  1. I could not love this post anymore if I tried!!! I am such a planner as well, it is almost more fun than actually traveling 🙃

We are on a 10 day Alaska cruise from San Francisco leaving in May. I will have to organize my info so as to add it to the group as I would love some feedback.

Complete side note, make sur if you purchase bug repellant wipes that the packaging seals well. We had to throw ours out and purchase in port on 2 different cruises lol.

what is the difference between 10:35 and 11:50? - You'll be in NY the same day anyway.

There isn't an 11:50 option for my flight. There is a 10:20 AM into DFW and a 10:35 AM into PHL. The next flight option is the next day.

I the Northern Europe Forum you said “so we booked a 10:35 AM departure”
I do not know how fast you’ll be able to disembark but with a 7 am arrival the 10:35 departure will be very, very tight but doable.

Yes, we technically have it on hold with American Airlines. I am trying to decide if that is a horrible idea while everyone checks with their employers to see if they can take of another day. 7 out of the 12 of us will be hard pressed to add another day.

  4. Hello,

I am currently trying to book return airfare from Amsterdam for June 2021 (crossing my fingers....) and I'm trying to decide what the absolute earliest flight I could make if we self disembark. Some in our party can not take the additional day off work the next day and most other flights have us arriving the next day.

We are on NCL Jade, itinerary says we arrive at 7am. Thanks in advance.

  5. I am wondering the same! Airfare options were very limited to have us home by Sunday night (need to return to work Monday) so we booked a 10:35 AM departure. At the time, we figured we just do self debarkation and preschedule car service to be waiting but now I am rethinking it. Is this even possible? 😰

  6. Hello,

We are sailing on NCL from Amsterdam in May and are looking for somewhere to stay for 1 night. It is a multi generational family trip of 12 people. Normally we do Caribbean from a Florida port and book a 2-3 bedroom condo that sleeps everyone. Is there anything similar in Amsterdam? Hotels appear to be very pricey and accommodate 2-3 guests max.

    TIA

  7. Well, I called and found out that they lied to me. I officially cancelled about an hour before the announcement was made. I called back and they said no problem, we can change your code. Well that was a lie. So now we just get the 100% FCC, no option to cancel.

Supposedly (take it with a grain of salt), they do refund the deposit amount if your FCC is enough to cover the cruise after taxes.

I couldn't be more unhappy with a company. Horrible service that they conveniently have no record of the 2nd call in their database. Just the first.

  8. Hello,

My first RC cruise was scheduled for departure March 23. I originally opted for the FCC bc I had every intention of going on a cruise. However, I have heard of all the restrictions and special rules that Royal Caribbean has on using a FCC I am currently doubting my selection.

    1. Your FCC does not apply to the deposit. So even though my cruise is paid in full, I have to pay $250 per person just to apply my already paid for cruise credits.... OK, maybe. Pay to reserve just bc their system works that way, but it gets refunded to CC once FCC is applied. Not thrilled, but OK. I could work with that.

THEN there are debates as to if your cruise credit is $1000 and the new cruise fare (not including taxes) is also $1000, you would then receive another FCC vs having the deposit money refunded to your CC. That is just wrong. In order to use the FCC there is no other option than to pay an additional $250 per person above what was paid for your cruise that was cancelled?!?!?

    2. The dollar amounts of the FCC are applied to each individual person's new fare. NOT the cabin total. So passenger 1 has FCC $1000, new cruise fare is $900, passenger 2 has $500 FCC and new fare is $600, RCCL will then issue another FCC for any extra monies remaining on the credit to passenger 1 and then passenger 2 will have t pay $100 more. It will not be applied to the cabin total. This is 100% horrible business practices.

Please tell me I'm misunderstanding the way this works as it was explained to me on 4 different calls with phone reps. Royal Caribbean couldn't possibly treat their customers this badly???  I'm feeling very uneasy to even consider booking with them again. 😞

  9. That was what I thought too! Haha. I was going through the steps, just trying to see how much flexibility and see when payment would be due etc. Before I ever saw the payment screen, it popped up with the confirmation. The invoice said it was due by final payment date. We have already paid our cruise in full, ahead of final so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.

  10. OK, so I am 99% sure husband is not going.

I have since been able to get additional info.

The 3rd person fare is $510.

    We only paid $50 deposits.

Port taxes and fees are $125 and change.

Keeping the connecting cabin while it is ideal, it isn't as big of a deal as originally thought. If we end up moved, it's fine.

My concern is the repricing possibility. I have called so many times and the responses seem to be 50/50.

  11. Hello,

Totally embarrassed over here. I just accidentally made an an actual booking for airfare through Air2Sea. The original intent was to see how the process went, how payment worked etc. Unfortunately, it went through...... These flights are SUPER high and not exactly what I would have chosen at all. I know I would have 24 hours to cancel if booked directly but since I went through their program does that change anything? It appears all of Royal and Air2Sea are closed for the night. So I am now sitting here stressing til I call in the morning. Any experiences would be appreciated.

  12. Hello,

I am looking for any and all advice. We are just over 30 days from final payment and my husband just found out his employer probably is not going to allow him to take a week off of work for our Thanksgiving cruise. We booked under early saver rate so I know there will be an administrative fee of $50. I have called Carnival 3 different times today to ask what the price difference is. We have paid about 40% of the total as of now. One rep couldn't even understand what I meant by cancelling just one person and kept saying I could cancel up until final and be charged $50 per person and the rest that I have paid would go to future cruise credit (I was not aware of that, I will never make any payments prior to final above the minimum required to book). One just kept telling me that the "fee" is the same as the third passenger fare but that she had no idea what that actually is bc the only break down numbers show the average per person. And one told me absolutely nothing besides maybe he can talk to his boss about working overtime before the trip but said absolutely nothing about the booking.

My concern is, if they cancel us to rebook, pricing is significantly higher now and we would be better off to pay it and have him be a no show. Also, could they really force us to change cabins? We are currently booked in a connecting cabin with my parents and there are no others available.

Has anyone been here? I am not sure what to do from here.

  13. Thanks so much, I love hearing from others who have sailed.

I did call Royal last week about bringing drinks on board. I was told 12 per cabin, up to 17 oz each. I"m sure what actually happens may be different but that was the "official" policy she said.

Normally, we spend a lot of time in the cabin on the balcony but this trip, we want to try to check out EVERYTHING haha. Any tips for a plan of attack?
