  1. I hope that is just rumor! I love love love the molecular bar! By far, my favorite bar on the ship. I may not always sit there, but I will order one or two drinks a night from there and either drink there with friends or take it with me to another venue. I love the uniqueness!

  2. We used to be one of those eagerly waiting passengers standing in line at 10 or 10:30 waiting and waiting and waiting to be one of the first to board the magnificent ship and begin our magnificent vacation. However, now we stay at the hotel have a late breakfast and relax by the hotel pool if we are staying near the port. If we are driving from NC, we will typically stay in Orlando for a few days, have breakfast mid morning at the hotel and then drive to the port. Either way, we arrive to the port between 1 and 2. Boarding is now such a breeze. Never a line. Never a wait. And best of all we don't have to sit in those chairs at the port with grumpy, hungry people & antsy children (Or adults - yes I was one of the antsy adults back then - practically bouncing in my chair :o) waiting to board! ;):D Perfect!

  3. Thank you for your response. My mother has a view of the pool at her apartment community and I thought a nice view of the yachts and sailboats sailing by would be nice. (She has never seen either before!) Of course there are no palm trees at her apartment complex either! I'm sure we will be happy with either one, but I think I am going to stick with the water view and hope that we don't have a super huge mega yacht blocking our view - although it would be something she could talk about for months to her friends! :D

But thank you for your response. I do appreciate it! :)

  4. We have booked the Hilton Marina for a four day stay next week. We have two double rooms booked for a 30 year family vacation (my mother, brother, sister, and me!) Two of my family members have never been to Florida and I want to make this stay special. My mother is elderly which is why I picked the Hilton over the Embassy and Hyatt - since Hyatt doesn't have the water taxi at the moment :(. I have not stayed at the Hilton yet.

Unfortunately, the double tower rooms are all booked, but I reserved two east intracoastal view rooms and requested a third story room to get a better view. Has anyone stayed in these rooms or can offer an opinion on them? Would a pool view (which is nominally less expensive) be better?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide!

  5. Personally, if I were making the choice for us, I would choose no. 3. We have already sailed on the Jewel and that is my favorite class of ship and I love the itinerary. However, to sail in GS on the Adventure (we haven't sailed the Adventure --- yet) with a great itinerary, well I would probably have to choose that one! :D St. Lucia is our favorite island and I love getting my spices from Grenada - the waterfalls there are gorgeous as well. We also love Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua. So I choose no. 3.

Good luck with your decision, looks like you can't go wrong with ANY of your choices. We loved the Jewel though. That would be a very close second choice! :)

  6. Congrats on your booking! I, too, just booked for 2017. A B2B on the Reflection! Got my preferred cabin location - well actually my second choice. My first choice was already taken one of the weeks. But I'm happy. I like to book early! The prices were a little high, but I'm hoping they go down a bit over the next couple of years. But I'm happy with the lower deposit and the perks received with this promotion.

    Happy cruising!

  7. We were on a Eclipse Southern Caribbean cruise in March 2013.

A white poodle type dog which was pushed in a stroller was seen to relieve itself on the grass. Also in the indoor pool area.

I didn't witness this, but did see it in Select dining and barking in the theatre.

I was on this cruise with you and I DID see this little dog relieve itself on the grass right next to where we were playing bocce - barefoot! :p:eek::p:mad: Also saw it barking in its stroller at the Ensemble bar one night. :p

Regarding the infamous doll cruise - we were originally booked on that cruise, but I switched cruises when I found out about the American Girl group that was going to be on board. Smartest change I ever made! Whew! Glad I got out of that one!

  8. If cabin selection is wide open, you might want to look at the 4 forward facing Aqua cabins on that deck with the largest balconies which are more centrally located on the ship. 1601, 1605 on the port side, and 1616, 1620 on the starboard side. I personally prefer being close to the midship elevators and looking a bit forward as opposed to backward. Otherwise, 1552 is the same layout, with a large balcony, and a great choice.

Thanks! Actually, I'd like to stay on the starboard side this time. Why, I don't know. :D Normally, we book port. I think I'll re-email our TA making 1620 our first choice and 1552 our second choice. He just LOVES it when I tell him I'm about to book a cruise, he knows that I go insanely crazy (which makes him crazy!) trying to get that "perfect" cabin! :D:p:o But that's why I book so early. The prices are crazy expensive for this cruise as well, but I want to take advantage of the promotions this week and hope that the prices go down!

    Thanks for your insight!

  9. I have searched the internet relentlessly over the last couple of days. We are planning to book a B2B on the Reflection for 2017. I have it narrowed down to one of these larger hump angled cabins - both AQ. I have looked at the spreadsheet and both rooms have good reviews. I am tentatively leaning towards 1552 because it is not under a public deck; HOWEVER, I have read that on its sister ships there is window washing equipment in front of the room next to it. Does anyone know if it is the same on the Reflection? I know the deck layouts are a bit different on the Reflection.

Thanks for any help!! I've looked through so many pictures, I'm bug eyed!:D

  10. Pleasant little video - obviously I couldn't understand a word of it, but nice of him to film it and post it here. Thank you!

HOWEVER, I must say, that was the dullest and most bored group of people I ever saw using any type of new, and high tech million dollar excursion/attraction!!!!! They all looked like they were at work, getting ready to be fired or something ! I've seen more lively people in doctor's office waiting rooms!!! Jeez!! No Line, No waiting, maybe not the greatest sky or morning view but come on!!!!! you're on vacation, at sea, with 12 days ahead of you to rest, relax, eat, drink and be merry -you could at least smile!!! lol !

    -Miriam

I was thinking the exact same thing. LOL I like the girl in the background who was talking on her cell phone the first half of the video. She looked totally bored.

I know that I would be hopping from side to side to giddy with excitement trying to get pictures from every angle! :):D

I'm ready to sail on the Anthem NOW - darn it! :D;)

  11. Love it! Love it! I can already tell this will be my favorite class! Won't get on the Quantum :(, but we already have the Anthem booked for a 12 dayer. :):D Hope to sail on all in this class in the future. Looks like there will be a lot of storage in the cabins. Like!:)

Thanks for posting the link. Can't wait to hear more from the Quantum sailings coming up. I'm soaking it all in!

  12. We are considering the Reflection for our 17th cruise this fall. Before our 5 year old came along, we enjoyed the solarium pool on the Millineum. We would go after dinner and have it to ourselves. How strict is the adults only policy on the Reflection? I'm sure my daughter will hate not being able to get in it once she sees it! Also, any thoughts on the Reflection for a 5 year old? She has been on 4 cruises, but never with Celebrity. She is well behaved (as 5 year olds go), but typically does not prefer to do the kids club activities. Thanks!

As others have noted, "adult only" pools are indeed intended for "adults only". Not just on Celebrity but on other lines as well. Most lines do enforce this policy and if not, fellow passengers will probably "enlighten" the offending party. I've known many parents who go to the adult only pool for a break while their children are enjoying the children's programs that the ships offer.

While we haven't been on the Reflection, we have been on her sisters: the Eclipse & Solstice. They are beautiful ships! Enjoy your cruise, no matter which one you choose! :)

Oh and welcome to Cruise Critic! :)

  13. Personally, we would never post any of our travel plans or pictures while we travel. It may just be me, but I kind of think you are asking for trouble when you do. I have posted pictures upon our return, however. It's fun to relive and not take any time away from our travels!

I do know a lot of people post while they are away. It's just not something we feel comfortable with.

    Have a great cruise!

  14. We did Simplicity Charters on April 2. It was a wonderful day and would so do it again in a heartbeat. Captain Charlie takes a maximum of 6, but we just paid extra and went with one other couple so it was just the four of us. We just sailed and sailed and sailed! I would highly recommend them and Hinckley (the dog) is just adorable and so well behaved. All four of us fell in love with her! :) In fact, I think my husband would have left me there and taken Hinckley back home instead!!!:eek::eek::D:)

  15. I love their non stops BUT am so tired of them allowing wheelchair people and people with children to board first. They also allow people with medical cards to. Over the holidays when the boarding started, a dad with a small child was up with the gate attendant and she yelled back and said the entire family could board - it included gramma and grampa plus an aunt and uncle and more kids. It really made many people including me mad because they did not purchase the early boarding option. Same with many older people - they have figured out how they can board early and not pay the extra fee. An elderly couple came into the gate area with both pushing wheelchairs that were full of bags. They sat at chairs right by the gate entrance and the wheelchairs were parked next to them. The boarding started and they pushed their way to the front of the line. Number one, I thought the airport had people that pushed them so how did they get an airport wheelchair for their luggage???? They looked very spry - yes, that doesn't show all.

And on every flight I have been on lately, the bulkhead seats are taken up kids. I don't care for those seats but I don't feel kids need take them just because they are allowed on first.

And I also am sick and tired of being told to move over while I am in line waiting to board a ship. I had to stop at the ramp to the ship while 12 wheelchairs and their guest went past us. But what really upset me was when they jumped out of the chairs and ran off when they got on the ship. Saw several of them all over the ship - even dancing - no wheelchair

They are already seated - why do we have to stand while they are allowed to go on first. This handicapped stuff is getting out of hand.

Oh, and before you flame me, I do have a handicap car permit and my own wheelchair but I don't use them very often because it is better for me to walk and unless I am having an attack, I don't use it.

No flaming from me either. I agree with all of the above!!
