I hope you are able to put together a wonderful trip.

  5. The shoes are the problem in my packing. I've narrowed it down to four pairs.

Waterproof hiking (wearing these on the plane)

Running shoes (for workouts and of course running:D)

Athletic sandals (for the pool and the chance of a really warm day)

Black dress shoes (will be doing the dressy vs formal)

I have two pairs of the convertible zip off pants and a couple pair of pants that look like dress pants if paired with a dressy shirt or casual if paired with a t-shirt.

I've decided to bring one skirt and just change out the tops maybe change the look with a scarf or jewelry.

Again my husband thinks my carry-on and a backpack is never going to happen but I've had a year to plan this out so I think it will work.

  6. Have a great time:)

We're going later in the summer and I told my husband that I'm bring a carry-on and a backpack. He says that is never going to happen.

It so hard to decide which shoes to bring.

  7. The actual name of the excursion is Blue Lagoon deluxe beach break. I looked it up to see if I could find it in the shore excursion and it showed up on the 2nd page in the Nassau section. It's $65 pp

I was thinking maybe they have it posted in the general information but for those booked already it's not showing up because of reason mentioned above by other people.

  8. Another vote for Blue Lagoon beach

We went to the beach directly behind the lunch area and pretty much had the beach to ourselves the entire day. We brought with our snorkel gear and felt like we had our own private island.
