  1. We are on the Millennium southbound cruise tour. (Land first) on August 20. We can check in for cruise but haven’t heard a thing about the land portion yet.  Does anyone know approximately when we might get some information?

    Just a bit anxious.

    Thanks!

  3. Thanks so much!!!

We're staying at the Denali Park Village.  We arrive Sunday around 4:30 pm so we have that evening.  Monday the trip includes the Natural History tour in the morning (unless we upgrade) and have the rest of that day.  Then some time on Tuesday morning on our own.

That does sound like the same riverboat trip.

  4. We are on the Celebrity cruisetour.  We have booked our shore excursions for the cruise portions, but I have a few questions regarding the land portion.

In Fairbanks we go on a riverboat cruise, visit and an Indian Village and a dog sled camp.  I'm wondering if you get up close and personal with the dogs?  Is this similar to the Dog sled camp excursions on the ship?

In Denali the tour includes the Natural History tour but there is an option to upgrade to the Tundra Wilderness tour.  It looks like the Tundra tour is 8 hours and appears to be mostly a bus ride.  Is that true?  I'd rather hike than ride a bus all day.  Suggestions?

Any must do suggestions for our free time in Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna, Anchorage or Seward?

    Thanks!

  5. We're so excited for our Alaska land and cruise tour in August.  We're doing the land portion first (Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna, Anchorage, Seward) then boarding Millennium (Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Straits Point, Ketchican and inside passage, Vancouver)

Any suggestions on packing only one suitcase per person?  I've heard it's a bit more relaxed dress for Alaskan cruises, is that true?

Also, do you have any "must do" recommendations for shore excursions or sites not to miss for either the land or cruise?  We're a pretty active group between mid 30's to early 60's.

I'd love to see the Northern lights but I think we might be a bit early for that.  Aug 15-28

Would love to hear your thoughts and tips.

    Thanks!

  6. We're interested in seeing Alaska. I would like to do the land and sea. My husband is thinking just land and not cruising.

I would love to hear anyone's opinion or your experiences.

    Thanks!

  7. We'll be on the Equinox which doesn't go through the canal. Just in the port of Colon for the day. Celebrity offers a few different tours:

Panama Canal tour - board a ferry boat and venture into the canal... 8 hours long

Grand tour of panama - journey through the heartland to discover the Panama Canal, with Embera Indian dance performance. Board a boat for lake exploration. 5 hours long

    Or

Expansion oh the Panama Canal the present & the future. - discovering the workings. Appears to be from a platform. 5 hours long.

We're in port for 10 hours.

    Any suggestions?
