  1. Lots of posts on this topic so I may have missed an answer to this question but, are ya'll getting the CVS/Walgreens tests done at home before departure or after you arrive in the port city? We have a March 17 cruise, driving to Orlando and plan to leave home early on the 15th to meet friends. Options are to test here and leave home later in the day on the 15th or test in Orlando on the 16th.

Royal Caribbean announced it will begin offering select sailings that visit Perfect Day at CocoCay twice, along with late night stays.

Beginning September 30, 2019, Royal Caribbean will offer 4-night itineraries to the private island destination across nearly 40 sailings. Three exclusive cruises also make their debut today.

In addition, three one-of-a-kind cruises with late-night visits to the island will be offered on Navigator of the Seas. Travelers of all ages will have the chance to extend the excitement long after the sun sets with traditional Bahamian-inspired activities, including a Junkanoo Jam Up Party, an island barbeque and performances by a calypso band and fire dancers, topped off with unforgettable farewell fireworks before setting sail.

The new itineraries are available to guests on select Navigator and Mariner of the Seas sailings.

"Perfect Day at CocoCay has revolutionized private destinations in the vacation industry, and the resounding feedback from our guests is that they want more – more time and even more ways to experience the island," said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. "We’re building on an incredible adventure that’s already winning the hearts of many."

Liking this itinerary... thinking of booking two balconies side by side on Mariner of the Seas. Does anyone know if  balconies connect between staterooms on Mariner allowing access between the staterooms and essentially doubling the size of the balcony? Thanks!

No as I elaborate in post 102 and post 110.

I rarely read any criticism of CS so whichever way we thank them they certainly deserve our goodwill and respect.

  4. We alternate. one cruise RCI, the next Carnival. We are going on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas in April 2019, and have already booked Carnival Mardi Gras for April 2021. We book early to get the cabin we want. Carnival Vista, Horizon and Mardi Gras have the Havana areas. We book the Havana Cabana, a "balcony" which is more of a porch/lanai. The Havana bar and pool areas restrict access and only allow those staying in Havana staterooms access until 7pm each night. It seems as if you have the whole ship to yourself. Breakfast buffet set up nearby each morning and the specialty coffee/ MILKSHAKE area is just around the corner.  We enjoy both of these cruise lines. If you go Carnival, and there are just two of you.... you'll appreciate the Havana class staterooms.

  5. I do enjoy the occasional Mo-jito while cruising. Now that I've gone keto, my plan is to order a Mo-jito at Bolero's, and ask the bartender not to use the simple syrup (sugar water). I'll ask for Club Soda only, along with the rum, mint and lime. Next I'll squirt some liquid Stevia in the glass to take the place of the missing syrup. I hope this works... then I'll have a Keto-jito.

  6. Be sure to explain your expectations to RCI when you purchase the package. They may not agree.

My wife and I both purchased the Premium package on Freedom April 2013. I would normally order the drinks at the bar and presented both cards every time. Drink for her...her card. drink for me...my card. When the waiter stopped by and brought our drinks, we also presented both cards.

If I purchase the package but my wife does not, I would still expect to present both cards... her receipt would display $8 (+15%) and my receipt would display $0.

If we each drink $40 in a day, we would be billed $40 (+15% tip) and I would have essentially overpaid for drinking that day because of the package. $60, and I would have gotten more than the package cost.

Fair to me and fair to RCI. Just because I decide to drink less than the cost of the package doesn't mean RCI owes me or my wife something to make up for the difference. Some of you folks here should probably just pay as you go and don't order the package.

We're going on Explorer in November and my wife and I will both be purchasing the premium package. If we come out ahead or behind...who knows...and it really doesn't matter. It's about the convenience anyway. We're just going to enjoy our cruise and try not to stress over RCI making an extra nickel.

  7. Sorry but I'm not having that.

If I buy the package I am entitled to a minimum of $55 worth of drink per day because I have paid $55 for it.

Obviously on a day where I drink over that minimum, which, as you point out, is my right, I have no right to get drinks for another party. However on a day when I am below the minimum I believe I have the right to if I wish. Only up as far as the $55 though.

    I think thats reasonable

Be sure to explain your expectations to RCI when you purchase the package. They may not agree.
