  1. I’m loving Margarita’s prints, really interesting departure from the other designer’s soft color palettes.

The fit on Kenya’s black dress was what I believe her downfall, especially for someone who typically does such an amazing job on the curvy models. The models breasts were just so unflattering, a girl that age should have “girls” that are standing at attention so to speak, gravity should have not visited her and the dress should have showcased that. If you’re going for décolletage then it should be spot on, otherwise cover it up.

Brandon is just such a new and refreshing point of view, his runway will be exciting. I’m not sure how he will translate into RTW but his is definitely a collection I want to see.

While I like the concept of modest clothing I just find some of Ayana’s looks to be kind of boring but then some really beautiful. There’s never really an “eh” for me it’s either love it or hate it.

Kentaro seems like he is lost right now, he changed what he told Tim was his inspiration and Tim looked confused. During the home visit he said music was his inspiration and then spewed some nonsense about rocks and sand that truly made no sense. I wish they had sent him home and left Kenya honestly.

I am looking forward to next week for sure!!!!

  2. I agree about the fact that high fashion and runway fashion are not rtw fashion, they get modified for that but impact for editorial and runway is important for aesthetics in fashion.

Also, oh man five minutes in Mood is insane lol I think 30 isn’t enough. I know where the fur is and it had to take her five minutes to get there [emoji6][emoji2]

In the end I kind of love this season, Brandon while maybe not rtw has a really interesting POV and I’d love to see how that is translated into a rtw capsule collection for JCP

  3. I was lurking but decided to speak up: I have a trans loved one who is currently going through the paperwork process (passport name and gender change, etc), and I wanted to thank you for caring enough to post the question, and thank other people for being brave enough (I don't mean that in a patronizing way--the internet is a rough place these days, and CC members can be quite old-fashioned) to answer.

Isn't it amazing how loving people can be!! Of course we will all face the bigots, but I think there are way more good than bad, even if they don't "get it" people are starting to be open to the fact that we are just parents/loved ones who love and support our family. Good luck to your loved one, getting your identity in the world is such an important step for the trans community, it gives them the confidence and validity to move forward.

  4. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. As a mama bear I know we always worry about our transgender babies. Be sure to share when you get back.

Definitely leslieart! We are doing Royal Caribbean, I'm sure we will have an amazing time! I will definitely share our experience when we get back.

  5. Thank you so much for sharing! Heck we are just doing it lol ... she is going to be fine. I was just over thinking because we live in NYC and sometimes I feel that we live in this semi liberal bubble!! But we are vacationing to be together so that's all that matters! Thanks again to all of you who shared your experiences.

  6. I've seen some of the topic addressed but not specifically, we are looking to take a family cruise again. Our last cruise was on Celebrity about 5 years ago, and since that time our family has slightly changed. My 22 year is a trans-female and came out about 2 years ago, by the time we cruise her name change will be completed so all identification will match her female presentation we might also have had her gender marker change completed so her ID will say female, I am still concerned with the treatment from other passengers more than staff. In my experience staff is paid to be accommodating lol so they will not be the issue. I am very concerned for her safety of course, and which Ports of call would be ones of more concern than others. If anyone has personal experience good/bad or indifferent that they would care to share it would be greatly appreciated. I want her to feel comfortable and enjoy amother great family vacation.

    Thanks in advance

  7. LOL ... I know it takes me a whole day just to get patterns cut ... I'm pretty sure there's something like six weeks from the finalists being named until the final runway ... I saw that the finale was filmed 24 weeks ago ... Alyssa is still pregnant in that episode, she had her baby about a month after the show ended.

  8. Alyssa had a baby girl about five months ago ... just one LOL ... some women just blow up while pregnant some barely look pregnant ... that's the beauty of being women, we're all so different but all beautiful ... Project Runway is filmed months before airing, don't forget that the finalists get a few weeks to design their final collection.

  9. Just a funny tidbit ... seeing as we all agree whoever is dressing Alyssa has some problems ... I read that the runaway look she was wearing was by Viktor Luna ... maybe former designers should always dress her!

  10. Which designer is your teacher?

    ***spoiler alert***

Sonjia! (I was vague so as to not be a spoiler) And also if you remember him, Viktor Luna is also helping us in the class. There are of course other designers but those two are the only PR alumni.

  11. The two top dresses were certainly my favs ... I am partial to one of those two designers though ... she teaches a sewing class I'm taking at Mood, so I love her, she's super sweet

I also agree on the bottom three, it was hard to decide which one had to go home I'm sure since they were equally bad.

  12. I actually loved Alexandrea's outfit, it was a good win IMO ... While Jeffery's was beautiful with the hamdwriting that middle panel of nude was completely see thru, which, to me is not wearable. I really really loved Alexander's dress also, I would not have minded his being a win, it was so beautifully made.

I don't know if it's a personality thing but I would have loved to see Ken cut and totally loved Tim Gunn's save.

  13. Indiana ... you look lovely!!!! Very Caribbean ... I can hear the steel drums!

I have been obsessed with finding shoes for our upcoming Med cruise, I recently sprained my ankle so am going to have to stick with flats for almost all of my outfits ... well there's no way I will for formal night, lol but I will have to figure that out too!!!

here are a few that I just purchased at DSW (shoe heaven)

  14. First on the gym thing ... as we age makeup is a little more necessary ... at 20 we could go anywhere with a practically bare face but if a face of make-up makes you feel good, go for it!!! Luckily I have a full gym in our basement ... so I can confidently go to the gym bare faced, lol!

Next on the fashionista front .... I ran into Marshall's yesterday after work ... scored with a Michael Kors black maxi skirt for $25 it's a jersey knit so can totally be dressed up or down!! Also found a coral jersey knit blouse Michael Kors too, so pretty. A nice one shoulder tunic which can be paired with black ankle pants for a smart casual night, and also found a really great lightweight cotton cardy in navy!!

All for less than $100 ... a score in my book!!!!!!!

  15. A long time ago someone mentioned “Onesole”--the clogs with changeable/snap-on tops. If anyone is interested in these at a really good price, they are available at Costco in Altamonte Springs, Fl. (near Orlando) until March 30. They will be at the Orlando (near UCF) the following week--I’m thinking until April 6. I paid $39.95 instead of $85 for the soles, and $15 per additional top. They’re really pretty and could be used for onboard daytime, even formal night--depending on the design uou choose. Free up space for other goodies!

WOW ... these are so interesting!!! I've never heard of them and I am going to have to give them a try.

Here is my sailaway...RL jacket, Chico palazzo pants, Chico gold tank. Hermes scarf that was my Mums....wish it had a bit of red in it...oh well...love it anyway !

Gold Monsanto bag from a few years back. Red hat of course. Also have light weight dark blue cardigan I can switch put if jacket is too hot. It's knit cotton, but not lined so I think I will be comfy.

Is it too much? DH likes but I want to be sure it's not too costumy/even though I love nautical look.

Can you stand any more? I have a couple of dinner outfits....

    Terry

I totally love all your cruise outfits!!!! Sailaway is spot on!!!! Not costumey IMHO. I have to start pulling clothes now, lol. Just not sure I will be able to fit any clothes for my dh and 3 ds's :)

  17. I ordered them off of the crocs website - I had a coupon code for like 20% off too! It has expired now, or I'd give you the code - if you sign up for crocs emails, I think they give you a code for a percent off with your first order -

Here's the link for the "Adrina Flip - Leopard Print"

Thank you so much!!!! I am really in love with them.

  18. I like wearing the crocs sandals & flip flops - they are very comfy, and they don't look like crocs! I just got these leopard print ones -

Espresso-and-Espresso-Womens-Adrina-Leopard-Print-Flip-flop-_14371_22Z_IS.jpgand I just ordered these sandals, but they aren't here yet.

    Espresso-and-Espresso-Womens-Really-Sexi-Sandal-_14175_22Z_IS.jpg

They are very casual, I have found that they are good to walk around the ports in -

OMG I hate Crocs but these are soooo nice especially the leopard, but I'm a sucker for animal prints lol!!! Going to do a search for these!

  19. bellababe70: Welcome to CCF!!! Once you have caught up with all the pages, time needs to be alloted every day for this thread;) (other threads, too; but THIS one helps you plan what to wear, so it's top priority!)

I'm planning a Garage Sale next month and checked on the cost of renting a rolling rack...but you gave me an idea! Just BUY one!! If it folds up (like the rental one), it's a no-brainer.

Sounds like we're all over the board when it comes to color in our Cruise Wardrobe. It would be boring if everyone wore the same combination!

I love people watching from a little table where lots of cruisers pass by. Outfit choices are always interesting...

I was thinking that Bed, Bath & Beyond would have a rolling rack and they always have coupons available. I have a room available to start using as my "cruise room" but my son comes home from college in late May so I will have to move it, lol .... but I am going to use it for now!!!!

  20. omg I love this thread .... I am trying to read it all but it may take me a while!!! I am going out today to buy a rolling rack to get my thoughts together on what to pack.

I just wanted to introduce myself and can't wait to get opinions in the

    future.

I am cruising with my dh and 3 ds's in July on Celebrity Equinox, it will be

    my first cruise ever!
