  1. yes it "appears" they are stopping at places to give the locals a boost in their economy!   However, the choices  are limited for excursions.   I usually decline ship excursions as I get more from local vendors, but this cruise ship stops in places that I cannot  in general shop around.   Maybe it is a safety iissue?    The only 2 excursions in Santa Rosalia are$169 each for 5 hours...pretty steep....and try as I may I cannot find alternate tours offered from the port.    Live and learn.......

  2. On an upcoming cruise, one of the port stops is Santa Rosalia   8-5 .   There are only 2 excursions offered at a seemingly high price of $169  for about 5  hours.  This includes a 90 minute stop at the beach.  ......I cannot find any other non-cruise line excursions  when I search.     Looking for input on those who have been to this port and if you know if alternate options are available.   We always have used non-cruise ship excursions and never once had any problem.    We would so appreciate your input on this asap.   ( I did make reservations with the cruise ship excursions for all but one port......)    Thank you.   We are to be on the Voldendam  departing  December 10 from San Diego.
