@orphanedif you look at the invoice for the 3rd of Sep one does it say it’s paid or final payment paid?

The Deposit Confirmation states final payment of 9 July (done on 27 June).  We received a Booking Confirmation on 6 July.  Looks like they have deducted the balance of the 3 Sept fare from the amount paid for the 22 August cancelled sailing.  There is a "net due", which is the credit OWED TO US so I will be chasing that up on Monday.

We are using a Princess PVP (based in Sydney) and she has been excellent, knows what she is doing, and amazing communication.  (We initially booked over the phone and struck a grossly inexperienced person who barely spoke English had to get advice every time I had a query - really hopeless, I guess it must be an awful struggle for them and the other cruise companies at the moment so I try to be patient)

Best of luck, I am sure it will all work out just fine, it's hard "waiting", I know.

For those booked on the 22nd August cruise is it still showing online for you? I am really confused as to what is happening with our cruise. We decided to change to the 3rd of Sep QLD cruise. I was told that I could do that by Princess and the difference would be issued in FCC. But now my QLD cruise is showing as not paid online with deposit being due today? The conflict island cruise is still showing as well. It says if I don’t pay today it will be cancelled? I paid the conflict island cruise in full and assumed the funds would just be transferred over to the new cruise? Any ideas?

We cancelled the 22 August sailing but the 3 replacements are showing online as well as the 3 Sept one.  The lady at Princess said this was a glitch.  I understand we can't complete the medallion process until final payment is made and everything is confirmed (a bit annoying and time-wasting, having completes this for the earlier cancelled sailing)

The 3 Sept cruise is less expensive than the cancelled one (for us at least).   As we understand it, final payment will be taken out of the funds already paid and the balance refunded to our credit card which may take 10-14 days.

What really annoys me is that the 22 Aug sailing was cancelled within 24 hours of us making final payment for that trip.  We are from NZ and are looking forward to some warm weather.  Bouncing in and out of Sydney on the 3 smaller sailings with 3 days docked in Sydney is not our idea of a tropical cruise.  As much as we like Sydney, we did not need to "sail in and out" 8 times (we were also on the earlier relocation sailing from Brisbane down to Sydney).  Just hope they don't cancel this one too!

  3. I hope this is allowed, it has been some time!

We are New Zealand citizens living in New Zealand.  We are looking for a travel insurance policy that has coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.   We have always used Allianz (in NZ) in the past - husband has pre-existing medical conditions (atrial flutter treated successfully with ablation, and myonotic dystrophy type 1, - no medications involved).  Both conditions are currently stable and have been that way for at least the past 5 years, and there have been no issues getting coverage.  Cover is now being declined because of hubby's age (66) and destination of travel (USA).  Is anyone else in the same boat? (excuse the pun) and able to offer advice please?

Travelling to the USA/Hawaii/cruising was has been a big part of our lives, and something which we are keen to continue in retirement.

    Thanks in advance, Sandra

Strange, I have several fairly serious pre existings and on meds, like 10 tablets a day, declared them with a supporting letter from GP. 1Cover gave me insurance just 2 weeks ago when I booked my Westerdam cruise for November.  They do it all on line, the questions, assessment etc.

They will cover one of the pre-existing (atrial flutter) but not the other (myotonic dystrophy, considered to be mild, stable/no change since being diagnosed over 5 years ago).  Perhaps I should try the Oz site.  I suspect it's the destination - USA!   We have always had to jump thru hoops when trying to get travel insurance cover to the US, esp as we get older (66 and 63 now).  It is just so unfair ... esp when condition has been table and no meds required, etc

Not sure if 1Cover will allow you to take out a policy from NZ. I have several pre existing conditions and they gave me a policy for a Domestic cruise at a fair price.

I got the Australian cruise insurance which includes Covid Cover, 13 day cruise NSW, Tas, Vic, SA. It was $238,. (policy was $155 plus $83 for declared conditions.)

Thank you.  We can take out policies in NZ but unfortunately they dont cover my husbands pre existing conditions (despite being stable for past 3 years, and on no meds).  Really gutting ...

  7.

We shall be visiting Shanghai with HA next month, which includes an overnight stay at the port.

My husband and I are “big” kids and are keen to visit Shanghai Disney (preferably on the day that we arrive into Shanghai, 20 March, 8 a.m.) and looking for information/recommendations on the best way to do this.  Disney is not included on the ship’s excursions.

Happy to spend the night off the ship, maybe do the Zhujiajiao Water Water Town on the way back to the ship (Tuesday 21 March, sailing at 6 p.m.).

Open to any suggestions, advice, etc.

    Cheers

Forget the find your roll call tool.

Go to the section of these boards called ROLL CALLS.

Find your cruise line in the list and click on it.

Now find your ship and click on it.

Scroll down until you find your daily date.  Yes, you can search but honestly because there is no standardization for how to write the date, it is more accurate to just scroll down until you find it. Depending on the cruise line, you may have to scroll down a few pages.

When you find the sail date, click on the roll call title. There is a reply box at the bottom or each page.

    Thank you so

  9. I think it would be in AUD as well like the shore excursions. Hope you have a great cruise.

Thanks. It's ambiguous. Shore Excursions state AUD but drink prices dont show a currency, just 59

(AUD would work out great for kiwis; USD not so great)

I was hoping somebody currently on board might be able to tell us (to see whether it's worth prepaying) so will keep fingers crossed

  10. We are joining you guys on Thursday, doing the LA to Auckland leg. Can't wait.

We are contemplating an all inclusive beverage package. It's quoted at 59 pp per day but doesn't say which currency. Presumably its USD?? (Shore excursions seem to be quoted in AUD, it would be nice if the beverage package was too, but we should be so lucky!!)

Can anyone clarify please and also advise if there is any advantage to getting it now or waiting til we board???

Thanks in advance. See you later next week.

  11. Hi there, we are on Golden Princess in a couple of weeks which stops at Maui (Lahaina). We are trying to sort out a private tour. There seem to be tours going from Lahaina and Maalea. Does anyone know where the Tenders land please? Thanks in advance.

  12. Thanks Steve, hopefully it will be ok for just the one night. But ... what you recommend?

It might be nice to walk a few blocks after that long "sit" over.

    Cheers

Wouldn't be my choice of hotels in San Pedro...but...

There is a 7-11 mini-mart virtually across Gaffey Street (be careful for traffic)...

About 4 blocks down Gaffey (at 5th), there s a Rite-Aid drug store (and drug stores and supermarkets in California sell liquor). If you want really good wine, head to Off the Vine on 6th, just across Pacific. If you just want a bite to eat and/or a drink at night, head a little further down 6th--to the San Pedro Brewing Co.

    http://sanpedrobrewing.com/

Open late...great food, craft beers and other drinks...

Of course, you are now about eight blocks from your hotel, so, depending on how much you've had to drink, you may want to take a taxi or an Uber back...

  13. Hi there, we are staying at Best Western Suites Plus, San Pedro (Gaffey Street) the night before our cruise. Just wondering if there are any convenience/liquor stores within walking distance where we might be able to get a few snacks, a couple of bottles of wine, or any of those things that get left behind at the last minute (toothpaste!), etc. I understand we are allowed one bottle each to take on our Princess cruise. We are flying NZ to LA, with limited luggage and don't want to carry anything more than we have to! We might also be in need of a "pick-me-up" type refreshment after that awful long flight over. Any help/recommendations gratefully accepted.

    Cheers

  14. My card, which is a Chase Sapphire, has trip insurance as well, but doesn't cover medical. On another CC thread, someone was talking about purchasing just medical and gave the name of a couple of sites that are used specifically for overseas travel:

    https://www.hthtravelinsurance.com/travel_medical.cfm

    https://www.medexassist.com/

These were the two that were recommended by several of the world cruisers on the WC thread. I checked them out and for a 14 day trip, I could get medical coverage that included medical transport for around $60 per person, which is much cheaper than the all inclusive travel insurance.

Has anyone else done this--purchased just the medical insurance to cover out of country but let the credit card cover the travel insurance part? Chase Sapphire has trip interruption/cancellation, baggage delay, travel and emergency assistance, lost luggage reimbursement, and travel accident death/dismemberment insurance. Is there anything that the all inclusive pays for (besides the medical) that is not listed?

Unfortunately all the sites mentioned so far only seem to cover US residents, we have yet to find a company who covers New Zealand citizens travelling internationally (LA back to NZ on 21 night cruise sailing)

  15. Thought I would our recent experience with FCC and obc.

Last April we partook of our first Princess sailing, on Diamond. We loved it so much that we paid a $NZ100 for a future cruise credit and obc, to be used on our next Princess sailing.

We have just booked Golden Princess from LA to Auckland, but were dismayed to find out our $100 cruise credit and obc did not apply to this sailing. WHY - because we had paid the FCC in NZ dollars, and the Golden booking is being done through a US travel agent (on line). Apparently we need to book within our zone (Australia/NZ) to use the FCC.

Feeling a bit let down but equally looking forward to our forthcoming sailing.

  16. Hmmmm. Will test this out soon as we are booked on a Sydney-Hawaii-Sydney cruise in August. Plan on ringing Allianz CC complimentary insurance line re PEMC the day I pay for the tickets with cc. Will be interested in their response re USA. May have to fork out big $$s for travel insurance. Will keep CCs followers posted as many utilise credit card comp. insurance. Actually there has been a large volume of posts re travel insurance just recently. I would suggest you do a search on here and read a few of the posts for recommendations.

Thanks - look forward to hearing about how you get on.

  17. Please be careful that whatever travel insurance you are considering applies to your country of residence. Most policies require the insured to be resident in the country where the cover is issued eg a US resident could not purchase a policy from an Australian insurer

Read the policy requirements carefully before taking it out

Good luck in obtaining cover from one pre-existing cover person to another - and please don't take a risk on cover in the US as an unexpected event could get very expensive

Thanks for that. Will get the policy wording and check carefully. Would prefer to try and source it nearer to home but it's knowing where to start. Recommendations on this site are so super-helpful.
