  1. We are leaving on the Gem July 5th and have the soda package. Are there soda machines like on other ships or do you need to go to one of the bar areas? Also, we plan on bringing our own cups as the bar cups are so small. Will they let us use these? thanks

Thanks for the info. We are going out on the Gem July 5th . Got a few questions for you. We have the soda package and on some ships they have the soda machines and some you have to go to a bar area. Which does the Gem have? Also, what are some of the sights on the island we really don't want to miss. With 2 1/2 days we don't want to get bored but also don't want to miss anything. What is the easiest way to get around the island. (one of us uses a cane and doing stairs can be a problem). Thanks for any info.23 days and counting:)

  3. My son is thinking of bringing his guitar on our upcoming cruise. I am trying to dissuade him, not because of his playing (he's very good) but because there are already 4 of us in an aft mini-suite and I can't imagine where the guitar can go when he's not playing it.

My teenage son brings his guitar on EVERY cruise we go on!!! He'd sleep with it if he had to:D!!!

  4. We will be right there beside you on that cruise. Addicted as well, although we learned how to play Blackjack on our last cruise and had a lot of fun with that, so we may do that again this time.

For me it's about length of play. I don't play in the casino to try and make money, it's not an investment, it's just for fun. I can take $60 into a casino and spend maybe 20-30 minutes playing slots or roulette before I'm broke, while I can sit at the quarter slide for an hour or two.

Yeah, I don't "gamble" in the casino at all. This game is more just for fun and you'd be amazed at the folks you meet and strike up conversations with. Last year on our cruise I met a gentleman who alternated with me for quite a while, watching each other's quarter machines so we could get more quarters from the change machine without losing our spots:) Talk about addicted!!! :)

  5. We set sail on Anthem in 6 days :) but I have a couple questions. For those who have been on Anthem...Do they have the "Quarter slide game" in the casino. The one where you drop a quarter in and hope the quarters fall? Also, about the onboard communication package for $7.95pp (for people to text each other onboard). Can that be used with tracfones.(Easy way to keep track of my teens)

    Thanks

  6. We will dock at Bar Harbor on our Anthem cruise in August. We want to go see Arcadia park (I think that is how you spell it) but really don't want the expense or structure of a tour. I heard there might possibly be public transportation we could take.is this true, what is the cost, and is it close enough to have enough time to get there, look around and still catch transportation back without missing the ship? Any help would be appreciated.

  7. We are booked for the August 25th 9 day cruise on Anthem from New Jersey going to Canada/New England. We have never cruised up that way (we usually go South) at this time of the year so we are not sure what to pack. Will it be cold? I'm assuming a jacket/sweatshirt but what about pants/shorts and will it be warm enough to swim? Thanks

  8. My brother and sister-in-law just got back from a cruise on The Breakaway. They RAVED about the Vibe Beach Club. We are going on the Gem in July. Does anyone know if there is a Vibe Beach Club on the Gem? or anything like it? Thanks
