  1. Thanks for the quick responses.

After I found out that I was booked in the annex rather than the main hotel, I did consult Trip Advisor as well as a few other reviews and noted that most of the reviews were favorable. I was hoping that someone out there had actually stayed in the annex and would pass on their experience.

We've decided to keep our reservation and then post our experience. The hotel and annex is in a good location to the water bus system, directly across from the entrance, right next to the cruise port and the price was about a hundred dollars a night less than the main hotel. We'll see how it is and regardless, enjoy our time in Venice before our cruise.

    Thanks again for the input.

    Have a great day

  2. Hey Guys

I thought I had booked a room at the Hotel Santa Chiara near the port in Venice, only to find out that the hotel was full and that they reserved a room in the their annex the Residenza Parisi. Does anyone have any information, pro or con, on this hotel annex?

  3. Anyone been through customs at POM recently? SWA moved our flight out of FLL from 12:45pm to 11:50am on Monday December 4, 2017, so I need to make a decision to try to make the flight or rebook.

Ship arrives at 7:00 am and I am planning on debarking ship around 8:00. Figure 60 min from POM to FLL, 30 min to check bags and since we are TSA Pre Check, planning on another 30 min there, then on to the gate. By this account, we should have time to make the flight even if I allow 60 min. for customs. Any and All input would be great. Thanks

  4. Hey Yorkies Rule

There are quite a few of us that are on the Dec. 3rd Ruby Cruise with you. Please come over to our Roll Call and join in the conversation. We have an informal get together planned on the ship and you are welcome to join us even if you don't participate in the Roll Call.

    Hope you come on over

    Have a great day

  5. No need to buy a special cord to adapt your 110v CPAP to the 220v outlet behind the bed, just ask the steward to install a ship supplied 110v adaptor. We were on the Regal just after she returned from Europe and noted that there were no 110 outlets available. We asked for an extension cord to connect to the desk outlet and our steward told he could get an adaptor to convert the 220v outlet behind the bed to a 110v. My CPAP worked great and no long extension from the desk.

  6. Hey Guys

Just want to throw this out there for you and any other readers that are following this post. Other than being concerned about whether your airline participates, I want to let you know that just because you fill out and submit the EZ Check form, there is no guarantee you will be able to use the EZ Check service.

My wife and I were on the Regal last November and we opted to use the EZ Check to avoid the lines at FLL. Long story short, my wifes' application for EZ Check was accepted and the room steward delivered her boarding pass for our flight , luggage tags and notification of her debarkation time. My application, that was submitted at the same time and for the same flight, was rejected for some unknown reason. I was given a notification of my rejection, instructed to put my luggage in the hall during the required time frame and was given a different debarkation time from that of my wife.

I checked with the Customer Services Desk and they were unable to explain why my EZ Check application was not accepted, nor did they try to obtain one. They did, however, change my debarkation time so that my wife and I could leave the ship at the same time.

While I was at the Customer Service Desk, I was able to talk to one of the ranking officers there and his explanation was that EZ Check was an independent service subcontracted by Princess and that Princess had no control over it. Essentially "tuff luck"!! Did it ruin our cruise? Hell no!!!! It would take much more than this FUBR to ruin a cruise for us. Stuff happens and you deal with.

I did follow up with a letter to Princess and as of this date, I have not received an explanation for the rejection of my EZ Check. I did, however, receive a letter from Princess stating that they were sorry this happened, that they strive to provide an excellent product/service, blah, blah, blah and that stuff beyond their control happens. Maybe I was the one in a million to have to deal with this problem. Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket when we got off the ship in FLL.

Morale of this post is that just because you fill out the EZ Check form doesn't automatically mean you'll get to use the service.

  7. The food served on Princess Cay is much like what you would expect at a good old family cookout with food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, ribs, salads, fruits and such, all served buffet style with rather long lines. Considering Princess Cay is essentially a day at the beach, the food goes along with that theme. We've been there several time and always enjoyed ourselves. Have fun!!!

Chair availability isn't all that bad. Don't expect to have a prime chair near the water but you should be able to find something in a location that pleases you.

  8. You might want to look into using the EZ Check that the ship offers. Using this service, you check you bags the last night of the cruise and you don't have to deal with them until you get home. The ship will give you information half way through your cruise. Cost is $20 per person for, I think, for 2 bags and they will give you your boarding passes as well. No standing in line to check bags with the airline, although you still have to go through the long security line.

I think it is a service worth while considering, but I will share a recent experience we had when using this service on the Regal Princess when we sailed out of FLL in November 2015. We signed up for the service and my wifes' request went through without a hitch. However, my request was rejected and no one on the ship could or would get me an answer as to why she was able to check her luggage while I was not. I went as high as Hotel Manager and all I got was that they were sorry for my inconvenience and that the service was run by an outside company that the ship had no control over it.

Bottom line was that we asked for and received an early disembarkation, made it to the airport (FLL) with plenty of time to check my bags (30 mins.), make it through the security scanning (60 mins) and catch our flight without too much fuss. Just thought I would throw that out there to help you plan your time.

  9. Hey guys:

Thank you all for your information. We were thinking that you had to complete the 6th cruise before the perks kicked in. Glad we don't!! After November, I guess we'll start working on Elite status. Looking forward to not having to wait in long lines at check in and tender calls.

Ya'll have a great day now

  10. I have a question as to when the platinum level take effect.

We have a 5th cruise booked for 11/2015 and a 6th cruise booked for 12/2016 and we understand that for the 5th cruise we are considered medallion cruises under the current program. Do we have to complete the 6th cruise to become platinum cruisers or are we considered platinum cruisers after we complete the 5th cruise and receive platinum perks during our 6th cruise?

Thanks for any and all who take the time to answer our question.

  11. I have noted that there are several horseback riding outfitters in Aruba, which one is the best deal? Also can anyone tell me which one provides the Princess excursion?

    Thanks
